Objective To explore the clinical effects of second non-myeloablative stem cell transplantation (NAST). Methods Six cases of malignant hematological diseases receiving second NAST were retrospectively analyzed. Of them, 3 were suffered from transplant rejection after 1st NAST and the remaining 3 were stable mixed chimerism. Results Five of the patients achieved complete donor's chimerism and have been in disease-free-survival for 6~27 months. 1 GVHD occurred in only one of the 6 patients, and no transplant-related death happened. Conclusion Second NAST is effective for the treatment of patients with transplant rejection, and is also rational choice for those patients with refractory or relapse malignant hematological diseases.

Objective To practice the prevention and treatment of severe bone marrow form and intestine form of acute radiation sickness complicated by bacteria infection for providing an effective method on the treatment of acute radiation sickness. Methods Two patients with severe acute radiation sickness suffered from different infection during treatment. Based on their clinical symptoms, image analysis and the findings of microbiological culture, the patients underwent different anti-bacteria and anti-fungi treatment, and the results were evaluated. Result Repeated multiple bacterial infection companied with fungi infection occurred in the two patients with severe acute radiation sickness during the period of treatment. The bacterial infection was controlled temporarily by an intensively antibacterial and antimycotic treatment, but the fungi infection was uncontrolled. In patient A, acute peritonitis occurred 14 days after exposure, and pulmonary infection occurred 19 days after exposure. The pulmonary infection in patient A was controlled by using antibacterial drugs Tienam and Vancocin, while the patient died of multiple organ failure and fungi infection 33 days after exposure. In patient B, pulmonary infection occurred 17 days after exposure, and the septicemia occurred twice with Gram-negative bacteria at 55th day and 71st day after exposure. The pulmonary infection was controlled provisionally by using antibacterial drugs Tienam and Vancocin, while the patient died of multiple organ failure 75 days after exposure. Conclusion The bacterial infection companied with severe acute radiation sickness is phased occurrence. The generalized and phased application of intensive antibiotics might be an effective treatment.

To evaluate the effects of donor stem cell infusion (DSI) in patients after nonmyeloablative allogeneic peripheral blood stem cell transplantation( NAPBSCT),6 patients were infused donor stem cell in+7d~+90d consisting of MNC (0.6~7.6)?10 8 /kg, CD34 + cells (0.3~3.4)?10 6 /kg,CD3 + cells (0.3~5.1)?10 8 /kg.The results showed that 5/6 patients had definite effects in promoting donor chimeras after DSI,of these 3 achieved full donor chimeras following mixed chimeras ;4/6 have graft versus leukemia(GVL)effects. No hematopoiesis aplasia was found, and only one Ⅳdegree aGVHD developed related with DSI. It was concluded that DSI have definite GVL effects and can convert mixed chimeras to full chimeras without causing GVHD and severe hematopoietic aplasia.

The labeled compounds, CdTe was combined with anti-fluoranthene antibody, had good dispersion and stability with the fluorescence intensity enhancing. A direct competitive fluorescent immunoassay with CdTe-anti-fluoranthene antibody to detect fluoranthene in water sample in the environment was developed. The result showed that fluoranthene can be determined in the concentration range from 0.1 μg/L to 1000 μg/L with a correlation coefficient of 0.9983, a sensitivity of (IC_(50)) of 12.4 μg/L and a detection limit (IC_(20)) of 13.1 ng/L. Trace environmental pollutant in environmental water samples were successfully determined with a good accuracy and suitability. The recovery was between 95.1% and 111.0%, with relative standard deviation less than 9%.

AIM: To explore the relationship between the expression of transforming growth factor-?1 (TGF-?1) and the pathogenesis of lung carcinoma, and the influence of radiotherapy on plasma TGF-?1 level of patients with lung carcinoma. METHODS: By immunohistochemical method, the expression of TGF-?1 was examined. An enzyme-linked immunoadsorbent assay (ELISA) was used to quantify the plasma TGF-?1 levels in different time as before radiotherapy, at the end of radiotherapy, and at the time of follow-up 6 months after radiotherapy, respectively. The changes of quantity of TGF-?1 in different time above were analysed statistically. RESULTS: There was a significant increase in TGF-?1 expression in the carcinoma compared with normal lung tissue. The mean TGF-?1 level in the 39 lung carcinoma patients before radiotherapy was (11 0?1 5) ?g/L, which was significantly higher than control group (3 8?0 2 ?g/L) ( P 0 05). At the time of follow-up 6 months, the patients of lung carcinoma had a significantly higher plasma TGF-?1 level (11 3?1 2 ?g/L) compared with the level at the end of radiotherapy ( P 0 05). Not significant difference was found in TGF-?1 levels among different histologic types. CONCLUSION: These data demonstrated that TGF-?1 was associated with the pathogenesis of lung carcinoma, and it may be a useful tumor marker in patients with lung carcinoma. [

A rat model of laryngeal allotransplantation was established by employing an end- to-side anastomosis of donor bilateral common carotid arteries to recipient common carotid artery and external jugular vein separatively.Thirteen allotransplants were performed in 26 SD rats. All recipients survived.Three days after the operation,a visible fibrinous adherence was observed around the laryngeal grafts.By the 7th day,the adherence became intensified. The airway was plugged with mucoid material, and the viable grafts were surrounded by connective tissues. Our results confirmed that the rat model was practicable for laryngeal allograft.Besides the difference of the major histocompatibility between the donor and recipient, the skill of microsurgery, the prevention of infections and the methods of donor organ flushing are all vital to a successful trans- plantation.

Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis 2000;12(2):101-103
Objective To research the effect of melatonin against glutamate excitotoxicity. Methods The model of glutamate-induced excitotoxic damage was built up in rat cerebral cortical cell culture. The effect of mela- tonin against excitotoxic injury was observed by determining the leakage rate of lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) from neurons. ResultsThe leakage rate of LDH wasn't decreased markedly when cultures were exposed to melatonin be- fore, during or 6 h after glutamate treatment. The leakage rate of LDH was decreased significantly when melatonin was administered 0 h, 2 h or 4 h after the cultures were exposed to glutamate. The inhibitory function of melatonin on LDH leakage was most effective at 2 h and 4 h. Conclusion Melatonin has protective effects on neurons damaged by glutamate in a certain time limit.
