Objective To investigate the effects of iri doid on the spermatogenesis in mice of type-2 diabetes induced by nicotinamide and streptozotocin. Methods Fifty-six male C57BL mice were randomly divided into seven groups (n=8 for each group):control group, diabetic group, diabetic and glibenclamide (0.25 mg/kg) group, diabetic and iridoid (20 and 40 mg/kg) group, and iridoid (20 and 40 mg/kg) group. Diabetic model was induced by intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin (65 mg/kg) and nicotinamide (120 mg/kg). Glibenclamide and iridoid were orally fed for 28 days. Twenty-four hours after the last treatment, blood samples, testis and the epididymis were collected for detecting blood hormones, testicular biopsy, and the evaluation of sperm parameters. Results The body weights of diabetic mice were recovered from the reduction after treatment with 40 mg/kg of iridoid and glibenclamide(P<0.05). The sperm count and viability were significantly decreased in diabetic group compared with those of control group (P<0.05). The sperm count was significantly increased in diabetic and glibenclamide group than that of diabetic group (P<0.05). The serum levels of lutein hormone (LH), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and testosterone (T) were significantly decreased in diabetic group compared with those of control group (P<0.05). The serum levels of LH, FSH and T were increased after treatment with 40 mg/kg of iridoid and glibenclamide (P<0.05). Conclusion These results suggest that iridoid can reduce the level of oxidative damage in
diabetic mice, and effectively improve the fertility of mice.

Cleft lip and palate (CLP) is one of common congenital malformations. The evaluation of upper airway morphology using two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) imaging data for CLP patients has important clinical significance. Studies have adopted various measurement methods,in which different anatomical landmarks and reference planes are used in 2D cephalometric measurement. Shooting positioning for cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), measurement software, reference plane, landmark selection, and measurement method in 3D studiesare also different. Currently,comparison is unable to be performed across different studies due to various measurement methods and measurement standards. This article reviews studies on upper airway morphology measurement in CLP patients.

Objective To study the the effectiveness of Entecavir on serum transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) in patients with decompensated cirrhosis .Methods Eighty patients with decompensated cirrhosis were randomly divided into two groups ,the control group(n=40 cases) and the observation group (n=40 cases).The pa-tients in the control group were treated through the conventional treatmeat ,while the patients in the observation group were treated through the conventional treatment plus entecavir .They were treated for 24 weeks.Liver function,HBV DNA and serum TGF-β1 were detected.Results ALT,Tbil and ALB were improved after treatment in both groups (t=6.724,13.306,3.064,4.172,2.924,3.172,all P<0.05).They were more significantly improved in the obser-vation group than that in the control group (t=2.469,2.160,3.064,all P<0.05).HBV-DNA negative rate in the observation group was higher these in the control group (χ2 =4.82,P<0.05).Serum TGF-β1 in both groups were decreased after treatment(t=6.842,8.062,all P<0.01).There was a significant difference between two groups (t=3.178,P<0.05).Conclusion Entecavir can decrease serum TGF-β1 in patients with decompensated cirrhosis .

As for pediatric patients,antibacterial drugs are the most common prescription drugs.These agents play a significant role in reducing the incidence and mortality of human infections.However,at the same time,some related adverse reactions appeared,such as the impact on intestinal microflora colonization.Intestinal microbial population has great importance in regulating body's metabolism.If early use of antibiotics in life,the composition of the intestinal microbiota will be destroyed,and resulting in obesity.Animal experiments showed that low-dose antibiotics may promote an increase in body weight,and the use of antimicrobial drugs in the early life was more effective than that in late stage.Currently,available human epidemiological investigation indicated that antibacterial drugs had a similar effect in human.Gut flora in early life is essential for the later metabolism of body,but it is susceptible to interference.Using probiotics after the application of antimicrobial drug may be beneficial to improve the balance of intestinal microflora.This may be a new direction to prevent obesity after the early use of antimicrobial drugs.Now,the domestic and foreign reports were combined to elaborate the antibacterial drug metabolism in animals,the influence of body quality on the quality of the human body and the corresponding measures after application of antimicrobial agents.

