1.Clinical significance of hepatitis B virus genotypes in patients with acute viral hepatitis B
Journal of Practical Medicine 2005;512(5):40-43
In the study, 30 hepatitis B patients (23 males, 7 females, mean age 33.5 years) treated in Hue Central Hospital and the Hue Medical University Hospital from September 2004 to March 2005 were evaluated to find out the clinical significance of hepatitis B virus genotypes in acute viral hepatitis B. The results: 73.3% of the patients with common jaundice and 26.7% with long-term jaundice. The rate of HBeAg(+) in participants accounted for 43.3%. The rate of HBeAg(+) was similar between male and female. There were 8 patients with genotype B and 4 patients with genotype C. 25% of genotype B patients were female, while all of genotype C patients were male. The genotype C patients had jaundice period lasting more than 4 weeks. 80% of genotype B patients completely recovered and only 50% of patients became chronic disease. 100% of genotype C patients became chronic disease.

2.Primarily evaluation of the efficacy of fortec in the treatment of the hepatitis B
Journal of Practical Medicine 2000;383(6):41-43
Fortec (Biphenyl Dimethyl Dicarboxylate) was synthesized from Fructus Schisandrae, one traditional medicine of China. A randomized, compared trial was carried out at Department of Infectious Disease, Hue Central Hospital from 06.1997 to 12.1999, by using Fortec in treatment of viral hepatitis B. 108 patients with acute and chronic hepatitis B were divided into 2 groups. One group took Fortec and the other did not. The patients with acute hepatitis B had not any difference in two groups except the clinical symptoms such as fatigue and anorexia were faster improved in the group taking Fortec also showed to be improved after 3 weeks of treatment. After 6 weeks SGPT was normalized in 82,4% patients from the Fortec group in comparison with 64% in non Fortec group with p<0,01, Prothrombin time was normalized in 76,4% patients in the first group compared with 60% in second group. No side effect was recognized. Fortec is effective in treatment of viral hepatitis B, especially chronic hepatitis.
