Phased national medical licensing examination requires clinical students to have the ability to apply basic medical knowledge to solve comprehensive clinical problems. But the traditional teaching patterns of Medical Microbiology experiments can no longer meet requirements of actual education effect. In order to accommodate new situation, we have integrated medical licensing examination with microbiology experimental teaching syllabus and contents. We have also comprehensively applied a variety of teaching methods and curriculum formative assessment in class. These reforming methods have efficiently improved classroom teaching effect and greatly inspired the enthusiasm of students, and effectively improved early clinical thinking ability and innovation ability of students.

Objective To investigate the effect of enteral nutrition (EN) on the T lymphocytes-mediated immune function in patients with acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). Methods Totally 79 AIDS patients were randomly divided into enteral nutrition ( EN ) group ( supported with EN daily in addition to conventional treatment; n = 46) and control group (underwent conventional treatment only; n = 33 ). T lymphocytes including CD3, CD4, and CD8 cells as well as blood biochemical parameters including alanine aminotransferase ( ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), glucose ( Glu ), total protein (TP), albumin ( ALB ), blood urea nitrogen (BUN) , Cr, and prealbumin (PA) were determined immediately before management (T0) and on the 30th day(T1). Results ALT, AST, Glu, TP, ALB, BUN, Cr, and PA showed no significant differences between these two groups before management ( all P > 0. 05 ). The levels of TP ( P = 0. 015), ALB ( P = 0. 007 ), and PA ( P =0. 022 ) were significantly higher in EN group than those in control group at T1. The cell counts of CD3, CD4, and CD8 were not significantly different at T0, while the cell count of CD4 was significantly higher in EN group than that in control group at T1 ( P < 0. 05 ). Conclusion EN can improve the nutritional status and T lymphocytesmediated immune function in AIDS patients.

BACKGROUND: Cervical spinal cord injury without radiographic abnormality (SCIWORA) is a special type of spinal cord injury. Because of the particularity of children in the period of growth and development on the aspects of anatomy and biomechanics, their injured mechanism and therapeutic method differ from those of adults.OBJECTIVE: To explore clinical feature and therapy of first-episode cervical SCIWORA in children.DESIGN: Retrospective analysis and self pre-and post-control observation.SETTING: Department of Spine Surgery, Second Affiliated Hospital,Harbin Medical University.PARTICIPANTS: Totally 14 patients with cervical SCIWORA, who were treated at the Departmentof Spine Surgery, Second Affiliated Hospital,Harbin Medical University between June 1997 and June 2003. Inclusive criteria: ①patients who had dysfunction of sensation, exercise and sphincter to different degree in clinic, ②patients who had no fracture dislocation after cervical vertebra X-ray plain film and MRI examination. The MRI examination showed the sign of spinal cord injury. T1WI spinal cord became thick. T2WI distributed at strip-shape high-signal region along spinal prosenchyma and spread upward and downward. There were 3 patients with complete spinal cord injury and 11 patients with incomplete spinal cord injury, among the patients with incomplete injury, there were 6 patients with central cord syndrome (CCS), 3 with Brown-Sequard syndrome and 2withfrontal spinal cord injury syndrome.METHODS: Retrospective analysis was performed in 14 children patients with cervical SCIWORA. Thirteen patients were not treated with operation and one patient was treated with cervical posterior atlantoaxial fusion. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: ASIA grading before and after treatment in patients.RESULTS: There were 1 dead patient and 13 cases with 3-year follow up averagely. Three patients were with insignificant amelioration, and others had recovery of limb function to different degree. According to ASIA grading standard, before treatment there were 3 cases in A grade, 5 cases in B grade, 5 cases in C grade and 1 case in D grade, and after treatment there were 1 case recovering to B grade, 2 cases to C grade, 5 cases to D grade and 2 cases to E grade.CONCLUSION: Restoration of neurofunction of children with cervical SCIWORA has closely correlation with degree of primary injury of spinal cord. Most of the patients were not treated with operation, and those with obviously instable cervical vertebra can be treated with operation.

Type 2 innate lymphoid cells ( ILC2s) are recently identified members of the innate lymphoid cell ( ILC) family. These cells are capable of producing Th2-type cytokines such as IL-5 and IL-13 in response to epithelial cell-derived cytokines IL-25 and IL-33 and play critical roles in allergic diseases such as bronchial asthma. Further investigations on ILC2s will enhance the better understanding of type 2 immune responses and may provide new strategies for the treatment of allergic asthma. In this review, we fo-cus on the origin, location and biological function of ILC2s as well as their possible roles in the pathogenesis of bronchial asthma.

Objective:To explore the method of the establishment of edentulous mandible All-on-4 implant photoelastic model with various distally tilted implants by computer-aided design(CAD).Methods:The edentulous mandible specimen was scanned by CT. Three-dimensional models of the mandible consisting of implant location were reconstructed and edited with Mimics and Geomagic Stu-dio software. Each of the four models had four implant sockets in the interforaminal area.In the first model, the bilateral distal im-plants were placed vertically. In the other models, the posterior implants were respectively inclined by 1 5°,30°and 45°distally.The four models were manufactured by RP and then the All-on-4 photoelastic models were made by traditional ways. Results:The ob-tained ethoxyline resin models featured bright surface, homogeneous structure, faintly yellowish, high optical sensibility, precision im-plants location and with no natural stress. The model offered a good experimental basis for the stress measurement. Conclusion:The method of fabricating ethoxyline resin models by CAD is reproducible, which simplifies the operating process.

Objective:To study the inhibitory effect of clarithromycin on angiogenesis induced by b-FGF. Methods:TheMatrigel implant assay was used. Matrigel (500?l) containing b-FGF and heparin were injected subcutaneously into the ab-domen of mice and were harvested 5 d later. The amount of hemoglobin and micro-vascular area present in the implant weremeasured and cotnpared. The mice were given either CAM (study group) or the same volume of glucose (vehicle group) oncea day by gastric intubation. Treatmen started 3 d before Matrigel implant and continued until the end of study. Results:Clar-ithromycin reduced hemoglobin content and micro-vascular area in Matrigel implant at high dosage(≥40 mg/(kg?d). Con-clusion:These data demonstrate that clarithromycin is a potent inhibitor of angiogenesis and may has possible therapeutic value in controlling pathologic angiogenesis.

Chinese Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism 2000;0(06):-
The single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) of vitamin D receptor (VDR) gene were determined by BsmI restriction endonuclease analysis and quantitative ultrasonography indexes (QUI) of calcaneum were measured in Tibetan women. The results showed that there were no statistical differences between QUI of different genetypes and between distribution frequencies of gene types in young women and menopausal women. And it was found that the SNP of VDR by BsmI restriction endonuclease analysis was not relevant to bone mass acquisition and rate of bone mass loss.
