1.Lymphocyte subpopulation in healthy adults donors of Ho Chi Minh city Viet Nam
Journal of Medical Research 2003;26(6):27-32
The objective of study was to establish reference ranged for the lymphocyte subset (TCD3, TCD4, TCD8, B, NK) in peripheral blood of adult donors. This reference is used like target values for patients examinated in HCM city’s Pasteur Institute and then the results were compared with those obtained in Iranian healthy adults. Healthy person’s blood was processed with EDTA anticoagulation then incubated with 2 groups of antibodies from blood donors contained in 2 diverse tubes CD3/CD8/CD45/CD4 and CD3/CD16,56/CD45/CD19. Then through FASC apparatus, the samples were analyzed, and TCD3, TCD4, TCD8, B, NK were determined in each sample diversely.

3.The epidemiological survey on the relationship between agent orange/dioxin exposure and reproductive anomalies and congenital deformities of inhabitants living in A luoi valley, Thua Thien Hue province
Journal of Vietnamese Medicine 2003;290(11):1-12
Study was conducted on 1048 households with 6068 persons in A Luoi district, Thua Thien Hue province, where herbicides were sprayed heavily in war. The relationship between the quantity of herbicide sprayed in war and the severity of environmental pollution at present was recorded. Epidemiological relationship between the pollution of the enviroment and abnormal reproductivity and congenital defects, which were 1.5-4 times higher after the spray versus before the spray with diverse levels among 3 communes exposed to the spray. The most common abnormal reproductivity was spontaneous abortion, then premature delivery with died infants and congenital defects, the stillbirth and hydratiform mole were with lower rate. Dioxine was transported from the enviroment to human body through the exposed food chain such as chicken, fish, duck

4.Spina bifida occulta among the adult children of veterans exposed to herbicides during wartime was revealed by lumbar vertebra sacral x-rays
Journal of Vietnamese Medicine 2003;290(11):29-34
213 adult subjects, children of veterans exposed to herbicides sprayed during Ranch Hand Operation (in 1961-1971 war period) and 210 non-exposed subjects were investigated by usual lumbar X-ray. The images showed that spina bifida occulta incidence in exposed group was 1.5 times higher than non-exposed group. Among male subjects, in exposed group, the incidence was 1.7 times higher than non-exposed one, while among female subjects, no difference was recorded. Simple single bifida was 51.6% in exposed group and 41.9% in non-exposed. Multiple vertebra of combinated bifida was 7.9% and 2.4% respectively. The common sites of bifida were L5, S1, S2, S3, among them the site of S1 was most common

5.Hepatoprotective effect of Lingzhi extract on CCl4-induced hepatic lesion
Journal of Medicinal Materials - Hanoi 2005;10(3):88-92
Study on hepatoprotective effects of lingzhi extract on CCl4-induced hepatic lesion, lingzhi formulation produced by OPC Company which reached standards at basic level. Lingzhi dry powder was prepared with distilled water to make liquid extract with concentrations of 15% (15g dry extract/100ml water), 30% and 75%. These liquid extracts were used to test hepatoprotective effects. With low dose CCl4 (0,25%) induced hepatic toxication, 15%, 30% and 75% lingzhi extracts showed hepatoprotective effect. However, with high dose CCl4 (1%), only 30% lingzhi extract showed clear and stable hepatoprotective effects. Experimental trials on hepatic diseases as well as on hepatoprotective medications should provide necessary information on physiopathological characteristics and medicinal therapies

6.H.pylori infection status in gastroduodenal ulcer patients and primary evaluations of bacterial antibiotic sensibility at Can Tho General Hospital
Journal of Practical Medicine 2005;510(4):47-49
Study on 100 gastroduodenal ulcer patients treated at Can Tho General Hospital between March and December 2001. Results: the prevalence of gastric ulcer was high (58%), followed by duodenal ulcer (39%) and the prevalence of gastroduodenal ulcer was low (3%). The rate of H.pylori positive was 66.66% in duodenal ulcer patients, 55.17% in gastric ulcer patients. The rate of H.pylori infection was 33.33% in gastroduodenal ulcer patients. H.pylori was still sensitive with amoxicillin (97.29%), tetracycline (94.6%), clarythromycine and erythromycin (72.97%), but was highly resistant with metronidazole (91%).

