2.Association of solute carrier family 2, member 9 (SLC2A9) genetic variant rs3733591 with gout in a Malay sample set
The Medical Journal of Malaysia 2018;73(5):307-310
Introduction: Gout is one of the most common inflammatory
arthritis in Malaysia. It is due to persistent hyperuricemia
that leads to the formation and deposition of intra- and periarticular monosodium urate crystals either due to excessive
production or insufficient excretion of uric acid. Incidence
and prevalence of gout is increasing worldwide, with a
higher rate among men compared to women. Malay is the
largest ethnic group in Malaysia, followed by Chinese and
Indian. SLC2A9 is a renal urate transporter that controls
renal uric acid excretion and genetic variants in SLC2A9 are
associated with the risk of gout in several populations. This
study aimed to test if the SLC2A9 variant (R265H, rs3733591)
is also associated with gout among Malays in Malaysia.
Methodology: A total of 89 patients with gouty arthritis and
100 normal subjects who consented and were recruited in
this study. The serum urate and creatinine were measured.
The SNP genotyping was performed using PCR-RFLP
method for rs3733591 and BST 1236 was used as a
restriction enzyme to cut the targeted amplicons.
Result: SLC2A9 variant was associated with gout, p-value of
0.007, OR=4.713 [95%CI 1.530-14.513], however this
association was not significant after adjustment for age and
gender with p=0.465 (OR=1.950; 95%CI[0.325-11.718]).
Conclusion: Our data suggest that the genetic variant of
SLC2A9 may contribute to the susceptibility of gout among
Malays in Malaysia.
3.Effect of anisodamine on the reserpine-induced gastric mucosal lesion in rats
Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 2000;16(3):237-242
AIM: To determine the effects of anisodamine (Ani) administered intraperitoneally on the gastric mucosal lesion induced by reserpine.METHODS:In reserpine-treated rats, gastric mucosal lesion, gastric acid secretion, gastric barrier mucus secretion, gastric contraction, gastric mucosal blood flow (GMBF), gastric mucosal nitric oxide synthase (NOS) activity and nitric oxide (NO) content were examined.RESULTS:Ani in doses of 1,5 and 10 mg/kg significantly inhibited the formation of gastric lesions induced by reserpine, with the suppressive rate of 60.0%, 66.7% and 76.6%, respectively. Ani (10 mg/kg) significantly inhibited the secretion of gastric acid, but had no effect on the volume of gastric juice. Ani (10 mg/kg) significantly prompted the secretion of gastric barrier mucus. Our findings also showed that Ani (10 mg/kg) significantly suppressed the frequency and amplitude of gastric contraction. Ani (10 mg/kg) significantly prompted GMBF. In reserpine treated rats, gastric mucosal NOS activity and NO content were decreased and Ani (10 mg/kg) could inhibit the decrease in NOS activity and NO content.CONCLUSIONS:The protective effect of Ani may results in part from inhibiting gastric acid secretion, prompting gastric barrier mucus secretion, suppressing gastric contraction and improving GMBF. NO seems to play an important mediator role in the Ani protective mechanisms.
4.Clinical observation of doila combined with GT-4a pulse therapy for labor analgesia
Chinese Journal of Primary Medicine and Pharmacy 2011;18(5):593-594
Objective To observe the intrapartum analgesic effect of Doula GT-4a pulse acting working station and the influence of it on labor and mother-to-child. Methods The observation group use intrapartum analgesia of 98 primigravida, and the control group was other 98 primigravida without intrapartum analgesia in the same delivery period. Two groups of gravidas were delivering by a high qualification of midwife while your cervix expand for 2 ~3cm. The observation group was given with GT-4a pulse acting working station. Results The analgesia VAS scores of the observation group, significantly different with that of the control group:The first stage of labor active period accelerated significantly, the second stage of labor was shortened. The cesarean section rate, the vaginal birth rate and the neonatal mild choking rate significantly declined compared with the control group. Though there were no statistical differences between two groups with the third stage of labor, postpartum hemorrhage, and neonatal severe choking rate. Conclusion The andlgesie effect of doula combined with GT-4 pulse theraphy for labor was good. It reduced cesarean section rate, improved maternity quality and had no adverse effects.

