1.The HIV/AIDS real status and risk behaviours of HIV infection among injecting drug users and commercial sex workers in Dongthap-4/2003
Journal of Medical and Pharmaceutical Information 2004;0(2):31-35
Studying total number of 1,404 HIV infected persons, including 716 AIDS manifestation and 245 AIDS deaths in Dong Thap province from 3/2003 - 4/2003 showed that: the new infectious number of HIV in this province has been increasing quickly; Dong Thap ranks tenth in ten provinces having highest HIV/100,000 people rate (89.53%). Although, the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Dong Thap is still in concentrated period but the distribution of HIV infection with 3% children and 2.8% pregnant women is a worried problem. Moreover, quantity and risk behaviors of HIV/AIDS infection in commercial sex workers and injecting drug users are also worried problems. Basing on these results, Dong Thap should mobilize all potential resources to implement quickly the measures including unnamed test counseling and activities which prevent mother-baby HIV spread helping reduce damaging effect in high risk people

2.Some pathological anatomic features of testicular cancer
Journal of Medical and Pharmaceutical Information 2003;10():35-38
It’s very important to identify pathological anatomic features in the treatment and prognosis of testicular cancer. In this study, 112 patients who were diagnosed by clinical and paraclinical symptoms were classified according to age, location, and severity. Their samples then were stained by PSA test. Results: 49% were germ cell tumors of scrotum, 9% were none germ cell tumors, and 42% were dystopic germ cell tumors. Base on pathological anatomic features (stage, location) we can apply different methods of treatment to gain better outcomes

3.The HIV/AIDS real situation and risk behaviors of HIV infected subject among injecting drug users and commercial sex workers in Kien Giang – 12/2002
Journal of Medical and Pharmaceutical Information 2003;0(11):27-30
The survey last from Dec 9th to Dec 18 th 2002 with total number of 1558 HIV infected persons, including 344 AIDS manifestation; 160 AIDS deaths. is one among the provinces having highest number of HIV infection. The distribution of HIV infection is mainly in groups with high risk behaviors: infecting drug users 23.5%, prisoners 9.2%, STDs patients 8.4%, commercial sex workers 6.9%, male is four folds female;young age:20-29 makes up 55%. Total of 802 addicted person now in Kien giang, in which 54% are injecting drug users; 20-35% are shared needle and syringe; 20% shared drug bottle, 10% shared cleaning water for needle and syringe. Number of abused drug still increasing especially in Rach gia town. Prostitution activities is multiform and mobile both in the mainland and boat

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common primary hepatic tumor and one of the most common cancers worldwide. HCC is a primary malignancy of hepatocellular origin. Objectives:The aim of study is to combinate therapy of transarterial chemoembolization and percutaneousethanol injection afterward emerging metatasis caused by fine needle aspiration cytology. Subjects and method: A 50 years old male patient with hepatocellular carcinoma having a diameter of tumor more than 5 cm was treated by combination of transarterial chemoembolization and percutaneous ethanol injection from December 2000. Results & Conclusion: Results of study showed that: Transarterial chemoembolization and percutaneous ethanol injection are the two of non-surgical methods for treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma which are most commonly available in applied clinical activities at present. Up to now, the patient's life expectancy after therapy is more than 6 years that means the result of treatment is very good. However, the emerging metatasis into the anterior-right-Iower chest wall that was caused by fine needle aspiration cytology should be reviewed for further evaluating clinical experience, especially in cases with quite clear imaging features of untrasonography and significantly elevated AFP level higher than 200 ng/rnl.

Soluble epoxide hydrolases (sEH) are enzymes present in all living organisms, metabolize epoxy fatty acids to 1,2-diols. sEH in the metabolism of polyunsaturated fatty acids plays a key role in inflammation. In addition, the endogenous lipid mediators in cardiovascular disease are also broken down to diols by the action of sEH that enhanced cardiovascular protection. In this study, sEH inhibitory guided fractionation led to the isolation of five phenolic compounds trans-resveratrol (1), trans-piceatannol (2), sulfuretin (3), (+)-balanophonin (4), and cassigarol E (5) from the ethanol extract of the seeds of Passiflora edulis Sims cultivated in Vietnam. The chemical structures of isolated compounds were determined by the interpretation of NMR spectral data, mass spectra, and comparison with data from the literature. The soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) inhibitory activity of isolated compounds was evaluated. Among them, trans-piceatannol (2) showed the most potent inhibitory activity on sEH with an IC₅₀ value of 3.4 µM. This study marks the first time that sulfuretin (3) was isolated from Passiflora edulis as well as (+)-balanophonin (4), and cassigarol E (5) were isolated from Passiflora genus.
