Journal of Preventive Medicine 2007;17(6):5-10
Background Nha Trang Institute of Vaccines Medical Biologicals has produced successfully vaccine for human influenza A/H5N1 in embryonic chicken eggs. Effectiveness of the vaccine immune response is highly dependent on the type of adjuvant used.\r\n', u'Objective: To study adjuvants for preparing A/H5N1 influenza vaccine.\r\n', u'Subjects and methods: The study used a comparative approach on capacity to increase the immune response of various adjuvants AIPO4, Chitosan and Freund tested in mice. Experiment of erythrocyte agglutination reaction is used to measure levels of antibody response in mice blood. The process of weight gain in mice after injection of vaccine adjuvant mixture is monitored.\r\n', u'Results: HA antibody level of the vaccine adjuvant mixture is higher than of the vaccine without adjuvant. Capacity of stimulating immune response of Chitosan adjuvant is higher than AlPO4. Repeat injection on day 20th is suitable for vaccine with AlPO4or vaccine without adjuvant. Repeat injection is after day 20th for vaccine with Chitosan or Freund depending on the amount of residual antibody in the blood. \r\n', u'Capacity of stimulating immune response of Freund adjuvant is the best in the 3 adjuvants but the safety of this adjuvant is low\r\n', u' Freund adjuvant should be used only for animals. When using Freund adjuvant to induce immunity to animals it should determine the amount of antibodies causing immune before repeating.\r\n', u'Conclusion: Freund adjuvant should be used only for animals. \r\n', u'\r\n', u'

3.Study on the Optimum Conditions For the Expression Of Human Recombinant Proinsulin In E.Coli - BL21(DE3) with pET - 28a(+) Vector
Journal of Medical Research 2008;0(1):56-61
Introduction: There are thousands of diabetes sufferers worldwide. In addition, there is an increased trend in Vietnam due to economic development, increased population, lifespan, and changing lifestyle. Insulin is a hormone, which is a natural protein. It plays an important role in the transformation of glucose in human and animal blood. Note, while insulin has not been produced in Vietnam, the production of recombinant Proinsulin is a premise for insulin. This study is based on a successful design of pET - 28a (+) Vector with recombinant Proinsulin codified gene.\r\n', u'Objectives: To define the human proinsulin codified gene and study the optimum conditions for the expression of proinsulin. \r\n', u'Subjects and method: To discover the appropriate conditions for the expression of proinsulin, including initial cell density, cultural temperature, IPTG concentration, and expression time. The product of the expression was confirmed by Sodium dodecyl sulfate - polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SOS - PAGE) and reconfirmed by Western blotting with His - Tag antibody. \r\n', u'Results: Proinsulin expression was successfully proved by SOS - PAGE and Western blotting. Four appropriate conditions for the expression were confirmed as highlighted in the Conclusion. \r\n', u'Conclusion: The appropriate conditions for expression of proinsulin: cell density was 00600 0.6 - 1.0; the cultural temperature was 300C; IPTG concentration was 0.4 mM; the length of the culture time was 20 hours. \r\n', u'

4.The variation of blood biochemical indices before and after treating Basedow’s disease using propyl thiouracyl
Journal of Practical Medicine 2004;480(5):19-21
After a 4 weeks of treatment by propyl thyouracil, the biochemical indices of Basedow disease had changed obviously: triiodothyronin (T3) high level (7.95 ± 1.58 nmol/l before treatment) had increased dramatically (1.98 ± 0.54 nmol/l), total thyroxin (T4) high level (257.56 ± 47.45 nmol/l before treatment) had decreased dramatically (1278.04 ± 10.82 nmol/l). FT4 serum level high level had decreased after treatment. TSF low level before treatment had increased. But after treatment glucose level had increased unsignificantly versus that before. In severe condition blood cholesterol had increased, but in moderate and mild condition, there was no change.

6.Study on the changes of biochemical index in rabbit blood before and after receiving "Thap toan dai bo" tablet
Journal of Practical Medicine 2004;490(10):20-22
Two spectices of health Rabbit weighing 1,8-2,5 kg were descriptive in comparing before and after studying. Oral administration with "thap toan dai bo" pills- a traditional medicine, in experimental showed that the pill haft an effect to vary some biochemical indices of rabbit. However these variation did not influence on the normal metabolism of the animal as well as on the biochemical function, for instance in glucose with the comparative coefficients of P>0,05, proted P>0,05 and some other indices of chlolesterol, triglycerid… with P>0,05. These comparative coefficient had not statistical significance.

8.Sensitivity and specificity of glycolipid antigens in serodiagnosis of tuberculosis
Journal of Medical Research 2003;0(2):11-16
To find out specific antigens to M. tuberculosis, the researchers searched for sensitivity, specificity and cross reactions of 6 glycolipid antigens which were extracted and purified from M. tuberculosis with 168 sera by ELISA. The 168 samples were divided into 3 groups: Group I: 62 lung tuberculosis patients with AFB-smear positive; group II: 53 healthy persons and group III: 53 infectious other than tuberculosis patients. There were 6 glycolipid antigens were used in this study, they were Phosphoinositomannoside (P2), 6, 6’-dimycolyltrehalose (cord factor) (DT), Trehalose monomycolate (MT), Phenol glycolipid (PA), Glycolipid (MI) and Glycopeptide (Co). The sensitivity and specificity of DT. MT and PA antigens were 74.2; 66.1; 69, 4% and 83.0; 69.8%; 73.6%, respectively; cross reaction ranging from 22.6% to 39.6%. The sensitivity and specificity of other antigens were lower and its cross reactions were higher than DT, MT and PA antigens. ELISA with specific glycolipid antigens can be used to diagnose extra-lung tuberculosis and lung tuberculosis with AFB(-).
