OBJECTIVETo observe the regulatory effects of psoralen, oleanolic acid, and stilbene glucoside, three active components of psoralea fruit, glossy privet fruit and tuber fleeceflower root respectively, on Aβ25-35induced self-renewal and neuron-like differentiation of neural stem cells (NSCs).
METHODSEmbryonic NSCs werein vitro isolated and cultured from Kunming mice of 14-day pregnancy, and randomly divided into the control group, the Aβ25-35 group, the Aβ25-35 +psoralen group, the Aβ25-35 +oleanolic acid group, and the Aβ25-35 + stilbene glucoside group. The intervention concentration of Aβ25-35 was 25 µmol/L, and the intervention concentration of three active components of Chinese medicine was 10(-7)mol/L. The effect of three active components of Chinese medicine on the proliferation of NSCs was observed by counting method. The protein expression of Tubulin was observed by Western blot and immunofluorescence. The ratio of Tubulin+/DAPI was caculated. Results Compared with the control group, the sperical morphology of NSCs was destroyed in the Aβ25-35 group, the counting of NSCs, the expression of Tubulin protein, and the ratio of Tubulin /DAPI all decreased (P <0.01, P <0.05). Compared with the Aβ25-35 group, the counting of NSCs, the expression of Tubulin protein, and the ratio of Tubulin + /DAPI all increased in the three Chinese medicine treated groups (P <0. 01, P <0. 05).
CONCLUSIONS25 µmol/L Aβ25-35 could inhibit self-renewal and neuron-like differentiating of NSCs. But psoralen, oleanolic acid, and stilbene glucoside could promote self-renewal of NSCs and neuron-like differentiation.

Sulfur fumigation (SF) is a universal phenomenon in primary processing of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in modern times. In the process, fumigation, sulfur or both of them act on the TCMs. Some active components of TCMs change quantitatively or qualitatively during the processing. At the same time, the sulfur dioxide and heavy metal would remain and cause a serious influence on quality and future development of TCM. This article reviews the chemical compositions change after SF to study the change law and their influence on quality. This article provide references for SF in TCMs' processing for a better and safer quality.

OBJECTIVETo study a method for extraction and analysis of volatile components from Chrysanthemum morifolium 'gonghuangjv' cv. nov (CM GHJ) and C. morifolium 'gongbaijv' cv. nov (CM GBJ) by solid-phase microextraction (SPME) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS).
METHODThe volatile components were extracted in different temperature, different balance period and different extraction fiber using head space solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME), and were identified by CGC-MS. The variety in integral area of each component was observed in different conditions and its relative content was determined by normalization of area.
RESULTThe better condition of SPME for C. morifolium was that the sample was extracted using 100 microm polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) extraction fiber after it had been balanced for 6 hours at 75 degrees C. 53 components from CM GHJ and CM GBJ were identified, and there were 35 same components in CM GHJ and CM GBJ.
CONCLUSIONHS-SPME-GC-MS is convenient, rapid and reliable for analysis of volatile components in C. morifolium.

OBJECTIVETo explore the effect of curcumin (CUR) on cycteinyl aspirate specific protease-12 (Caspase-12) and pneumocyte apoptosis in pulmonary ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury mice.
METHODSThe in vivo unilateral in situ pulmonary I/R injury mouse model was established in C57BL/6J mice. Sixty experimental mice were randomly divided into six groups by random digit table, i. e., the sham-operation group (Sham), the I/R group, the I/R + dimethyl sulfoxide group (I/R + DMSO), the I/R + low dose CUR pre-treated group (I/R + CUR-100), the I/R + middle dose CUR pre-treated group (I/R + CUR-150), the I/R + high dose CUR pre-treated group (I/R + CUR-200), 10 in each group. Mice were euthanized and their left lungs were excised. Wet lung weight to dry lung weight (W/D) and the total lung water content (TLW) were tested. The morphological changes of the lung tissue were observed and index of quantitative evaluation for alveolar damage (IQA) detected under light microscope. The ultra-microstructure of the lung tissue was observed under electron microscope. The mRNA and protein expression levels of Caspase-12 and glucose regulated protein (GRP78) were detected by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and Western blot. Apoptosis index (AI) of the lung tissue was determined by terminal-deoxynucleoitidyl transferase mediated nick end labeling (TUNEL) method.
RESULTSCompared with the Sham group, expression levels of Caspase-12, GRP78 mRNA and protein all significantly increased in the I/R group (P < 0.05); W/D, TLW, IQA, and AI were all notably higher (P < 0.05, P < 0.01); the morphological and ultrastructural injury of the lung tissue were notably observed in I/R group. Compared with the I/R + DMSO group, expression levels of GRP78 mRNA and protein were increasingly higher in the I/R + CUR-100 group, the I/R + CUR-150 group, and the I/R +CUR-200 group (P < 0.05), expression levels of Caspase-12 mRNA and protein were lower (P < 0.05); W/D, TLW, IQA, and AI also decreased (P < 0.05, P < 0.01); the morphological and ultrastructural injury of the lung tissue were gradually alleviated in the I/R + CUR groups.
CONCLUSIONCUR had better effect on the lung protection against I/R injury, which might be related to inhibition for pneumocyte apoptosis associated with Caspase-12 in excessive unfolded protein response (UPR).

Objective:To conduct a scoping review of the characteristics, functions, risk of bias and applications of home-based self-management behavior assessment tools for lung transplant patients, so as to provide references for clinical medical staff to conduct further related research. Methods:The relevant literatures were systematically searched in China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang Database, VIP, China Biology Medicine disc, PubMed, Web of Science Core Collection, Embase, Cochrane Library and CINAHL databases. The search period was from the establishment of the databases to June 30, 2023. The scoping review method framework was used to screen the literature, extract information and standardize the report. Results:A total of 10 167 Chinese and English literatures were searched, and after deduplication and screening, 23 articles that met the criteria were finally included, involving 13 home-based self-management behavior assessment tools for lung transplant patients, including nine specific tools and four universal tools. There were eight kinds of lung transplantation patients whose reliability and validity were not verified. Of the 13 tools, those with single-dimensional assessments and single measures predominate. The level of home self-management behavior of lung transplant patients was reflected mainly through compliance, and medication management was the most frequently assessed content. Conclusions:At present, the measurement of home-based self-management behavior of lung transplant patients is mainly based on questionnaire surveys, and the evaluation tools are mostly single dimensional. The reliability and validity of most evaluation tools in the population of lung transplant patients are not yet clear, and there is a certain risk of bias. It is recommended that researchers pay attention to the reliability and validity verification report of the evaluation tool in the target population when selecting it, and integrate multiple measurement methods to reduce measurement errors.
