3.Preliminary remarks on the use of CT scanner in comparing with pathologic anatomy in diagnosis of tumor of parotis saliva glandula
Journal of Practical Medicine 2004;483(7):17-18
17 patients aged 18-72 years old were treated in Ha Noi Odonto-maxil -facial Institute with the diagnosis of tumor of parotid saliva glandula. Pathologic-amatomical diagnosis using CT scanner was limited for parotid glandula, this did not suggest accurately about cytological cause, only pathological anatomy could play the affirmative role on diagnosis. CT scanning permits to assess precisely the location, the size, the intensity, the frontier and the broading of the tumor. However, this technique could not evaluate the branch duct system of the gland obviously, comprehensively and it requires modern equipments with high cost for the patient.

Journal of Preventive Medicine 2008;97(5):32-37
Background: Success in preventing HIV transmission from mother to child has been confirmed, however intervention remains difficult in both services and access barriers due to discrimination and stigma. Objectives: To clarify the HIV prevalence in pregnant women and evaluate the indicators related to the impact of intervention on prevention of mother-to child transmission of HIV. Subjects and method: This study was carried out in 5 districts in 5 provinces that implemented the Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT) Project. The interventions included the training to provide knowledge, skills on counseling, testing and supervision on PMTCT. The data were collected from designed-questionaires. Results:The results showed there are 100% of pregnant women that came for antenatal visits, had voluntary test counseling. The prevalence of HIV (+) among pregnant women was 0,43%. There were 57 infants born to mothers with HIV (+); received prophylaxis treatment. At the time of the study, there were 31 infants at 18 months of age that received HIV test and all of them were confirmed as negative. Conclusion: Intervention on PMTCT was effectively achieved and should be expanded nationally. Communication, counseling is very important to encourage pregnant women with HIV (+); visit for antenatal care, followed up by health facility and strict adherence to the PMCT schedule to diminish the chance of transmission to their infants.

Journal of Medical and Pharmaceutical Information 2003;0(11):34-38
Background: HbA1c quantification is the first important work in long- term controlling of diabetes, which helps to assess the status of diabetes from 2 to 3 months before testing. HbA1c is essential testing to follow up compliance with treatment or not of patients.
', u'Objectives: To study the role of blood HbA1c and micoalbuminuria in the treatment of diabetes.
', u'Subjects and methods: The study was conducted on 124 patients (71 male and 53 female) suffering from diabetes mellitus. Among them, 124 patients were tested for blood HbA1c, 52 patients were tested for both blood HbA1c and micoalbuminuria. The study used the automatic immunological and biochemical techniques.
', u'Results: Concentration of HbA1c was 8.10\xb12.65%, glycemia 9.83\xb14.82mmol/l, urinary micro albumin 76.5\xb196.90mg/l.
', u'There was close relationship between glycaemia and HbA1c; but the relation between micoalbuminuria with HbA1c and glycaemia was not found. The control of diabetes mellitus was poor if glycaemia over 10.0mmol/l and/or HbA1c over 10%.
', u'Conclusion: The techniques applied in the study were precise, rapid and convenient for the patients.
', u'

A 38-year-old female patient, with healthy history, was vaccinated with ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 (Astra Zeneca Cambridge, UK). Five days after the second injection, the patient presented headache, vertigo, then fatigue, nervousness, palpitations, shortness of breath, small amplitude tremors, and sweating episodes. Laboratory investigation revealed a suppressed thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), with elevated free thyroxine. However, the TSH receptor antibody and anti-thyroid peroxidase antibody were normal and thyroid-stimulating immunoglobulin negative. The patient was maintained on Metoprolol, and no specific treatment was added. After 3 months of following, the patient now feels comfortable. Our literature review found that 21 cases of subacute thyroiditis (SAT) following coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines were reported. Most patients were young women who presented neck pain and systemic symptoms, with or without fever. These symptoms can appear as early (3 to 5 days), or later (1 month) after vaccination, regardless of vaccine type and mechanism of action. Laboratory tests showed decreased levels of TSH and elevated thyroid hormone. The mechanism of this event remains unknown. Further study is recommended to investigate the possible predisposing factors to developing SAT after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.

Journal of Medical Research 2008;54(2):97-102
Background: According to statistical data of the Vietnam Ministry of Health, there were 124,223 people with positive HIV, 23,661 AIDS patients and 13,649 AIDS- related deaths up to April 30th 2007. The major transmission route is injection. Objectives: (1) To compare the characteristics of drug use in users with different time. (2) To describe the health issues and health service access of young male drug users. Subjects and method: A cross-sectional survey was carried out using a combination of medical anthropology and epidemiology methods. 1.115 young male drug users in Ha Noi between September 2004 and September 2005 were divided into 4 groups of the equivalence number, but with different drug using history. Results and conclusion: The newer drug users (within 2 years) started using drug later than the older ones, more of them started using by injecting; they transfer from smoking/sniffing to injecting as well as trying and using more different types of drugs together in shorter time than others. The proportion of HIV (+) infection in these people was higher, which states the necessity of intervention to help them enhance their knowledge to prevent HIV infection amongst themselves. Mental health care is also needed for drug users, the demand for mental health care increases with the time of drug usage.

Introduction: The need for gama – globulin, especially gama - globulin - anti – HBs, is huge in Vietnam. A number of patients cannot to afford use them due to the high price as they are imported. Meanwhile, Vietnam has high quality input sources for producing gama – globulin.
', u'Objectives: To study the production process of gama - Globulin from Human Plasma and Standard gama - Globulin with Rich of Anti – HBs.
', u'Subjects and method: 168 samples of human plasma from voluntary blood donors, which had been screened with for transfusion transmittable infections (TTLs), were chosen as plasma with rich of anti - HBs. The plasma with anti - HBsAg was precipitated with ethanol 25%, pH 6,9 to gain gama - globulin with rich anti - HBs, which was dried by Dutch Ly - 3 - TTE machine. Activation of anti - HBs gama - globulin was identified by a standard method of the degree of antibody specific for anti - HBsAg kit of BIORAD,
', u'Results: The purity of the gama - globulin achieved was 93%, which was almost equal with the results of some foreign researchers (7.8), the activation of anti - HBs was 1:128 dilution degree. The productivity of gama - globulin gaining from 1 litter plasma was 6.0 gram. This new issue was first demonstrated in Vietnam.
', u'Conclusion: We can domestically produce anti-Bs gama - globulin with high degree of activeness (1:128) from human plasma by the precipitating method with ethanol, pH and low temperature.
', u'
