Objective　To evaluate the effect of radiotherapy（RT）combined with chemotherapy(C) for stage Ⅲ non-small-cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) and to find a more effective way of giving them.Methods　From Jan. 1995 to Dec. 1997 , 60 patients with stage Ⅲ NSCLC were randomized into two groups . RT alone group(30 cases) was given conventional fractionated DT 60～70?Gy/6～7 W. The combined group(30 cases) received conventional fractionated radiotherapy plus chemotherapy (DDP,5-FU,VP-16 and IFO, given simulatneosly). In some patients,chemotherapy was also siven before,during and after RT for at least 2 courses. Results　CR rates of RT and combined groups were 20% and 43%, respectively . PD rate of the two groups were 10%and 7% . The 1-,2-and 3- year survival rates were 42.4%,15.7%,7.8% in the RT group and 68.1%,37.8%,18.9% in the combined group(P<0.05). The median survival periods were 8 months and 15 months though the combined group had more obvious side-effects than the RT group. Conclusions　Combined therapy is able to improve obviously the survival rate of stage Ⅲ NSCLC with the induction therapy very important. We expect a more effective combination is to have RT and C simultaneosly or alternately given.

Objective To study the synergistic antitumor effect of PCF when combine used with CTX.Methods Inoculated 0.2 mL H22 tumor fluid into the right armpit of mouse,and then the animals were divided into seven groups randomly: control group;CTX group(CTX 10 mg?kg-1);three test group(PCF 1000,500 and 250 mg?kg-1) and two combined use groups (PCF 1000,500 mg?kg-1with CTX 10 mg?kg-1).PCF were given by intragastric administration for 10 days,and CTX by intraperitoneal injection for 10 days.Same volume of saline was given to the control group.The mice were killed 24 hours after the last medication and the tumor inhibition rate was calculated.Results Three PCF groups had no effect on tumor inhibition,while two combined treatusement groups showed significant effect on tumor inhibition,while at the same doses the tumor inhibition rates were raised to 55.9% and 52.9% respectively,which were higher than that of CTX when used alone.Conclusion PCF can enhance the antitumor effects of CTX.

The polypeptides (PCF) were isolated from Chlamys farreri (Mr 800 -1000). The antioxidative mechanisms of PCF were studied in this paper. It has been shown that superoxide anion free radical and hydroxyl free radical were scavenged by PCF (3%, 15%). The oils and fats peroxide values (POV) and the contents of MDA were also determined. The results showed that the percentage scavenging superoxide anion free radical were 11- 7% and 41. 8% ,scavenging hydroxyl free radical were 8-6% and 38. 4% respectively. Objective To observe the ultrastructural changes of Candida albicans by the effect of oyster antibiosis protein which was extracted from muscle of oyster.Methods The colonies of candida albicans exposed to oyster antibiosis protein for 24 hours,with a blank control group and the differences of their ultrastructure were studied under electron microscope.Results After affected by oyster antibiosis protein for 4h,the cell walls were lacked and had reductus with pyknotic cytoplasm.16 hours later,most cells became global shape and their cytomatrix components were lost and some vacuoles appeared in the cytoplasm.24 hours later,the cell walls depleted and the cells spitted.Conclusion oyster antibiosis protein affected commendably the function of candida albicans.

Aim To investigate whether the polypeptide from Chlamys farreri(PCF)protected HaCaT cells from UVB-induced apoptosis through Fas-caspase-3 and ROS-cytochrome C.Methods Experiment designs were divided into five groups:control group,UVB model group,UVB+5.69 mmol?L-1PCF group,UVB+2.84 mmol?L-1 PCF group,UVB+1.42 mmol?L-1 PCF group.SiRNA for Fas inhibited Fas expression of UVB-induced HaCaT cells.Using agarose gel electrophoresis,the effects of Fas siRNA and ROS scavenger NAC on UVB-induced apoptosis of HaCaT cells were investigated.Expression levels of cytochrome C andcaspase-3 after inhibitory Fas were determined by Western blot analysis.Intracellular ROS was detected by means of an oxidation-sensitive fluorescent probe(DCFH-DA).Results SiRNA for Fas had inhibitory effects on UVB-induced apoptosis of HaCaT cells and caspase-3 expression.NAC had inhibitory effects on UVB-induced apoptosis of HaCaT cells.PCF inhibited UVB-induced generation of ROS and cytochrome C release dose-dependently.Conclusions PCF protected HaCaT cells from UVB-induced apoptosis.Its inhibitory effect on apoptosis could be attributed to inhibition of Fas-caspase-3 and ROS-cytochrome C pathways.

Objective To study the protective effects of th e polypeptides isolated from Chlamys farreri(PCF)against ultraviolet B radiatins.Methods An oxidative damage model of HeLa epi thelial cell line irradiated by ultraviolet B(UVB 7.15?10 -5 J /cm 2 )was established.The HeLa cells were randomly divided into six groups:control group,UVB radiated groups(radiated control,0.5%PCF,1%PCF,2%PCF,1%Vit C).The enzymic activities of HeLa cells were tested by MTT methods,the apoptosis rate an d death rate of HeLa epithelial cells and the content of free calcium in those cells were tested by using flow cytometry(FCM).The contents of MDA and the activities of GSH-Px ,SOD,CAT in the supernatants of cells were determin ed by biochemical methods.Results The results indicated that polypept ides fromChlamys farreri could enhance the activities of GSH-Px,SOD,CA T and decrease the contents of MDAin the su pernatants of HeLa cells,increase t he concentration of cellular free calciumin the cells,and decrease the rates of apoptosis and cell death of the cells .Conclusions The PCF has the protective effects on the HeLa cells irradiated by ultraviolet B.The mechanism of th is effects of PCF may be mediated by e-liminating the free radicals,by increasing the activities of antioxidative enzymes to inhibit the oxidativ e damages caused by UVB .

This study reported the protective effects of poly-saccharide sulphate (PSS) on experimental model of myocardial infaction by high positioned double - ligation of the anterior descending left coronary artery in rabbits, and on ischemic injury of myocardium by intraperi-toneal injection of isoprenaline in rats. The results showed that PSS could decrease the infarct sizes of rabbits model expressed by ECG mappingof ∑ST segment, NST and NQ, and reduce the activities of CPK in serum. It also showed that PSS reduced the severity of myocardial necrosis and the activies of CPK in serum of the experimental rats . It suggested that PSS have the protective effects on ischemic injury of myocardium.
