OBJECTIVETo classify the blood vessel distribution of the expanded skin in the mastoid region and its relevance to reasonable and reliable design of the expanded flap for auricular reconstruction in congenital microtia.

METHODSThe blood vessel distribution of the expanded skin in the mastoid region was observed by light permeation test. The expanded flaps with different ratio of length to width were designed according to their blood vessel distribution types.

RESULTSThe vascular distribution of the expanded skin in 403 cases was divided into five types. All the flaps survived completely.

CONCLUSIONSThe blood vessel distribution type of the expanded skin in mastoid region has great significance for the design of post-auricular expanded flap in auricular reconstruction.

OBJECTIVETo classify and repair "Butterfly Ear" deformity which presents characters of dysplasia of inferior auricle of ear and congenital bat ear.

METHODThe repairment procedures include: type I: auricular cartilage flap inversion folding technique. type II: local ear skin flap. type III: soft tissue expander autogenous, rib cartilage framework.

RESULTSThe method was used in 19 cases from October 2001 to March 2005. Postoperative follow-up showed satisfactory results in all cases.

CONCLUSIONAccording to "Butterfly Ear" deformity classification, different technique could be applied.

OBJECTIVE To discuss the pathogenesis essence of Parkinson's disease through analyzing the distribution regu-larities of syndrome elements in 300 cases.METHODS Epidemiological cross-sectional survey method was applied to analyze the pathogenesis syndrome elements of 300 cases with Parkinson's disease and summarize its distribution characteristics.RE-SULTS The total appearance frequency of the eight kinds of syndrome elements was 1 180,and the top four pathogenesis syn-drome elements are wind,yin deficiency,phlegm and stasis,with the corresponding data being 22.88%,22.12%,14.89%and 1 7.54% respectively.The proportion of patients with the above two or more pathogenesis syndrome elements was 32.33%.CONCLUSION Liver-kidney yin deficiency is considered to be the basis of pathogenesis and wind-phlegm obstruction syndrome and stasis are the center pathogenesis,with the main syndrome type being liver-kidney yin deficiency and wind-phlegm obstruction.Hence,the main therapeutic method for this disease is to nourish liver and kidney,remove phlegm,elimi-nate wind and dredge collaterals.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the chest contour deformities after harvesting of costal cartilage for total ear reconstruction, so as to prevent donor site morbidity.

METHODS107 cases of microtia who underwent ear reconstruction with costal cartilage during the period from 1994 to 2003, were retrospectively studied. Both the chest depression deformity and the costal arch deformity were evaluated. The possible related factors to the chest contour deformities were analyzed statistically with Stata software.

RESULTSThe incidence of chest depression was 54.55% (48/88), including 35 cases of mild depression (39.77%) and 13 cases of severe depression (14.77% ). The incidence of costal arch deformity was 52.77% (46/88), including 33 cases of mild deformity (37.50%) and 13 cases of severe deformity (14.77%). The incidence of both deformities was significantly different at different age (P < 0.01), but not at different follow-up period (P = 0.294 and P = 0.225, respectively). Gender was related to the incidence of chest depression (P < 0.01), but not to the costal arch contour deformity (P = 0.619). Comparing resection of the 6th and 7th rib cartilage with resection of 7th and 8th rib cartilage, the incidence of costal arch deformity was significantly different (P < 0.01), but the incidence of depression deformity was not (P = 0.657).

CONCLUSIONSThe incidence of chest deformities increases with early operation time (< 13 years old). The male patients have higher incidence of depression deformity than female. The arch deformity is higher when the 6th and 7th rib cartilage were resected. The follow-up period is not related to the chest deformities.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the effects of primary deep venous valvular incompetence of lower limb (PDVI) to the occurrence of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) after human total knee replacement (TKR).

METHODSOne hundred and twenty-six patients who planed to receive TKR were examined by color doppler flow imaging (CDFI). The patients were divided into 2 groups depending on whether they were found backstreaming in femoral vein or not. When the refluxing time > 1 s, the patients were included in PDVI group; When the refluxing time < or = 1 s, the patients were included in without PDVI group. In 7 d after operation all the patients were re-examined by CDFI to find if there was DVT. The results were tested by chi2 statistical analysis.

RESULTSAmong the 126 patients, 54 had PDVI, and 72 without PDVI. Fifty patients had DVT, total incidence rate 39.7% (50/126). In PDVI group 33 patients had DVT (61.1%, 33/54); In without PDVI group 17 patients had DVT (23.6%, 17/72), which was lower than PDVI group (chi2 = 21.227, P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONSPDVI may be a risk for occurrence of DVT after TKR.

OBJECTIVETo study the psychologic status and their influencing factors in congenital microtia patients and their families.

METHODSTotally one hundred and two congenital microtia patients (79 men, 23 women, mean age 13.62 +/- 7.2 years) were enrolled. The patients and their families answered the questionnaire written by ourselves to identify the psychosocial problems.

RESULTS(1) 23.5% patients were found to have severe psychosocial problems, such as lack of self-confidence, close and fear and so on. (2) With the growth of age, psychosocial problems of the patients were rated high (P < 0.05). (3) For patients who found their deformations early, psychosocial problems also were rated low. (4) For patients who found their deformations by themselves, psychosocial problems also were rated low. (5) The education and psychosocial impact for parents all affected patients deeply.

