1.Postoperative resuscitation and renal preservation among corpses with cardiac arrest
Journal of Vietnamese Medicine 1999;233(2):70-73
A study was carried out the renal lesions after cardiac arrest among corpses to prepare the renal transplantation that the kidney donated by carpses. Donor was a woman suffered the traffic accident had cardiac arrest. The study also was carried out on a dog with cardiac arrest by blood loss induced shock. The results have shown that the removal of the kidney was only at good within 15 minutes after cardiac arrest and the duration of renal blood insufficiency was less than 15 minutes to obtain the kidney with good functions.

2.Treatment of hydrocephalus with meningitis - ventriculitis, cyst tumors and brain abcesses by hand-made reservoir
Journal of Vietnamese Medicine 1999;232(1):198-203
Hydrocephalus with ventriculitis, meningitis is a difficult problem to manage due to the impossibility of applying the ventrioculo-peritoneal shunt to reduce the intracranial pressure. The cerebro-spinal fluid can not also be drained outside for longterm by a tube. To solve this problem, the authors have used the hand-made reservoir which bases on the Salmon Rickham Reservoir to withdraw the cerebro-spinal fluid and to inject drugs into ventricles. This procedure is also applied to the brain abscess and cerebral cystic tumor.

Journal of Medical Research 2007;55(6):1-5
Background:The progress of the cardiac intervention technique has been changed the doctors' viewpoint in the treatment for congenital cardiac. In the past years, treatment for congenital cardiac needed to surgery but nowadays, the cardiac intervention technique are being applied in many Cardiac Centers with very good results. This technique also helped to prevent the complication in cardiac operation. Objectives:This study aims to report the results for cardiac intervention in National Hospital of Pediatrics. Subjects and method:A prospective study was conducted on 298 children diagnosed with patent ductus arteriosus, atrial septal defect (ASD), ventricular septal defect, coarctation, pulmonary stenosis (PS), aortic stenosis (AS), small patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) infant with pulmonary atresia - ventricular septal defect (VSD) and Dextro- transposition of the great arteries (d- TGA) with intact ventricular septum at National hospital of Pediatric between June 2004and October 2006. Results: Transcatheter closure of PDA, ASD by Amplatzer or Coil was safe and effective. Critically ill children diagnosed with PS, AS and Coarctation may be saved by valvuloplasty and angioplasty procedures. Catheter interventions avoided the needs for surgery without scars. Catheter interventions had low complications. Conclusion: The hospitalized duration was short so the expenditures reduced.

Journal of Malaria and parasite diseases Control 2004;0(3):56-60
Background: WHO recommends that malaria drug should be used with essential elements which are derivatives of artemisinin (ART) for treatment phase and limit the development of parasite (MIC). Objective: To assess in vitro effect of artemisinin powder and 10 alpha- trifluoro methyl hydroartemisinin (TEMHA) in powder and tablet form to P.falciparum. Subject and Method: 48h in vitro test of Phuc Nguyen Dinh was applied to this study. Results and Conclusions: The results showed that: for T996, IC50 values of ART, 10 alpha- TEMHA powder and 10 alpha- TEMHA pill were as follows: 37.8; 16.4 and 17.6 nM/L, respectively. For K1, IC50 values of ART, 10 alpha- TEMHA powder and 10 alpha- TEMHA pill were: 22.8; 11.4 and 12.2 nM/L, respectively. MIC values of artemisinin powder, 10 alpha- TEMHA powder and pill for T996 were as follows: 100; 40 and 40nM/L, respectively. For K1, MIC values of ART, 10 alpha- TEMHA powder and pill are: 76; 24; 32 nM/L, respectively.

Mycobiology 2020;48(4):296-303
Three yeast strains (Hue-1, Hue-8, and Hue-19) with strong heavy metal tolerance were isolated from mangosteen from Hue city, Vietnam. They exhibited identical phenotype and phylogeny. Sequence analysis of the D1/D2 region of the LSU rRNA gene and the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region demonstrated that the closest relative of these strains is Papiliotrema sp. with 2.12% and 3.55–3.7% divergence in the D1/D2 domain, and ITS domain, respectively. Based on the physiological, biochemical, and molecular data, the three strains belong to a novel species of Papiliotrema genus, for which the namePapiliotrema huenov sp. nov. is proposed. These strains are highly tolerant of heavy metals compared to other yeasts, being able to grow in the presence of 2 mM Pb (II), 2 mM Cd (II), and up to 5 mM Ni (II), but no growth was observed in the presence of 1 mM As (III).

As authorities braced for the arrival of the Omicron variant of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), infrastructure investments and government directives prompted action in central Viet Nam to establish capacity for genomic surveillance sequencing. From 17 November 2021 to 7 January 2022, the Pasteur Institute in Nha Trang sequenced 162 specimens from 98 150 confirmed SARS-CoV-2 cases in the region collected from 8 November to 31 December 2021. Of these, all 127 domestic cases were identified as the B.1.617.2 (Delta) variant, whereas 92% (32/35) of imported cases were identified as the B.1.1.529 (Omicron) variant, all among international flight passengers. Patients were successfully isolated, enabling health-care workers to prepare for additional cases. Most (78%) of the 32 Omicron cases were fully vaccinated, suggesting continued importance of public health and social measures to control the spread of new variants.
