OBJECTIVETo investigate the effectiveness of anterior debridement,bone graft, and posterior pedicle screw-rod internal fixation in the treatment of lumbosacral tuberculosis.

METHODSFrom January 2005 to June 2012,18 patients with lumbosacral tuberculosis undergoing the surgical treatment by anterior debridement, bone graft, and posterior pedicle screw-rod internal fixation were reviewed retrospectively. There were 12 males and 6 females with an average age of 44 years old ranging from 35 to 67. Among them, 2 cases were simple low back pain,3 cases were low back pain combined with radiating pain of lower extremity and 13 cases were muscle strength hypesthesia. According to Fankle grading,the nerve function was grade C in 3 cases,grade D in 10 cases,grade E in 5 cases. Of these cases,L4.5 was involved in 8 cases,L5 in 4 cases and L5S1 in 6 cases. The lumbosacral angle was 150 to 270 and the erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) was 45 to 93 mm/h before treatment. The clinical indexes including the lumbosacral incidence, Frankel grade and ESR were reviewed at follow-up.

RESULTSAll 18 cases were followed up for 14 to 22 months. The mean operation time was 180 min. The amount of bleeding was 400 to 800 ml. Except 1 case with iliac vein injuried and 4 cases with abdominal distension,no spinal injuries and severe relative complication occurred, and neurologic function improved in various degrees. Pain in lumbosacral area and radicular pain in lower extremities disappeared. The X-ray and CT films demonstrated that bony fusion was obtained in all patients during 9 to 13 months postoperatively. The lumbosacral angle and ESR were improved significantly.

CONCLUSIONAnterior debridement, bone graft, and posterior pedicle screw-rod internal fixation is an effective method in dealing with lumbosacral spine tuberculosis.

Objective To investigate the relationship of serum levels of homocysteine, cystain C and uric acid with ca?rotid atherosclerosis in H-type hypertension patients. Methods A total of 132 H-type hypertension patients were collected to be studied. Their carotid intima-media thickness (IMT) was measured by Doppler ultrasonography. And according to the result of carotid artery atherosclerosis, all patients were divided into normal cIMT group (n=40),thickened cIMT group (n=43) and plague formation group (n=49). Their serum Hcy, Cyst-C, UA, blood glucose, blood lipid, blood urea nitrogen and se?rum creatinine were compared among three group and their relationship with cIMT were analyzed. Logistic regression was used to screen risk factors for carotid atherosclerosis. Results There was no significant difference in serum levels of blood glucose,blood urea nitrogen, creatinine, serum creatinine (Scr), triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), low density lipppro?tein cholesterol (LDL-c) among these three groups (P>0.05). The level of high-density lipoprotein (HDL-c) in thickened cIMT group was higher than that in plague formation group, and lower than normal cIMT group, while both serum levels of Cyst-c and UA were lower in thickened cIMT group than those in plague formation group but higher than those in normal cIMT group (P<0.05). In addition, serum level of Hcy in normal cIMT group was higher than that in thickened cIMT group and plague formation group. The cIMT grade was positively correlated with serum levels of Hcy, Cyst-C and UA (r=0.26, 0.30, 0.23, P<0.05), but was negative correlated with HDL-c(r=-0.38, P<0.05). Further more, Logistic regression analy?sis showed that Hcy,Cyst-C and UA were independent risk factors for cIMT. Conclusion Serum levels of Hcy, Cyst-C and UA are closely related to the cIMT,which indicates that they are independent risk factors of cIMT and may be used as mark?ers in judging the developments and preventions of arteriosclerosis.

BACKGROUND:The occurrence and severity of denture stomatitis are closely related to denture cleaning methods and wearing time. Therefore, it is of great significance to explore the effects of denture cleansers on denture surface roughness and color stability.OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effects of four different denture cleansers on the surface roughness and color stability of heat-curing denture base resins and elastic denture base materials by means of soaking test.METHODS: Samples of heat-curing denture base resins (n=25) and elastic denture base materials (n=25) were polished and soaked in NaClO, Efferdent, Polident partial, Polident overnight and water, respectively. The soak process was repeated 90 times. Then the color aberration and surface roughness were tested using color meter and roughmeter before soaking and after 30, 60, 90 times of soaking.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:These four kinds of denture cleansers have greater influence on the elastic denture base materials than on the heat-curing denture base resins. With the increasing of soaking time, the color aberration and surface roughness of the two kinds of denture materials were increased gradualy after treatment with different denture cleansers, and the values were ranked as follows: NaClO > Efferdent > Polident overnight > Polident partial and water. To conclude, denture cleansers can induce the changes in denture surface roughness and color stability of heat-curing denture base resins and elastic denture base materials. NaClO exerts the strongest effect, followed by Efferdent and Polident overnight, and Polident partial exhibits the weakest effect.

