Many factors can result in X ray film overthick and overthin in medical X-ray radiation. In order to ensure the correctness of diagnosis and the focus can be presented at the proper time,it is very im- portant for the overthick and overthin film to be processed and corrected. It has been proved through the test that the satisfied result can be reached through the proper regulating measure such as making a copy of a film.

Objective To study the changes and significance of Bid gene expression in hypoxic-ischemic brain damage (HIBD) in neonatal rats. Methods The animal models of HIBD were made. Total RNA from ipsilateral cerebral hemisph ere was extracted.RT-PCR was used to evaluate the levels of Bid gene expression at different time points after hypoxic-ischemic. Results The levels of Bid mRNA were higher in HIBD rats than those in normal rats. The ex pression of Bid mRNA in ipsilateral hemiphere following cerebral hypoxic-ischem ic began to increase at 6 h, increased to the highest level at 24 h, and then gr adually returned. Conclusion The upregulation of Bid mRNA can play a role in the induction of apoptosis fol lowing cerebral hypoxic-ischemic. Objective Carotid body tumor is closely related to carotid artery .How to deal with carotid artery is the guaranty of successful surgery .The aim of this study was to summary the experience of keeping carotid artery continuity in the treatment of 15 carotid body tumor cases . Methods Clinical data of 15 cases with 17 carotid body tumors , in which 2 patients had bilateral tumors , were collected. The 17 carotid body tumors were classified as Shamblin I (6 cases),Ⅱ(6 cases) andⅢ(5 cases).Fifteen tumors were dissected simplely.Among these 15 tumors, three of Shamblin Ⅱand two of Shamblin Ⅲunderwent repair of the break of carotid artery. The rest two of Shamblin Ⅲunderwent tumor and external carotid artery excision and internal carotid artery repairment .Matas pressing test of carotid artery or carotid artery balloon occlusion test was not performed in any patient . Results All 17 tumors were successfully excised .None of the 17 tumors underwent anastomosis or reconstruction of internal carotid artery or arteria carotis com -mun.The continuity of carotid artery or internal carotid artery was kept in all the patients after tumor excision .Hoarseness and bucking induced by the injury of vagus nerve occurred in 13 cases, and bucking recovery in all the cases after 2 years follow up, and only one case remained mild hoarseness .Hypoglossal nerve injury occurred in 4 cases with tongue deviation , and the symptom recovery after 6 months follow up.No one had recurrent by the follow-up period ranging from 1 to 9 years. Conclusion Most carotid body tumors could be completely resected by tumor dissection method with the accurate treatment , thereby the continuity of carotid artery could be kept. The Matas pressing test of carotid artery or carotid artery balloon occlusion test is not necessarily to every patient .

ObjectiveTo investigate the value of MRI in the diagnosis of cavernous transformation of the portal vein (CTPV).MethodsPlain MRI,dynamic enhanced and (or) dynamic contrast enhanced magnetic resonance angiography(DCE-MRA) findings in 30 patients of clinical-proved CTPV were retrospectively analyzed.ResultsAmong 30 CTPV patients on plain MRI,obliteration of main and (or) branched portal vein were found, and mass-like or reticular abnormal soft-tissue signals were around the vein, which were produced by collateral vessels. On dynamic enhanced MRI,abnormal hepatic perfusion during arterial phase and abnormal enhanced collateral veins during portal phase could be seen. The above signs became more obvious on DCE-MRA.ConclusionsMRI and DCE-MRA can clearly visualize the anatomical features of CTPV.It is important and can provide the reliable evidence for planning properly therapeutic protocol to recognize and directly evaluate the CTPV.

"Tinglizi", the ripe seed of Descurainia sophia and Lepidium apetalum, is a member of Brassicaceae (Cruciferae). Traditionally, the former is called "Nantinglizi" (Descurainiae Semen) while the latter is called "Beitinglizi" (Lepidii Semen). In the theory of traditional Chinese medicine, it has the power to purge lung-fire, relieve dyspnea, promote diuresis and reduce edema, and it is mainly indicated in a case with phlegm-fluid accumulation, cough with excessive sputum, dyspnea with being unable to lie, and general swelling. In view of its wide-spread application in clinic, a comprehensive review of Lepidii Semen and Descurainiae Semen was conducted from the following aspects: herbalogical study, variety identification, historical evolution of processing, chemical constituents, pharmacological effects, quantitative determination and toxicity which could provide reference for further research and development of "Tinglizi".

OBJECTIVETo discriminate Descurainiae Semen and Pantagirus Semen.
METHODA high-performance liquid chromatographic method was developed to establish the fingerprint of Descurainiae Semen, and hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA) and partial least squares discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) were applied to study HPLC fingerprinting and chemical recognition.
RESULTThere exists large difference of chromatographic peaks and its relative peak area of HPLC fingerprints between Descurainiae Semen and Pantagirus Semen, and after conducting statistical analysis, the result demonstrated that all samples were classified into three categories: Descurainiae Semen, Pantagirus Semen and their mixtures.
CONCLUSIONThe developed HPLC fingerprint combined with chemometrics can be utilized to discriminate between Descurainiae Semen and Pantagirus Semen, which was quick, simple, accurate and reliable an can provide the basis for the characterization and quality assess of Descurainiae Semen and Pantagirus Semen.

Objective Parotidectomy and superficial parotidectomy are traditional surgical treatment to the malignant parotid gland tumour although they have many defects. The aim of this study was to analyze the feasibility of individualized treatment to patient according to tumor`s size and TNM stage. Methods Thirty three patients with low grade malignant parotid gland tumours from Dec 2005 to Dec 2010 were recruited in the present study. All the patients received the territorial surgical resection firstly. Then, 9 cases re-ceived the expanded territorial surgical resection (1 case had recurrent probability, accepted adjuvant radiotherapy).Sixteen cases un-derwent parotidectomy with complete tumor resection ( 2 case had envelope invasion, accepted adjuvant radiotherapy) .Eight cases ac-cepted adjuvant radiotherapy(4 cases on T1 and T2 stage preserved facial nerve although the nerves adhering to tumors, and other 4 ca-ses on T4a stage accepted facial nerve excision ) . Results Follow up ranged from 3.5 to 8.5 years and no recurrences were docu-mented.9 patients who accepted territorial surgical resection showed fine facial symmetry.8 cases of them without adjuvant radiotherapy had good salivary secretion.Nine cases of other 24 patients showed temporary facial nerve injury and recovered within 1 to 4 months. Four cases with facial nerve excision showed permanental facial paralysis. Conclusion To protect the function of parotid gland to the greatest extent, the small low grade malignant parotid gland tumors without facial nerve invasion could have territorial surgical resection. Combined territorial surgical resection with postoperative adjuvant radiation therapy is useful to avoid the tumors recurrence and en-croachment of facial nerve to protect the facial nerve function.
