AIM: To study the effects of Liquestrazin on succinic dehydrogenase (SDH) and cytochrome oxidase (CCO) in the myocardial mitochondria of the ischemia-reperfusion rats and its mechanism. METHODS:Model of myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury was produced by coronary artery ligation . The rats were devided into sham operation control (SC), ischemia-reperfusion (IR) and ischemia-reperfusion protected with Liqustrazin (IR+L) group . Activity of SDH,CCO,SOD and GSH?PX and contents of malondialdehyde (MDA),Cyt aa 3,Cyt c and phospholipid(PL) were observed respectively . Objective To investigate the clinical significance of B-type natriuretic peptide(BNP) in the process of fluid resuscita-tion with different crystalloid-colloid ratio in the patients with severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) .Methods Clinical data of 85 SAP patients were analyzed retrospectively in the Emergency Center of Chongqing during January of 2010 to December of 2012 .Early goal-directed therapy(EGDT) was confirmed the end criterion of the end point of resuscitation .Low crystalloid-colloid ratio group (n=45) and high crystalloid-colloid ratio group(n=40) were divided according to crystalloid-colloid ratio (3∶1) as the borderline , BNP were observed at the time point of before fluid resuscitation ,and 1 ,2 ,3 days after resuscitation and the day before discharge . Results Different fluid resuscitation of crystalloid-colloid ratio could improve hemodynamics in patients ,BNP increased with the to-tal amount of resuscitation liquid ,were positively correlated with liquid volume .The total amount of fluid of the high crystalloid-colloid ratio group was significantly higher than that of the low crystalloid-colloid ratio group .Conclusion BNP could guide early fluid resuscitation and low crystalloid-colloid ratio should be adopted for SAP patients .
3.The optimal time of capsule endoscopy for patients with obscure gastrointestinal bleeding

Objective To investigate the optimal time for capsule endoscopy in patients with obscure gastrointestinal bleeding (OGIB) .Methods Data of 76 patients with OGIB underwent capsule endoscopy from January 2013 to December 2014 were retro‐spectively analyzed .They were classified into two groups :emergency capsule endoscopy and non‐emergency capsule endoscopy .The demographic and clinical features and outcomes of capsule endoscopy ,complications and the times of hospital stays and hospitaliza‐tion expenses were compared .Results The overall diagnostic yield of capsule endoscopy was 48 lesions(63 .15% ) .The overall di‐agnostic yield of emergency capsule endoscopy group was 73 .68% (28/38) ,which was significantly higher than that in non‐emer‐gency capsule endoscopy group(52 .63% ,20/38) ,with statistical difference (P< 0 .05) .Conclusion Emergency capsule endoscopy have a higher rate of detection ,patients with OGIB should receive capsule endoscopy as soon as possible .
5.Study on impact of ethanol extracts from Sedum sarmentosum in inhibiting STAT-3 signaling and inducing apoptosis of human hepatocellular carcinoma cell line HepG2.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the impact of ethanol extracts from Sedum sarmentosum (ESB) on STAT-3 signaling and its probable molecular mechanism in inducing apoptosis.
METHODMTT assay was used to detect the impact of ESB on HepG2 cell proliferation. FITC-Annexin V-FITC /PI double-labeling were used to investigate the impact on hepatoma carcinoma cell apoptosis. Western blot analysis was used to test the expression levels of cell apoptosis-related proteins Caspase-3, Caspase-9, PARP, P-STAT-3 (Tyr705) , STAT-3, Bcl-2, Mcl-1.
RESULTESB could notably inhibit proliferation of HepG2 cells, and induce HepG2 cell apoptosis, with the dose-dependent inhibitory effect. In addition, ESB could inhibit STAT-3 signaling, down-regulate Mcl-1 and Bcl-2 expressions, and induce degradation/activation of apoptosis-related proteins Caspase-3 and Caspase-9 and PARP degradation in a dose-dependent manner.
CONCLUSIONESB inhibits HepG2 cell proliferation and induces apoptosis by inhibiting STAT-3 signaling and Mcl-1 and Bcl-2 expressions.

6.Acquisition and Analysis of 149 ESTs and 18 Novel Genes of Schistosoma japonicum

Subjective To acquire and analyze adult stage Schistosoma japonicum (Chinese strain) expressed sequence tags and new genes from an adult S. japonicum cDNA library, and to search new vaccine candidates and drug targets. Methods A cDNA library was constructed from adult stage S. japonicum. Clones were selected randomly from the cDNA library and were se-quenced. ESTs and new genes were acquired after analysis in GenBank databases by BLAST and other programs. All ESTs and new genes were submitted to GenBank and received accession numbers. Results 149 ESTs were acquired from a total 382 clones that were randomly selected from the adult S. japonicum cDNA library. All ESTs were successfully submitted to the dbEST at Genbank. Some of them were homologous with sequences of male, female, egg, schistosomula, cercaria and miracidia of S. japonicum. 18 new genes of adult S. japonicum were acquired. Some genes were housekeeping genes and some genes might be interesting as vaccine candidates or drugs targets. Conclusions The EST straltegy is a rapid, efficient and economical method to acquire ESTs and to discover new genes of adult stage S. japonicum from cDNA libraries.[
7.Studies on relationship between vegetation and snail distribution inside and outside embankment of Poyang Lake region

