Acase of trigeminal neuralgia caused by a contralateral acoustic neurinoma is presented. After removal of the tumor, the neuralgic pain has completely disappeared. The pathophysiology of this entity is briefly reviewed. The neuralgic pain may be caused by the compression of the contralateral trigeminal nerve by the mass effect in this case.

Trigeminal neuralgia has been treated in many ways, both medical and surgical. We wished to determine the efficancy of low frequency electrical acupuncture therapy for nine patients suffering from trigeminal neuralgia with Model 6,26 and G6805 Electrotherapeutic Apparatus. The results were as follows: (1)Initisl.beneficial during 1aw frequency electrical acupuncture therapy was recognized in a11 cases (2) Longterm.baneficial effect was seen in 77%, excluding 3 cases with no improvement. (3) Low frequency elactrical acupuncture therapy seemed to be valuable, preceding medical and .surgical treatment for acute trigemieal neuralgia.

Chemical destruction of Gasserian ganglion by either alcohol or phenol has remained a popular form of treatment for tic pain. However, control of the lesion size is inaccurate and various complications have often resulted. With advent of radiofrequency generator, percutaneous coagulation of the Gasserian ganglion is now possible, and the need for open surgery or chemical destruction have been drastically reduced. We treated 3 cases of trigeminal neuralgia with the radiofrequency current. Modified Hartel's anterior appaorch for the injection of the Gasserian ganglion is utilized and the radiofrequency lesions were made in the second branches of the trigeminal nerve selectively preserving the touch sensation in our patients. We reviewed the literature and described the technical procedures.

A case of epidermoid cyst in the cerebello-pontine angle, resulting in trigeminal neuralgia, is presented. There were no abnormal findings in the clinical and radiologic examination except the typical neuralgic pain. The tumor was found incidentally during posterior fossa exploration for neurovascular decom pression of the trigeminal nerve under diagnosis of primary trigeminal neuralgia. The patient was treated with only removal of the tumor.