7.Investigations about the left ventricular diastolic dysfunction of the hypertensive patients in Binh dinh general hospital
Journal of Practical Medicine 2005;505(3):49-51
Back ground: The hypertension may lead the changes of the left ventricular geometry and the left ventricular diastolic dysfunction. There were many investigations about these abnormalities. Moreover, the treatment of the hypertensive patients with or without the left ventricular diastolic dysfunction is quite different. In Binh dinh general hospital, however, the left ventricular dysfuntion were neglected in practice. Thus, in this study, we evaluate the prevalence of these abnormalities in hypertensive patients. Subjects and method: We prospectively studied, from 6/2002 to 11/2003, 200 consecutive hypertensive patients admitted to the Internal Deparment at the Binh Dinh General Hospital. Echocardiography was performed on a Hewlett-Packard Image-Points with 2.5 and 3.5 MHz transducers. Measurements of the size of the ventricular walls are according to ASE. Doppler echocardiography is used to evaluate the characteristics of diastolic transmitral blood flow from the apical four-chaber view. The peak velocities of blood flow during early diastolic filling (E wave) and atrial contraction (A wave), the E-wave decelerating time and parameters of pulmonary venous flow revesal during atrial contraction are measured. The isovolumic relaxation time is measured from the apical-five chamber view. The diagnosis and classification of the left ventricular geometric changes and the abnormal diastolic filling patterns are based on the criteria of Devereux. Results: Prevalence of the left ventricular diastolic dysfunction was 61.5% of the hypertensive patients with the most frequent impaired relaxation pattern (48%). 72.5% of patients have the geometric changes in which the remodelling type consists of 47.5% concentric hypertrophy 25%.

8.To survey on the bacterial cause infected wound and the sensitiveness with antibiotic of isolate microbial strain at surgical department, Can tho General Hospital
Journal of Practical Medicine 2005;505(3):58-59
Wound infection is one of the most important surgical infection and is a high percentage of hospital infection. In general surgical deparment at Can Tho General Hospital from 2001-2002, 110 samples of wound infection were isolated and tested antibiogram. Total of 133 microbial strains were isolated, multi infection is 19.09%, the highest of number of bacterial strain in a sample is 3. E. coli is the most common isolated (26.34%), Klebsiella sp 16.55%, Staphylococcus aureus: 9.78%. The result of antibiogram showed that among cocci gram positive group, lowest resistance antibiotic are vancomycin (6.24%), ciprofloxacin (55.3%); among bacilli negative group most of antibiotic tested were resistant in more than 50%, antibiotics nearly completely resistant were ampicillin (95.92%) and amoxicillin+clavulanic acid (82.35%), amikacin (75.29%). For Pseudomonas, antibiotica are still good effect are ciprofloxacin (90%), colistin (80%). Pseudomonas are still reristant to other antibiotics (50-70%).

9.Elaboration of analytic method and preliminary results of initial investigation on chemical residues of chloro-organo-pesticides in Sanchi (Panax pseudoginseng Wall)
Pharmaceutical Journal 2003;327(7):25-28
A solid phase extraction (SPE) and GC-ECD for multi-residues determination of 14 organo-chlorinated pesticides (OCPs) in radix Pseudo-ginseng were introduced. Using n-hexane as extracting solvent and silica gel for clean up of sample extract, with GC-ECD analysis, good separation of 14 OCPs and carbophenothion(IS) was achieved on capillary column coated with poly(5% diphenyl) siloxane. Experiments showed that n-hexane is adequate as extracting solvent(percentage of recovery70% for 13 in total 14 analyses), the LOD was about 0.35 to 1.6 ppb for blank sample spiked with standards. The method has been carried out on 7 samples collected from market for preliminary investigation of its actual OCPs residues. For 14 OCPs being analysed, results showed that all samples to be examined are complied with requirements of MRL in USP 24 or in Eur. P97.We may conclude that those samples were cultivated in less contaminated soils or none of 14 OCPs was still in illegal use

10.The immunization and the EPI disease situation in the Northern Region of Vietnam, 1991-2001
Journal of Preventive Medicine 2003;13(1):12-16
The rate of immunization was high and maintained continuously 11 years in the Northern Region. Evident, efficacy is the decreasing of incidence of EPI diseases, especially poliomyelitis, neonatal tetanus, and diphtheria. During continuous 8 years (from 1994 to 2001), there has been no wild poliovirus in the Northern Region, and the Region was certificated as polio-free in 2000. Neonatal tetanus has also been eliminated at the provincial level since 1995 and at district level since 1999. The other EPI diseases have been considerably reduced
