5.The role of plasma placental isoferritin in pathogenesis of preeclampsia and its predictive value for preeclampsia
Chinese Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology 2001;36(4):209-211
Objective To investigate the effect of placental isoferritin in pathogenesis of preeclampsia and its predictive value. Methods A prospective double-blinded study was performed. There were 120 initial normal pregnant women at earlier third trimester (from 24 to 34 weeks) in this study. Their plasma placental isoferritin and nitric oxide (NO) metabolites (nitrite/nitrate) (NO2-/NO3-) were examined by enzyme linked immunoabsorbent assay (ELISA) and Griess assay respectively. The outcomes of pregnancies were followed up. Results In 120 initial normal pregnant women, 19 pregnant women occurred preeclampsia (preeclampsia group), and 101 cases were normal (normal group) at follow up. The levels of plasma placental isoferritin (PLF) were significantly decreased in preeclampsia group (285.31±53.73 mg/L) than that of normal group (699.05±203.03) mg/L, P<0.01. The levels of plasma NO were significantly increased in preeclampsia group (54.57±32.71 μmol/L) than that of normal group (38.89±30.00) μmol/L, P<0.05. The significant negative correlation between the plasma placental isoferritin and NO levels was observed(r=0.329,P<0.01). At the cut point of 400 mg/L PLF level, the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value and Kappa index of PLF level predicting on the outcomes of pregnancy with preeclampsia were 100%, 85.15%, 55.88%, 100%, 0.645. Conclusions The decrease of plasma placental isoferritin levels is associated with preeclampsia, and the endothelial cell damage may be one of its mechanism. The PLF may be an earlier predictor of preeclampsia at 24~34 gestational weeks.

7.Influence of Smoking on the Risk of Pulmonary Tuberculosis Among Type 2 Diabetics
Chinese Journal of Prevention and Control of Chronic Diseases 2006;0(03):-
Objective To investigate the relationship between smoking and the occurrence of pulmonary tuberculosis among type 2 diabetics(DM-PTB).Methods A hospital-based case-control study was carried out at three hospitals in Tianjin from 2001 to 2002.87 cases of newly-diagnosed pulmonary tuberculosis with type 2 diabetes mellitus and 129 controls by frequency-matched by gander and age were recruited and interviewed.Univariate and multivariate unconditional logistic regression analysis was conducted. The adjusted odds ratio(OR) and 95% confidence interval(CI) were estimated. Results Higher smoking index(OR=1.399,95%CI=1.098~1.782)?beginning smoking at younger(OR=2.028,95%CI=1.076~3.821)?large consumption of cigarets per day(OR=1.349,95%CI=1.087~1.674)?no smoking cessation after diabetes diagnosis(OR=5.327,95%CI=1.703~16.661) were significantly associated with DM-PTB after adjusted for other risk factors.Among female diabetics large consumption of cigarets per day? beginning smoking at younger higher smoking index were generally associated with increased risk of pulmonary tuberculosis;while without smoking cessation after diabetes diagnosis might be risk factor among the male;higher smoking index might increase the risk of pulmonary tuberculosis among younger(youger than 60y) diabetics. Conclusion Smoking control or cessation among type 2 diabetics might decrease the risk of pulmonary tuberculosis.
8.Combining bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells with new nerve conduits for repair of peripheral nerve defects
Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2015;(45):7320-7324
BACKGROUND:With the continuous development and progress of medical model, the treatment and rehabilitation recovery from peripheral nerve defects needs higher requirements; therefore, stem cel culture-based nerve tissue engineering technology provides a new strategy for nerve defect repair. OBJECTIVE:To explore the feasibility of combining bone marrow mesenchymal stem cels and new nerve conduits to repair peripheral nerve defects. METHODS:Fifty New Zealand white rabbits, clean grade, were randomly divided into experimental group and control group, with 25 rabbits in each group. Animal models of peripheral nerve defects were made about 15 mm distant to the middle segment of the radius of the rabbit foreleg. At 1 week after modeling, bone marrow mesenchymal stem cels/new nerve conduit composite material was implanted into the defect in the experimental group; and in the control group, only bone marrow mesenchymal stem cels were transplantation. At 4 weeks after transplantation, a 5-mm nerve fiber was taken from the defect site, stained with hematoxylin-eosin and observed under scanning electron microscope. Density and diameter of regenerated nerve fibers were compared between the two groups. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Compared with the control group, the density of nerve fibers was significantly higher in the experimental group, but the diameter of nerve fibers was significantly lower (P < 0.05). There were more cels with good growth, large size and many processes on the surface of regenerated nerve tissues in the experimental group than the control group. Moreover, in the experimental group, interconnected cels were woven into a mesh and the axons were longer and thicker, both of which were the performance of typical neuron-like cels. Taken together, the bone marrow mesenchymal stem cels/new nerve conduit composite material can be used for peripheral nerve repair and present exact achievements.
9.Study on the Culture of Mycelial Phase of Pityrosporum Orbiculare
Chinese Journal of Dermatology 1994;0(06):-
In order to investigate some requisite conditions for the formation of mycelial phase of Pityrosporum orbiculare (P. orb) and understand indirectly the pathogenesis of tinea versicolor, we used a semisolid medium containing cholesterol 1. 0g/dl and agar 0.8g/dl, and obtained the mycelial phase of P. orb. Then we studied the relationship between the formation of the mycelial phase and the concentration of cholesterol or agar in the medium. The results showed that when P. orb were cultured on the medium, the hyphae began to grow on the 4-6th day, increased gradually, and peaked on the 10-12th day. The hyphae were mostly blastohyphae, 8-16?m in length and in the shape of racket, and distributed in clustes. It was found that 0. 25g/dl was the minimum concentration of cholesterol to induce the mycelial phase in vitro. Within the range of 0. 25-1.0g/dl the higher the concentration was, the more the hyphae were. When the concentration exceeded 1.0g/dl, the hyphae did not increase markedly. Relative high moisture (0.8g/dl of agar in the medium) was suitable for the production of the hyphae. The results suggest that the occurrence and recurrence of tinea versicolor in summer probably relate to the change of choleserol concentration on the surface of the skin after the evaporation of sweat.