Objective To explore the correlation between nurses' work alienation and silence behavior.Methods 603 registered nurses were recruited from a tertiary hospital in Guangzhou.They were investigated with Alienation Scale and Work Silence Behavior Scale.Results The scores of work alienation and silence behavior were (34.35±6.53) points and (37.66±6.46) points respectively,and both of them were at the medial level.Work alienation was positively related to silence behavior (r=0.603).All dimensions of work alienation were positively related to all dimensions of silence behavior (P ＜ 0.01).The predictors of silence behavior were age,nursing working years,job title,department,frustration,helplessness and meaningless,explained 42.2％ of its variance.Conclusions Work alienation has positive effect to silence behavior.The administrators in hospitals should focus on nurse,work alienation and silence behavior,and reduce silence behavior by reducing work alienation.

Objective To investigate the relationship of serum uric acid level with carotid atherosclerosis and intracranial stenosis in patients with cerebral ischemic stroke.Methods 186 patients checked by Color Doppler Flow Imaging (CDFI) and Transcranial Doppler (TCD) were enrolled.According to the degree of carotid intima-media thickness (IMT), patients were divided into normal group, and intima thicken group, the plaque shaping group and the vascular stenosis group.According to the degree of intracranial stenosis, patients were divided into stenosis group and nonstenosis group.The serum levels of uric acid (UA), triglycerides (TG), total cholesterol (TC), highdensity lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) were detected.The relative factors for carotid atherosclerosis and intracranial stenosis were analyzed by multiple logistic regression analysis.Results Compared with normal group and intima thicken group, the percentage of patients with hypertension, coronary heart disease and serum TC level were increased in plaque shaping group and vascular stenosis group (P＜0.05 for all).With the increase of carotid IMT, serum UA level was also gradually increased (F=11.386, P =0.000).Logistic regression analysis showed that serum UA level was the independent risk factor for carotid atherosclerosis (OR=3.486, P=0.013).Among 186 patients, 43 cases (23.1％) had intracranial vascular stenosis.The UA level was higher in stenosis group than in non stenosis group (t=9.372, P=0.013).Logistic regression analysis showed that serum UA level were the independent risk factors for intracranial arterial stenosis (OR =1.914, P=0.022).Conclusions The occurrence of carotid atherosclerosis and intracranial stenosis are closely related with hyperuricemia in patients with cerebral ischemic stroke, which indicates serum uric acid level may reflect the degree of carotid artery atherosclerosis.

Recently ,metabolic surgery has received much concern for its notable and everlasting effectiveness on glucose control ,weight loss and other metabolic disorders and concomitant diseases. Previous clinical practice and guidelines mostly focused on surgical indications ,especially BM I cut‐off point. In recent years ,BMI cut‐off point in guidelines has shown a downtrend and BMI cut‐off value has tended to become obscure ,which harvested from that clinical staff have realized the importance of comprehensive control for long‐term multiple metabolism and risk factors and overall benefit of the patients through increased clinical evidences and no longer limited to the improvement of obesity and diabetes itself.

OBJECTIVE:To provide references for the management and use of the donated drugs for earthquake resistance and disaster relief.METHODS:The problems appeared in the management and use of the donated drugs after the earthquake occurred on May 12,2008 in Sichuan province of China were summarized analytically and the corresponding suggestions were put forward.RESULTS & CONCLUSION:Some problems such as the turnover of the drugs,the expiration date,drug dispensing and allocation etc appeared in the management and use of the donated drugs,which should be standardized by setting related laws and regulations to make more greater use of the limited drug resource in the disaster relieving.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the characteristics and regularity of ADR cases caused by leflunomide, and to provide reference for rational use of it. METHODS: Literatures about leflunomide-inducing ADR were retrieved from CNKI between 1994 and Apr. 2010. Those literatures were statistically analyzed in respect of patient’s age and gender, route of administration, dosage of drugs, onset time of ADR, organs and systems involved in ADR and its clinical manifestations, treatment and outcomes, etc. RESULTS: 37 pieces of literatures were obtained with standard cases of 45. The incidence of ADR cases in female(75.56%) was higher than in males (24.44%). 28 ADR cases were in 50～60 group. 39 patients were treated with leflunomide 10～30 mg once a day. After treatment, the most common gastrointestinal adverse events occurred in 1～15 d. Leflunomide-inducing ADR was digestive system reaction (75.56%) the most. Patients who took medicine less than 10 days with mild ADR need not to stop taking medicine when clinical symptoms reduced or disappeared after symptomatic treatment. Patients who took medicine more than 10 days with severe ADR need to stop taking medicine and receive symptomatic treatment. CONCLUSION: Clinical physicians should pay attention to rational use of leflunomide and ADR during treatment course to reduce the harm due to adverse events.
