1.Kidney donor exchange - an efficacious solution to the lack of transplant organs
Journal of Medical and Pharmaceutical Information 2004;10():5-7
Currently world wide, the majority of kidney transplantations is realized with living donor, not using cadaver. In the past, in majority of cases, the donor and the recipient are familiar relatives, assuring immune compatibility. But at present basing on the new advances in antirejection measures, this technique can be applied in any pairs without blood relations. The detection of these pairs is very difficult but could be realized completely. The cases of exchange between uncomfortable pairs could give satisfied results

In patients who have defects on cranial bone, it is well known that reconstruction with autogenous bony material is the method of choice. However, it has limitations.; manipulation difficulty, donor site morbidity. Recently, many available synthetic materials has been developed, and their use became more common. The original cranial bone has three layers. ; outer table, medulla, inner table. Based on this finding, we performed cranioplasty in bony defect patients by composite use of Bone wax(R), Bone chip(R), Medpor(R). With this method, we could reproduce more reliable bony contour which mimic original cranial bony three layers.

6.Improving the technique of two time closed centrifugal decantation of blood plasma
Journal of Practical Medicine 2002;435(11):36-37
An improved method was described including cosecutively the collection of blood from the donor by two times, the decantation of blood plasma by high speed cryocentrifuge, the isolation of plasma and its immediate cryoprecipitation, then the perfusion of the rest of blood back to the donor circulation. The process takes only 60 minutes with an absolute safety and comfort. 20 regular blood donors at the Blood Transfusion Department of National Institute of Pediatrics had took the advantage of this technique.

7.The change of cytological components of platelet mass prepared and stored in different conditions
Journal of Medical and Pharmaceutical Information 1999;(12):30-34
Background: Random donor platelet concentrations (PCs) can be prepared by 2 methods: from platelet rich plasma (PRP) and from buffy coat (BC). In this study, the changes of cytological properties of the PCs prepared and stored at the different conditions were evaluated. Method: 45 samples of whole blood were divided into 3 groups: PCs-PRP stored at 22oC with shaking (n=15), PCs-BC stored at 22oC with shaking and PCs-PRP stored at 4oC without shaking. The assessment of platelet, red cell, white cell counts and hypotonic shock responses (HCR) were performed. Result: the yield of platelet separation of PRP method is higher and the leukocyte contamination is lower than those of BC method are. During storage, the platelet loss is highest in PCs-PRP stored at 4oC in comparison with PCs stored at 22oC. The HSR of PCs-PRP stored at 22oC reached the best results at 1st day and was stable up to 5th day. Conclusion: The PCs-PRP stored at 22oC showed the advantages in platelet yield, the leukocyte contamination and, also, the HSR

10.A Study on the Relationship between the Awareness of Blood Program and the Blood Donation Experience.
Korean Journal of Blood Transfusion 1996;7(2):153-161
In this study, the relationship between the awareness of blood program and the blood donation experience has been studied to know whether they corelate or not. The awareness of blood program was divided into 4 areas of knowledge and measured: the eligibilityt of blood donation, knowledge about blood, blood donation program, and general facts about blood donation. The experience of blood donation was divided into 3 groups: the registered donor, the non-registered donor, and the nondonor. The result in this study shows that the awareness of blood program is related with 3 factors, such as the eligibility of blood donation, blood donation program, and general facts about blnation. The difference in this case is significant at 0.05 level. However the knowledge about the blood is not corelated with blood donation experience, but only with sex(P<0.05). These results suggest that stable blood supply should be realized by securing new donors and by estsablishing of fdonor registration system. This is realized by the stir up the level of awareness and interest of blood program through strengthening public relations.
