5.Color-Doppler for assessing chronic venous insufficiency
Journal of Medical and Pharmaceutical Information 2003;0(3):35-36
84 patients with chronic venous insufficiency (30 males and 54 females, between 29-88 years old) were examined by color-Doppler. Reflux Venous Index was determined by pressing calf of legs when standing. Results: time, peak velocity of flow when releasing were higher than these when pressing. The mean Reflux Venous Index was 8.25. The more advantaged clinical stage, the higher Reflux Venous Index. This disease was more common at age >60 years old

Korean Journal of Dermatology 2003;41(10):1374-1377
Behcet's disease is a systemic vascular disorder induced by autoimmune mechanisms. As a vascular complication of Behcet's disease, thrombophlebitis has been commonly reported. Stasis dermatitis results from prolonged venous insufficiency including thrombophlebitis, which implies the possibilities of association between stasis dermatitis and Behcet's disease. We present a 51-year-old man with Behcet's disease accompanied with asymptomatic brownish ill-defined patch on the left leg. This case suggests that stasis dermatitis might be associated with Behcet's disease by complication of vascular system.

7.Intrapelvic Granulomatous Mass Causing Ipsilateral Lower Leg Swelling following Total Hip Arthroplasty: A Case Report.

The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 2008;43(1):107-111
The usual causes of unilateral lower extremity swelling after total hip arthroplasty include deep vein thrombosis, chronic venous insufficiency and less frequently an infection or a neoplasm. Unilateral deep vein thrombosis or swelling of the lower extremity due to an intrapelvic granulomatous mass after total hip arthroplasty is quite unusual. We report a rare case of a patient with an intrapelvic granulomatous mass causing deep vein thrombosis and unilateral lower leg swelling after total hip arthroplasty with a review of the relevant literature.

8.Early results of surgical treatment of chronic venous insufficiency of the lower limbs at Binh Dan and NhanDan Gia Dinh Hospital
Journal Ho Chi Minh Medical 2003;7(2):109-112
Retrospective study on 56 patients (24 males, 32 females) with chronic venous insufficiency of the lower limbs that CEAP classification from 2 to 5 degree. Most of them got a job needed long standing as textile employee, teacher. 58.9% had been dissected by ligation the venous tranks with stripping them, 25% had been Muller operation alone for other branches. Good result was 92%, complications was not serious, the rate of damage of tranks neuvous was 7,2% in internal ankle area - To reduce the treatment of internal medicine

In 2009 Paolo Zamboni et al. implicated that chronic cerebral venous congestion lead to the development of multiple sclerosis. In this review, we examined the role of chronic cerbrospinal venous insufficiency in multiple sclerosis and the proposed therapy entailing venous angioplasty and stenting of extracranial veins with available evidence to date.

10.Venous Stasis and Ulceration Due to Congenital Absence of Inferior Vena Cava
Journal of the Korean Society for Vascular Surgery 1998;14(1):136-139
Congenital absence of inferior vena cava is an uncommon abnormality. With advent of modern imaging techniques such cases are being found with increasing frequency. I report the case of an otherwise healthy 44-year-old man with severe venous insufficiency involving both lower extremities manifested by multiple ulcerations. This condition was caused by a combination of congenital and acquired factors. Ulcerations were managed successfully with aggressive conservative treatment.
