Objective To explore the clinical significance of combination detection of serum squamous cell carcinoma antigen (SCC-Ag) and carcino-embryonic antigen (CEA) for the diagnosis,effect evaluation,monitoring and prognosis in cervical carcinoma.Methods Four hundred and twenty-four cases of cervical carcinoma patients diagnosed by pathology and 400 binign gynaecology patients were selected to detect levels of SCC-Ag and CEA by ELISA.Besides,the pelvic color ultrasound results of cervical carcinoma patients were collected and analyzed.Results The positive rates of serum SCC-Ag,CEA and combined detection of cervical carcinoma patients were 55.9 ％(237/424),26.4 ％(112/424),61.8 ％(262/424),which were higher than those of binign gynaecology patients [12.0 ％(48/400),12.5 ％(50/400),14.5 ％(58/400)],and the differences were statistical significance (all P＜ 0.05).The sensitivity of combined detection of SCC-Ag and CEA for diagnosing cervical carcinoma (61.8 ％) was better than that of detection of alone SCC-Ag or CEA (55.9 ％,26.4 ％),and the difference was statistical significance (P ＜ 0.05).The differences of pretreatment serum SCC-Ag and CEA levels in the cervical carcinoma patients who were dependent on clinical stage,pathological type,depth of invasion,lymph node metastasis were statistically significant (all P ＜ 0.05).The combined detection of SCC-Ag and CEA in patients with stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ had higher positive rates [45.5 ％ (71/156),73.2 ％(139/190)] than those of the ultrasound examination [33.3 ％(52/156),51.1％(97/150)] (P＜ 0.05).After surgery or concurrent chemoradiotherapy or surgery combined radiation and chemotherapy,SCCAg levels of patients in post-treatment (median 0.34,0.51,0.33 ng/ml) were much lower than those of pretreatment (median 0.48,3.44,1.29 ng/ml),and CEA levels of post-treatment (median 0.75,0.81,0.71 ng/ml)were also lower than those of pre-treatment (median 1.22,1.53,1.50 ng/ml) (P ＜ 0.05).After treatment,cervical cancer patients with the raised or not decreased to the normal range levels of SCC-Ag and CEA had recurrences or metastasis rates of 33.3 ％(6/18),56.5 ％(13/23) and 46.1％(35/76).Survival rate of the patients with positive SCC-Ag was significantly lower than that of patients with negative (P ＜ 0.05),while the survival rate of patients with positive or negative CEA had no difference (P ＞ 0.05).Conclusions Combined detection of SCC-Ag and CEA can be used as an important indicator to estimate clinical stage,pathological type,depth of invasion,lymph node metastasis,curative effect and prognosis of cervical carcinoma.Combined detection of SCC-Ag and CEA had higher positive rates than pelvic color ultrasound examination for cervical carcinoma patients in stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ.

Asthenospermia accounts for about 30% of the causes of male infertility. Currently, most drugs for asthenospermia lack specificity and desirable therapeutic efficiency. An insight into the pathogenesis of asthenospermia is important for the development of specific therapies for this disease. The protein Na+/K(+)- ATPase α4 isoform (NKA4) presents in both mature testis tissue and the sperm tail, the absence or reduced activity of which may significantly decrease sperm motility. Ouabain is a natural inhibitor of NKA4, suppressing its activity by specifically binding the ouabain site in it. The hypothalamus and adrenal cortex excrete an ouabain-like steroid hormone called endogenous ouabain (EO), which may be associated with the pathogenesis of asthenospermia by inhibiting the activity of NKA4, affecting Na+/H+ exchange, Na+/Ca2+ exchange and sperm cell membrane potential, and eventually reducing sperm motility.

Objective To investigate the effects of hydroxyethyl starch(HES 130/0.4)on leukocyte activation,mast cell degranulation and vascular permeability in rat mesentery during the early phase of endotoxemia.Methods Thirty-six male Wistar rats weishing 200-250 g were randomly divided into 3 groups(n=12 each):Ⅰ normal control group received only normal saline(NS);Ⅱ LPS group and Ⅲ HES group received LPS 2 mg/kg iv followed by iv HES infusion at 16 ml·kg-1·h-1 for 60 min(HES group)or equal volume of NS(LPS group).The animals were anesthetized with intramuscular 20% urethane 1 ml/100 g.The abdomen was opened and the mesentery of small intestine was pulled out and placed on transparent observation plate at constant temperature and moisture and examined under microscope for microcirculatory changes.Leukocytes rolling along,adhering to and emigrating from mesenteric venules,mast cell degranulation and FTTC-albumin effux from venules were examined before(baseline)and during the 90 min after LPS administration.The expression of CD11b and CD18 on the leukocytes was determined using flow cylometry.Results The number of leukocytes rolling along,adhering to and emigrating from venules and degranulated mast cells were signitlcanfly increased in LPS group as compared with control group.These LPS-induced changes were significantly inhibited in HES group.The albumin effiux Was enhanced and CD11b/CD18 expression upregulated in both LPS and HES groups.Conclusion Hydroxyethyl starch(130/0.4)can ameliorate the increased vascular permeability and microcirculatory disturbance in rat mesentery during the early phase of endotoxemia.

