1.Ablation of feeding-artery with high intensity focused ultrasound in uterine fibroids

Objective To assess the efficacy of high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) for the ablation of feeding-artery in uterine fibroids.Methods A total of 45 women with uterine fibroids who had children accepted HIFU treatment.Color Doppler and contrast-enhanced ultrasound were used to target the supply vessels entered the fibroid.HIFU treatment was focused primarily on locations where supplying vessels entered the fibroid.Conventional ultrasound,color Doppler ultrasound,contrast-enhanced ultrasound and MRI were performed before and after HIFU treatment to observe the changes of imaging.Results After HIFU treatment,the volume of uterine fibroids decreased to certain extent.The blood signals decreased or disappeared in the treated regions.Bewteen two groups of the uterine fibroids diamete ≥5 cm and <5 cm,there were significant differences in the percentage of the nonperfusion regions in the volume of uterine fibroids (≥70%,P <0.05).Conclusions Ablation of feeding artery by HIFU is an effective treatment for the uterine fibroids.HIFU treatment is effective for the ablation of feeding-artery in uterine fibroids whose diameter less than 5 cm.
2.An in vitro study of three dimensional culture of dog periodontal ligament cells

Objective:To evaluate the feasibility of two materials used as scaffolds in periodontal tissue engineering. Methods: Dog periodontal ligament cells cultured in vitro were collected and seeded on three-dimensional framework of cancellous bone matrix (CBM) or nano-HAp/collagen (nHAC) . The cell growth in the scaffolds was observed by cell counting and scanning electronic microscope. Results: Porous structure of the two materials and adhesion and eugonic growth of cells in the scaffolds were observed by scanning electronic microscope.The cell number was doubled in both scaffolds in 72 h culture. Conclusion: It may be feasible to use CBM or nHAC as the scaffolds for periodontal tissue engineering.
3.Postoperative recurrence of pelvic solitary fibroma with bladder metastasis: a case report

Solitary fibroma often occurs in the pleura, but rarely outside the pleura. Extrapleural solitary fibroma has atypical clinical symptoms and difficult imaging diagnosis. Here, we report a case of solitary fibroma recurred and metastasized to the bladder after pelvic surgery. He was treated with palliative resection in our hospital. The patient died of systemic metastasis 3 years after operation.
5.Investigation of Hand Germ-Carrying status of Healthcare Workers in Burn Wards

OBJECTIVE To investigate hand hygiene of healthcare workers in burn ward in our hospital and provide scientific basis for the effective prevention and control of hospital infection in burn ward.METHODS Selected randomly 30 healthcare workers in burn ward and sampled from hands for bacterial culture.RESULTS The average colony of hand pathogens of the 30 healthcare workers was 105.42 CFU/cm2,the maximam was 1093 CFU/cm2.Among the hand pathogens,40.91% were Bacillus subtilis,36.36% were micrococcus and 13.64% were Staphylococcus aureus.CONCLUSIONS Hand hygiene of healthcare workers are not optimistic in burn ward.Strengthening the education of hand hygiene and raising the executable rate of hand hygiene are important measures to prevent and control the hospital infection in burn ward.
6.Epidemiological studies of falls among the elderly: a review

Abstract
Falls are the leading cause of accidental injury deaths among the elderly. Currently, the incidence and disease burden of falls among the elderly remain high. By understanding the influencing factors of falls among the elderly and formulating targeted preventive measures, the risk of falls can be effectively reduced. Studies have found that falls among the elderly are results of the interaction of multiple factors. When formulating fall prevention strategies, attention should be paid to fall risk assessment and stratification, fall prevention exercise support and health education, living environment improvement, and primary healthcare service enhancement. Reviewing publications pertaining to the epidemiological studies of falls from January 2004 to January 2024, this article summarizes the epidemiological characteristics, risk factors, prevention and control strategies of falls among the elderly, aiming to provide the reference for prevention and control.
7.Correlation between CD4+CD29+T cells and metastasis and radiotherapy for patients with pulmonary ade- nocarcinoma

Objective To observe the correlation between CD4+ CD29+ T cells and metastasis and radiotherapy for patients with pulmonary adenocarcinoma. Method Seventy-one patients with lung adenocarcinoma, 93 patients with lung adenocarcinoma ,76 cases of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD),63 cases of healthy volunteers were enrolled. Frequencies of blood CD4+ CD29+ T cells and their intracellular necrosis factor alpha(TNF-α)and interleukin 1(IL-1)were compared. Compare TNF-α,IL-1,integrin beta 1 and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)levels in the patients with transferred pulmonary adenocarcinoma or with non-transferred pulmonary adenocarcinoma and their changes with the treatment of radiotherapy. Results the patients with lung adenocarcinoma and non lung adenocarcinoma were significantly higher than that of COPD and health group,and patients with lung adenocarcinoma is significantly higher than patients with non lung adenocarcinoma (P<0.05);Integrin beta 1,VEGF and CD4+CD29+T cells,TNF-αand IL-1 level in patients with lung adeno-carcinoma metastasis were significantly higher than non-transferred group(P < 0.05);After radiotherapy,CD4+CD29+T cells,TNF-αand IL-1 in patients with lung adenocarcinoma were significantly lower than before(P<0.05);CD4+ CD29+ T cells,TNF alpha and IL-1 with integrin beta 1 and VEGF had significantly positive correlations. Conclusion CD4+CD29+T cells and cytokines increase significantly in the blood of patients with lung adenocarci-noma,and are related to the prognosis of metastasis and radiation therapy,which has important clinical significance.
8.Effects of flavonoids from Prinsepia utilis Royle on the histomorphology of kidney in alloxan-induced diabetic mice