Objective To explore the relationship between vegetation and the distribution of Oncomelania snails inside and outside the embankments of Poyang Lake region. Methods The plantation and Oncomelania snails were surveyed at 4 villages and their related marshlands in Yugan, Nanchang and Jinxian counties by the stratified systematic sampling method. The investigation was targeted to the vegetation species,height,coverage and frequency of plantation and synchronously to the distribution of snails and infection of snails in marshland of high, middle and low altitudes,adjacent beaches as well in cultivated and waste land inside embankment. The relationship between vegetation dominant association and the distribution of snails in those area was analyzed. Results The vegetation inside and outside the embankment were remarkably diverse. Inside the embankment, the species of vegetation varied greatly and distributed randomly,and no snail was found. While outside the embankment,the distribution of vegetation characterized an unregulated annulus or patch. Plant's association types were distinct on marshlands. The snails mainly distributed in areas at 15-17 m altitude,closely related to the species of vegetation. The coverage of dominant plants,Carex cinerascen and Miscanthus sacchariflorus showed a quadratic curve correlation with the density of snails. Conclusions In the Poyang Lake region,plants and snails are impacted by common environmental factors,which then lead to their close association in distribution. It might be attributed to integrated impacts of changes in ecological factors that Oncomelania snails disappear gradually in areas inside embankment after construction of embankment.
8.Viral Etiological Analysis of 104 Cases of Infantal Viral Pneumonia

Objective To explore the etiology,clinical manifestations of infantal viral pneumonia in Luzhou area.Methods Five viral specific serum IgM antibodies were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) in acute period of viral pneumonia.Five kinds of virus were separated,as respiratory syncytial virue(RSV),influenza virus(IFV),adenovirus(ADV),cytonegalo virus(CMV),and parainfluenza virus(PIV).Serum specific IgM was positive,C-reactive protein(CRP) was less than 8 mg/L,and there was no(clini-)cal and laboratory proof of other pathogenic infection detected in 221 infants with pneumonia.Results 1.One hundred and four cases of viral infection were detected from 221 infants with pneumonia.The viral positive detected rate was 47.1%,and there were 75 cases of single viral infection(72.1%) and 29 cases of mixed viral infection(27.9%) among them.2.In the single viral infection,RSV was the first,IFV,ADV,PIV and CMV being the second,the third,the fourth,and the fifth respectively.3.The types of likely infection virus were different in different age-stage and seasons in infants.Conclusions The etiology of infantal pneumonia is complicated.The types of viral infection are various besides germ infection and the epidemic season peak;clinical manifestations are different.Earlier detection of(etiology) in infection will make clear the etiology and then take appropriate treatment measures to improve curative effect.
9.THE EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON MYOCARDIAL LESION INDUCED BY BOTH SELENIUM AND METHIONINE DEFICIENCY IN RATS

According to the level of selenium (Se) and methionine (Met) in diet, Wistar rats were randomly divided into 3 groups, group A (normal Se and normal Met); group B (Low Se and normal Met); group C (low Se and low Met). The animals were sacrificed after 8-week feeding. The results showed that the alteration of myocardial ultrastructure was slight in group B. Decreased activities of cytochrome oxidase and succinate dehydrogcnase of myocardial mitochonria and decreased activities of GSH-Px in the blood, heart and liver in group B were observed, as compared with those in group A. But the level of TBA was higher than that of group A.The above mentioned changes in group C were extremely apparent than group A or B, indicating both Se and Met deficiency in diet may concern the etiology of Keshan disease.
10.Diagnosis and surgical treatment of pulmonary sequestration

Objective To promote comprehension of pulmonary sequestration by investigating the diagnosis and surgical treatment methods of this disease.Methods A retrospective analysis of the clinical records of 27 patients with pulmonary sequestration was made,15 male patients and 12 female patients,with the age ranging from 4 to 56 years old.The patients were examined by chest radiography,computerized tomography (CT),computerized tomography angiography (CTA),magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) before the surgery.Eleven patients were confirmed preoperatively as pulmonary sequestration by the contrast enhanced CT and 64slice spiral CT examinations.Sequestrectomy was performed on patients with extralobar sequest ration (ELS) and lobectomy was performed on patients with intralobar sequestration (ILS).There were 21 cases of left lower lobectomy,5 cases of right lowerlobectomy,and 1 case of right sequestrectomy.Results All recovered uneventfully.No significant complications occurred in the perioperative period.All patients were cured and discharged from hospital.No relapse was reported during follow up period.Conclusion Diagnosis mainly depended on the chest radiography,CT,MRI and CTA.Surgical operation should be the best choice of treatment.