CONCLUSIONSTo prevent psychosocial problems, we should operate for patients as early as possible. And correct guidance is very important for youngsters.

OBJECTIVETo identify the risk factors associated with congenital microtia.

METHODSA case-control, retrospective study was performed. A total of 207 cases of congenital microtia and 209 age-frequently-matched controls were interviewed individually according to the uniform questionnaire. The questionnaire included: (1) Essential information about patients and their parents. (2) First trimester diseases and medication of mother. (3) Past gestation history of mother. (4) Family history and life style of the parent. The available data were analyzed by chi-square test and multivariate Logistic regression model.

RESULTSThe factors, such as gender (OR = 5.893), first trimester disease of mother (OR = 34.49) and medication (OR = 4.299), excessive drinking and smoking of father (OR = 4. 347, OR = 4.304), non-primiparous parity (OR = 9.524), abortion (spontaneous and induced, OR = 1.723), low-education of mother (OR = 2.275) were risk factors contributing to microtia in multivariate study. The factors, such as tea (OR = 0.179) were protective factors in multivariate study.

CONCLUSIONSMulti-risks factors are contributing to microtia. Preventive measures according to risk factors should be put forward.

Objective: To investigate eating behavior and associated family factors of preschool children during the prevalence of Corona Virus Disease(COVID-19), and to provide scientific basis for healthy eating behavior for preschool children. Methods: A total of 1 829 preschool children were investigated by electronic questionnaire from 5 kindergartens in Shenzhen from March 18-20, 2020. SPSS 19.0 was used to perform logistic regression analysis on the factors for eating behavior. Results: The rate of unhealthy eating behavior during the prevalence of COVID-19 was 47.2%. The rate of unhealthy eating behaviors in boys and girls were 46.1% and 48.4%, respectively. And there was no significant difference between different genders(χ 2=1.02，P=0.31). The rate of unhealthy eating behaviors of preschool children aged 3-, 4-, 5- and 6- were 56.6%, 56.8%, 42.3% and 29.9%, respectively, and the differences between different ages were significant(χ 2=72.17，P<0.01). Logistic regression analysis showed that fathers high education level, mothers education level(OR=0.78，0.77，0.21), and parents satisfaction with children s eating were associated with low nutritional problems of child, while parental permission to play while eating, criticize while eating, force child to eat more and force child to eat foods they do not like, and parental concerns about children s appetite, were associated with more unhealthy eating behavior(OR=6.29，1.80，2.20，1.70，2.16)(P<0.05). Conclusion The prevalence of unhealthy eating behaviors of preschool children during the prevalence of COVID-19 is lower than usual, but the health education of preschool children s families still needs to be strengthened.

Objective:The activation of astrocytes is an important process in the formation of chronic pain.This study aims to observe the activation of A1 reactive astrocytes in the medullary dorsal horn in the rat model of trigeminal neuralgia,and to explore the mechanism of central sensitization caused by A1 reactive astrocyte. Methods:The adult male rats were randomly divided into a sham group and a chronic constriction injury of infraorbital nerve(ION-CCI)group.The facial mechanical pain threshold and thermal withdrawal latency were measured before the operation and on the 1st,3rd,7th,10th,and 14th day after the operation.After pain behavior observation,the expression of glial fibrillary acidic protein(GFAP)in the medullary dorsal horn was observed by immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence colocalization of GFAP,complement 3(C3)/S100A10,and 4',6-diamidino-2-phenylindole(DAPI)was analyzed.Primary astrocytes were cultured and randomly divided into a naive group and a DHK group.The DHK group was treated with 1 mmol/L of astrocyte activation inhibitor dihydrokainic acid(DHK).Fura-2/AM was used to stain the astrocytes and the calcium wave of the 2 groups under the stimulation of high potassium was recorded and compared.The expression of C3 was detected by Western blotting. Results:The facial mechanical pain threshold and thermal withdrawal latency of the ION-CCI group were significantly lower than those of the sham group(both P<0.05).There were a large number of GFAP positive astrocytes in the medullary dorsal horn of the ION-CCI group.The fluorescence intensity of GFAP in the ION-CCI group was higher than that in the sham group(P<0.05).GFAP and C3/S100A10 were co-expressed in astrocytes.Compared with the sham group,the fluorescence intensity of C3 and the protein expression of C3 in the ION-CCI group were increased(both P<0.05).The expression of C3 in ION-CCI group was significantly increased(P<0.05).Compared with the naive group,the C3 protein expression was significantly decreased in the DHK group(P<0.05).The intensity of calcium fluorescence was increased after high potassium stimulation in both groups.Furthermore,the peak and increase amplitude of calcium fluorescence in the naive group were much higher than those in the DHK group(both P<0.05). Conclusion:A1 reactive astrocytes in the medullary dorsal horn of trigeminal neuralgia model rats are increased significantly,which may participate in central sensitization of trigeminal neuralgia by impacting astrocyte calcium wave.