Aim To investigate the effect of flavonoids from Prinsepia utilis Royle( FPR) on the histomorphol-ogy of kidney in diabetic mice, and to investigate its protective mechanism. Methods Diabetic mice in-duced by alloxan were given FPR orally each day for four weeks. After the administration for two and four weeks, ten mice in each group were randomly sacri-ficed. The kidneys were removed and weighed. The extracted renal tissue was embedded with paraffin and sectioned, the sections were stained with Hematoxylin and Eosin(HE)、Periodic acid Schiff(PAS) and Go-mori, and then observed under the microscopy. 1mm3 of renal cortex fixed with glutaral in four centi-degree , and then the ultrastructure of each group was observed under the electron microscope respectively after four weeks′ treatment. Results Compared with the model control group, in the treatment group, observation un-der the microscopy showed that glomerular volume and mesangial cells reduced, FPR could relieve thickening of the glomerular basement membrane ( GBM ) , little inflammatory cells infiltrated in the interstitium,tubular epithelial cells almost became normal, renal tubule had little glucogen, fiber decreased in the interstitium of renal tubule. Observation under the electron micro-scope indicated that foot process in podocytes lined up in order, mitochondria of the renal tubule’ s epithelial cell almost recovered. Conclusion FPR can relieve the changes of renal pathology,improve renal function, and delay the progression of pathologic changes of kid-ney in diabetic mice partly through reducing the blood glucose and the blood lipid.
9.The preliminary establishment and application of a new method for evaluating K-ras mutations based fluid chip

Objective A new method for detecting K-ras mutations based liquid chip was used to evaluate K-ras mutations associated with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients,to direct the personalized treatment and prognosis evaluation.Methods Take the diagnosis technology research methods,the sensitivity and repeatability of the liquid chip K-ras gene mutation detection method were assessed.A total of 100 NSCLC patients from Nov 2011 to Feb 2012 in Shanghai Chest hospital were included in this study,the fresh tumor tissues were collected for DNA extraction.The 2nd exon 12 and 13 codons,containing 8 K-ras mutations occuring in high frequency were amplified by polymerase chain reaction (PCR),followed by ligation of the PCR products to a series of special probes using ligase detection reaction (LDR),then the PCR-LDR products were analyzed by liquid chip platform.Direct sequencing was applied to compare with the detection results.Results The sensitivity of liquid chip technology detection was 10%-20%,higher than the traditional sequencing method by 1%.Average CV value was 4%-15% and showed good repeatability.5 K-ras mutations in 100 patients (5%) were detected using multiplex PCR-LDR combined fluid chip methods,including 3 Glyl2Val and 2 Gly12Asp mutations in exon 2.The 5 K-ras mutations were verified accurately by direct sequencing.Conclusions The novel detection method of K-ras mutations based PCRLDR and fluid chip shows high throughput,high sensitivity,good repeatability and the results are reliable and accurate.This method can be used to accurately identified K-ras mutations for NSCLC patients prior to their targeted therapy with TKIs.
10.Effect of different dose rate of X-rays on cell migration of human non-small cell lung cancer cell line A549

Objective To explore the effect of dose rate of X-rays on migration of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells and provide the experimental basis for developing radiotherapy scheme. Methods Human NSCLC cell line A549 was cultured and irradiated with X-rays at dose of 6 Gy from a linear accelerator. The dose rates of 1, 2, 4 and 6 Gy/min were selected. Monolayer adherent cells were scratched and photographed at 0 hour and 24 hours under a microscope to measure the scratch width. Results After 24 hours, the scratch width of nonirradiated control cells was (640.7±8.1)μm. The scratch widths of cells were different when cells were irradiated with X-rays of various dose rates. Scratch widths were the largest in cells irradiated at dose rates of 1 Gy/min [(691.4±7.6)μm] and 6 Gy/min [(691.8±12.1)μm]. The scratch width was (666.2±1.3) μm of X-rays at 4 Gy/min, and there were significant differences compared with nonirradiated group (all P< 0.01), which suggested that inhibitory effect of X-rays at dose rates on A549 cell migration was obvious. However, the scratch width of cells irradiated at 2 Gy/min [(643.5 ±6.8) μm] had no difference compared with the control cells (t=-0.336, P=0.742). Conclusions The effect of X-rays irradiation on cell migration of human NSCLC cell line A549 is related with irradiated dose rate. The effect of different dose rates on cell migration is significantly different. Selecting appropriate dose rates for irradiation may help to improve the efficacy of radiotherapy.
