Induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells are reprogrammed by the differentiated adult cells, ard in terms of biological characteristics they are remarkably similar to embryonic stem cells. Compared to the embryonic stem cells, the iPS cells are unrestricted by cell resources, immune rejection and ethics, They maintain the advantages such as specific individual genes, and provide potential cell resources for the fields of regenerative medicine and tissue engineering, This article mainly introduces the iPS cells and their application in the research and treatment of cerebrovascular diseases.

We have observed the effects of five alga polysaccharides on rabbit's blood platelets aggregation. We found that the polysaccharides could inhibit aggregation of blood platelets in vitro. The strongest effect was observed in the polysaccharides from the following,in decreasing order of strength: Scytosiphon lomentarius, Codium fragile,Laminaria japonica and Ulvalactuca. The same effect was not observed in polysaccharides from Cladophra. We also found a positive correlation between the effects of anti-aggregation and the ratio of vitriol radicles in these five polysaccharides.

Objective To study the effects of Yixinyin on viral myocarditis. Methods The beating myocardial cells were obtained from the ventricular myocardium of newborn Sparaque- Dawley (SD) rats and were incubated with Coxsackie B3 virus for 48 hours to establish the experimental model of viral myocarditis. With Yixinyin- contained serum added, the beating rate and survival rate of myocardial cells, and the activity of lactate dehydrogenase were measured at the 1st, 3rd and 5th day after infection. Results Serum contained Yixinyin can increase the beating rate and survival rate of the infected myocardial cells, and decrease the activity of lactate dehydrogenase significantly. Conclusion Serum contained Yixinyin has significant protective effect on myocardial cells infected with Coxsackie B3 virus in SD rats.

Objective To investigate the application of ultrasound localization during craniocerebral operations. Methods Thirty-one cases with intracranial space occupying lesion were surgically treated with guidance of ultrasound, which was applied to real-time localization while revealing skull, tracing during operation and evaluation of the operation's effect before locking up the skull. Results In our group, 31 cases were checked using ultrasound localization during operation. Ultrasound could level the lesion's size and position, which was in accordance with the result of CT and MRI before operation. With the application of ultrasound localization, the lesion could be probed exactly. Conclusions Ultrasound localization during operation is simple, effective and secure, and is helpful to enhance the accuracy of the craniocerebral operations, reduce the blindly exploration, shorten the operation time, and what is more important, reduce unnecessary tissue damage of normal brain tissue, which obviously possess much clinical utilization.

Objective To assess the differential diagnosis and characteristics of renal benign and malignant tumors with three-dimensional contrast-enhanced ultrasound (3D-CEUS). Methods Totally 68 patients with renal tumors were examined by conventional ultrasound and two-dimensional contrastenhanced ultrasound(2D-CEUS). 3D imaging was reconstructed from 2D imaging, the differential diagnosis of renal tumors with 3D-CEUS was analyzed by comparing with 2D-CEUS. All patients with renal tumors were proved by operational pathology. Results Eighteen patients with renal benign tumors mostly displayed equal or low enhancement, showed "slowly in and slowly out" with 2D-CEUS, while displayed regular peripheral and internal vessels with 3D-CEUS. Fifty patients with renal malignant tumors mostly displayed high enhancement, showed "rapidly in and rapidly out" with 2D-CEUS,displayed winding peripheral vessels and disordered internal vessels with 3D-CEUS. 3D-CEUS may display the vascular characteristics of tumors and showed superior imaging quality to 2D-CEUS ( P < 0.05). Conclusions 3D-CEUS can display the vascular characteristics of tumors and their spatial positions, it plays an important role in differential diagnosis between renal benign and malignant tumors.

AIM To investigate whether the relaxation characteristics of phytoestrogens resveratrol and phloretin on contractile response of aortic strips are similar to that of estrogen and the mechanisms underground. METHODS Aortic strips from rabbits were suspended in organ baths containing Krebs solution, and then isometric tension was measured. RESULTS Resveratrol and phloretin inhibited the contractile responses to norepinephrine (NE), KCl and CaCl2, shifted their concentration-response curves rightward with pD2′ values of 2.89, 3.34, 3.37 for resveratrol and 3.23, 3.52, 3.77 for phloretin respectively. Also both of them concentration-dependently relaxed KCl-precontracted aortic strip. The relaxing response of resveratrol but not of phloretin in aortic strip was significantly reduced by removal of endothelium or incubation with Nω-L-nitro-arginine and methylthioninium chloride, however both their relaxant effects were not affected by indometacin and propranolol. In Ca2+-free Krebs solution containing 0.01 mmol·L-1 EGTA, resveratrol and phloretin inhibited NE-induced contraction which was caused by Ca2+ release from intracellular store, but did not affect the contraction which was induced by Ca2+ influx. CONCLUSION Resveratrol and phloretin can induce vasorelaxations which may relate to inhibition of Ca2+ influx through potential-dependent calcium channels and Ca2+ release from intracellular stores, and the relaxing response of resveratrol is endothelium-dependent in part, but of phloretin is not endothelium-dependent.

Objective To investigate the effects of different methods of preparation on the contents of nuzhenide and oleanolic acid in Ligustri Lucidi Fructus. Methods The same batch of Ligustri Lucidi Fructus was under preparation and process. RP-HPLC was used to determine the contents of nuzhenide and oleanolic acid in crude samples, wine-prepared samples, vinegar-prepared samples, and salt-prepared samples. Results The contents of nuzhenide were in the order as follow:salt-prepared samples (1.997 5%)>crude samples (1.600 7%)>wine-prepared samples (1.144 6%)>vinegar-prepared samples (0.894 6%). The contents of oleanolic acid were in the order as follow:wine-prepared samples (1.120 2%)>salt-prepared samples (0.924 6%)>vinegar-prepared samples (0.913 2%)>crude samples (0.899 8%). Conclusion Different methods of preparation have certain effects on the contents of nuzhenide and oleanolic acid in Ligustri Lucidi Fructus.

Objective To probe the value of varied magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) techniques applied in differential diagnosis of tuberculous pyonephrosis from hydronephrosis. Methods Features of MRI,including in T_1WI with/without enhancement,T_2WI,urology MRI and diffusion weighted image(DWI),in seven cases with tuberculous pyonephrosis and 10 cases with hydronephrosis pathologically confirmed were retrospectively analyzed. Results Regular T_1WI and T_2WI could show morphology of the whole kidney, destruction of renal parenchyma and empyema.T_1WI with enhancement could manifest abnormally reinforced walls of pyoid cavity, renal pelvis and calyx and ureter.Urology MRI could show morphology of the whole urinary passage with pathological changes more clearly.Accuracy of these techniques was 84.7%.DWI had the advantage of analyzing diffusion image and ADC map to understand diffusion features of water molecule, and of quantitating ADC value to differentiate tuberculous pyonephrosis from hydronephrosis, with an accuracy of 91.2% combining with DWI and other methods. Conclusion Combined application of varied MRI techniques should be highlighted in differentiation of tuberculous pyonephrosis and hydronephrosis with a higher accuracy of diagnosis.