6.Advance in mechanism and clinical application of ocular dominance
Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2013;31(12):1169-1172
The researches on ocular dominance have been continuing deeply last decade years since the concept was first described by means by Porta in 1593.Based on the neurophysiology and molecular biology,it is confirmed that the procedure of ocular dominance involves sublayer 4C of the visual cortex,N-Methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA)-receptor,a-calmodulin kinase Ⅱ (aCaMK Ⅱ),synapses and about candidate gens.Meanwhile, ocular dominance theory plays an important guiding role in optometry,laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis and cataract operation. In this review, the mechanism and clinical application of ocular dominance were summarized.
7.Inj ury mechanism and imaging features of ankylosing spondylitis with spinal fracture in patients at middle-late stage
Journal of Practical Radiology 2017;33(1):87-90,106
Objective To explore injury mechanism and imaging manifestations of ankylosing spondylitis (AS)with spinal frac-ture so as to reduce missed diagnosis and misdiagnosis. Methods Imaging and clinical data of 1 5 patients with AS in combination with spinal fracture as well as 37 patients with common spinal fracture were reviewed retrospectively and analyzed subsequently. Results Among the patients with AS,1 1 had explicit trauma history,9 had three column fracture on images,7 had spinal canal compression or spinal cord inj ury,and 6 had fracture lines across the intervertebral disk.Among the patients with common spinal fracture, the corresponding number were 36,4,5 and 0 in sequence. There were significant differences between AS fracture group and common fracture group in trauma history (χ2=4.565,P<0.05),three column fracture (χ2=11.274,P<0.05),spinal canal compression or spinal cord injury (χ2=4.873,P<0.05)and fracture across the intervertebral disk (χ2=13.041,P<0.05).Conclusion There are obvious differences between AS with spinal fracture and common spinal fracture in injury mechanism.X-ray,CT and MRI have different advantages in the diagnosis of AS with spinal fracture, and choosing appropriate imaging techniques may reduce missed diagnosis and misdiagnosis.

China Pharmacy 2017;28(24):3333-3336
OBJECTIVE:To provide reference for developing pharmaceutical care and guiding resident'rational drug use.METHODS:The residents from Huancheng community of Binhai county in Jiangsu province were chosen as objects. The questionnaire survey was conducted, and the results of investigation were analyzed statistically.RESULTS:A total of 983 questionnaires were released, and 955 (97.15%) effective respondents were recalled. The residents who read instructions carefully read instructions occasionally never read instructions before using drugs accounted for 61.68%,36.44% and 1.88%,respectively.There was statistical significance in reading drug instructions before using drugs among different education degrees and different occupations (P<0.01).The respondents with high educational level read the drug instructions better, and the farmers read the drug instructions poorly. Can't fully understand was the main reason for those who didn't read instructions carefully (chosen by 285 times). The respondents paid more attention to the content of the drug instructions for indication, usage and dosage, expiration date,ADR,contraindication, matters needing attention and storage (over 60%),respectively.Only 21.57% of the respondents could fully understand the drug instructions. There was statistical significance in understanding level of the respondents to drug instructions among interviewees with different ages, different educational degrees or different occupations (P<0.01),respectively,young people and the residents with high education level had higher understanding level, and the understanding of peasants was lower.CONCLUSIONS:Community residents have high degree of concern about drug instructions, and their understanding level is not high. There are risks to drug use in community residents.
9.NUMBER OF PHALANGES ON THE 3RD,4TH AND 5TH TOES IN CHINESE
Acta Anatomica Sinica 1955;0(03):-
The number of phalanges on the 3rd,4th and 5th toes of 615 feet was observed. In the 615 feet, toes with two phalanges amounted to 73.34?1.77% on the 5th toe and 13.18?1.36% on the 4th toe.In the 294 feet examined, only 3.43?1.06% show- ed presence of 2-phalanx 3rd toe.Nearly 3/4 of the cases had two phalanges on the 5th toe,so it may be considered that the total number of phalanges of a foot in the Chinese is less than 14. The distribution of toes with two phalanges in the 2 feet of an individual can be grouped into symmetrical and asymmetrical types. The symmetrical type occurs more frequently than the asymmetrical. In case the 3rd or 4th toe has two phalanges, the 5th toe is always to be a 2-phalanx one. No apparent difference in frequency of the occurrence of the 2-phalanx toes was noted in the left or right foot or in the different age groups. The occurrence of toes with two phalanges was oftener in the female than in the male.