Purpose To analyze the relevance between magnetic susceptibility weighted imaging intratumoral susceptibility signal intensity (ITSS) and diffusion weighted imaging apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) with different grade gliomas, and to explore the value of ITSS and ADC in the preoperative grading of gliomas. Materials and Methods Fifty-two cases of glioma patients underwent magnetic susceptibility weighted imaging and diffusion weighted imaging scans, all subjects were divided into low-grade glioma group (18 cases) and high-grade glioma group (34 cases) according to brain tumor grading standard, correlation between ITSS grade and ADC values with tumor grade was analyzed, and ROC curve was used to evaluate the diagnostic efficacy of ITSS and ADC values in the grading of brain glioma. Results Difference of ITSS grading was statistically significant (χ2=27.458, P<0.01) among different grade gliomas;difference of ADC values between different grade gliomas was also statistically significant (U=689.000, P<0.01); there was a significant positive correlation (r=0.727, P<0.001) between ITSS grading and pathological grading, ADC values were significantly negatively correlated (r=-0.622, P<0.001) with tumor grading, and ITSS grading was significantly negatively correlated (r=-0.617, P<0.001) with ADC values among different grade brain gliomas. With pathological grading as reference standard, the diagnostic sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive predictive value and negative predictive value of ITSS for preoperative glioma grading was 85.29%, 77.78%, 82.69%, 87.88%and 73.68%, respectively, while the diagnostic sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive predictive value and negative predictive value of ADC values for preoperative glioma grading was 97.06%, 88.89%, 94.23%, 94.29%and 94.12%, respectively. Conclusion There is a significant correlation between ITSS grading, ADC values and pathological grading of gliomas, the combination use of ITSS and ADC values can significantly improve the preoperative grading accuracy of brain glioma.

Objective To investigate the G2 cell cycle arrest and apoptosis induced by HIV-1 Vpr gene on Hela,Lovo and HepG2 cancer cells.Methods Recombinant vector pcDNA4-Vpr was constructed by DNA recombination technology and was then transfected into Hela,Lovo and HepG2 cells.Meanwhile,pcDNA4-EGFP plasmid group,FUGENE group and blank group were also set up as control.Ratio of cytostasis was evaluated by MTS assay 24 h,48 h and 72 h later,cell cycle arrest examined by flow cytometry and apoptosis detected by staining with ANNEXIN V and PI double dyes.Results Compared to the control group,the value of inhibition ratio,G2 arrest and apoptosis of Hela,Lovo and HepG2 cells increased obviously 24 h,48 h and 72 h after the transfection ( P ＜ 0.05 ).72 h after the transfection,the inhibition ratio of Hela,Lovo and HepG2 was 29.67％,27.35％ and 31.67％ respectively.Percentage of G2 phase cells was 24.9％,18.8％and 32.1％ respectively.Apoptosis percentage of Hela,Lovo and HepG2 ceils was 15.46％,7.7％ and 41.5％ correspondingly.Conclusion HIV-1 Vpr gene can induce cell cycle G2 arrest and apoptosis of Hela,Lovo and HepG2 cell lines in vitro.

Pneumoconiosis is the most common occupational disease in China, which severely endangers people's health. Depending on the inhaled air pollutants, pneumoconiosis is classified as anthracosis, silicosis, asbestosis, etc., among which silicosis is the most common and serious. Silicosis is a systemic, poor prognostic disease characterized by diffuse fibrosis of lung tissue, which is caused by long-term exposure to dust with high levels of free silicon dioxide (SiO₂) in the occupational environment. Appropriate treatment in time is important for the disease. Unfortunately, no effective drugs have been approved to delay or even reverse pulmonary fibrosis caused by SiO₂. This review briefly classifies potent therapeutic drugs and compounds in term of mechanisms, providing the probability for clinical treatment of silicosis.
