1.Nevus Lipomatosus Cutaneous Superficialis: Report of A Case.
Korean Journal of Dermatology 1981;19(6):927-931
Nevus lipomatosus cutaneous superficialis is a very rare skin disease which is characterized by the ectopic presence of rnature adipose tissue in the dermis. There are two clinical variants. The first type is the multiple lesions of zonal distribution usually on the buttocks or the lower back area. Sometimes coalescence of the papules tend to form cerebriform plaques. The second type is the solitary papule or nodule with less restricted tendency in its distribution. We describe a 24-year-old female patient who had a soft yellowish, well defined, fetal head-sized cerebriform tumor with comedo-like plugs on the right buttock and the perineal area. The skin lesions began about 10 years ago and gradually increased in size. Routine laboratory findings were within the normal limit. Histopathological findings are hyperkeratosis, acanthosis, deep crypt-like indenation in the epidermis, and ectopic collection of mature adipose tissue in the derrnis. Diagnosis was confirrned by clinical and histopathological findings. Literature was briefly reviewed for discussion.

Massive hemorrhage into an intracranial neurinoma is a rare event. A 42-year old man noticed hearing loss, nystagmus, diplopia and paresthesia on the left side of the face. A computerized tomography scan demonstrated a large high density mass in the left cerebellopontine angle. The tumor was successfully removed and postoperative course was favorable. Such a case of acoustic neurinoma which revealed itself through intratumoral hemorrhage has not been previously reported in Korea.

The clinical observations regarding cutaneous manifestations of in-and outpatients with diabetes mellitus was performed in the Diabetic Clinic, Seoul National University Hospital during the period of 11 months from April, 1979 to March, 1980. The number of patients were total 525, 268 in male and 257 in female. The average age of patients was 51. 1 year-old. Results were as follows, 1. In the 525 patients, 270 patients (51. 1%) revealed various cutaneous manifestations. 2. There were statistical significant differences in sex distributions of infection, pruritus, shin spots, rubeosis and bullosis diabeticorum. 3. Systemic complications sush as retinopathy, neuropathy, nephropathy and hypertension were more frequently observed in the patients with skin microangiopathy than with infection or pruritus. 4. There were not any correlations between fasting blood sugar and cutaneous manifestations

6.A Case of Eosinophilic Leukemia.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1981;19(4):533-539
Eosinophilic leukemia is a rare variant of granulocytic leukemia. It has distinct clinical features to involve central nervous system, heart, lung and skin more frequently than other leukemia and laboratory findings to reveal persistent eosinophilia with immature tendency, leukocytosis, anernia, thrombocytopenia and usually negative philadelphia chromosome in cytogenetic study. We describe a 33 year-old male patient who has suffered from generalizid weakness exertional dyspnea and has had well defined, hen eggs ized, oval shaped and non-in-durated ulcerative lesions on the right thigh since about 4 months prior to admission. The laboratory findings were persistent leukocytosis, eosinophilia and immature tendency in peripheral blood, nearly 100% cellularity and eosinophilic tendency (70%) in bone marrow aspiration and biopsy, and negative philadelphia chromosome in cytogenetic study. A biopsy specimen from ulcer margin showed relatively intact epidermis and heavy cellular infiltration composed of eosinophilic cytoplasm, dark and indented nucleus in entire dermis. Normal appearing skin also revealed same cellular infiltration in dermis with perivascular and periadnexal pattern.

6 patients underwnet CT-guided stereotactic biopsy or hematoma aspiration procedure for posterior fossa lesions. Trajectory for biopsy or aspiration was transcerebellar approach. The patients were placed under general endotracheal anesthesia and positioned prone or sitting. No complications were encountered in the postoperative period when this technique was used. Stereotaxic transcerebellar multiple biopsy can safely provide tissue conformation of the neoplastic nature of a posterior fossa lesion thought to be a tumor. In addition, hematoma aspiration has been demonstrated to be safe, reliable, and efficient.

10.Ethical Guidelines on Fetal Mesencephalic Transplantation.
Journal of Korean Neurosurgical Society 1994;23(3):295-298
Research or therapy involving human fetal tissue has been subject of intense political and ethical debate in many country for almost two decades. Especially, Transplantation of cells or tissues from aborted fetuses to treat Parkinson's disease shows great clinical promise but it has some ethical or legal controversy. We can expect that demand of fetal brain tissue is increased explosively near future. So we have to establish our own eithical guidelines urgently. In this article authors report several basic medical or ethical issues which the fetal mesencephalic transplantation brings up inevitably and suggest our own ethical guidelines.