Objective To investigate the effects of PPAR-gamma expression on reperfusion arrhythmias in different precon ditioning myocardial ischemia/reperfusion(I/R) animal model.Methods Thirty-two SD rats were randomly divided into 4 groups(n =8):rosiglitazone+ I/R group (ROS group),GW9662 + I/R group(GW group),I/R group and sham group (Sham group).The I/ R animal model was constructed by ligation of the left anterior descending coronary artery,with ischemia for 30 min and reperfusion for 120 min.The dynamic limb Ⅱ lead electrocardiogram monitoring was performed;PPAR-gamma mRNA was detected by fluorescent quantitative PCR and the change of PPAR-gamma protein expression was detected by Western blot.Results The increasing range of QRS wave width detected before operation,at 30 min of ischemia,at 1,2 h of reperfusion from large to small were in turn the ROS group,I/R group,GW group and Sham group;the reperfusion arrhythmia score in the ROS group was significantly higher than that in the other groups(P＜0.05),while the GW group was relatively reduced.The expression level of PPAR-gamma mRNA in the ROS group detected by fluorescent quantitative PCR was significantly up-regulated(P＜0.05),while which in the GW group was down-regulated compared with the I/R group and ROS group(P＜0.05).The expression of PPAR-gamma protein was similar to that of PPAR-gamma mRNA.Conclusion Up-regulation of myocardial PPAR-gamma expression may increase the occurrence of reperfusion arrhythmias in myocardial I/R animal model.

Objective To investigate the effects of peroxisome proliferator activated receptor gamma (PPARγ) on malignant arrhythmia in myocardial of ischemia/reperfusion(I/R) rats. Methods Twenty-four SD rats were randomly divided into four groups:Sham group, I/R group, rosiglitazone (ROS) group and PPARγ inhibitor GW9662 (GW) group. The myocardial I/R injury was induced by ligation of the left anterior descending coronary artery, with ischemia for 30 min and reperfusion for 2 h. The whole process limb Ⅱ lead electrocardiogram was applied to observe the frequency of malignant arrhythmia and record the corrected changes of QT(QTc) interval. RT-PCR was used to detect the expression of PPARγ mRNA. Results There were 5 cases of malignant arrhythmia in ROS group, 2 in I/R and 1 in GW group, 0 was found in Sham group. There was a prolongation of the QTc interval in ROS group than the other groups after ischemic stage (P＜0.05). Compared with I/R group and ROS group, the QTc intervals were shorten in ischemia 30 min and reperfusion process in GW group (P＜0.05). Compared with sham group, the expression of PPARγ mRNA was significantly increased in other three groups (P＜0.05). The expression level of PPARγ mRNA was the highest in ROS group. The expression level of PPARγ mRNA was reduced in GW group compared with that of I/R group and ROS group (P＜0.05). Conclusion Over expression of PPARγ may lead to the occurrence of malignant arrhythmia in myocardial ischemia/reperfusion rats.

Objective To observe the combined poisonous effects of fluoride and aluminum on sex hormone of male rats.Methods Sixteen weaned SD healthy male rats aged two week were selected and divided into control group,aluminum group,fluoride group,fluorine-aluminum group,four rats in each group.All rats in the experimental groups were fed with corn collected from the prevailng areas containing different fluorine contents respectively for 90 days.Serum testosterone(T)and estradiol(E2)were detected.Results Compared separatelv with the control group[(3.317±0.635)μg/L],serum T level of fluorine-aluminum group[(15.994±6.558)μg/L]was higher(P＜0.05),but aluminum[(8.134±3.134)μg/L]and fluorine[(1.868±0.367)μg/L]groups had no significant differences(P＞0.05).Compared separately with the control group[(0.319±0.072)nmol/L],E2 level of the fluorine group[(0.172±0.030)nmol/L]being lower(P＜0.05),and it was not significant differences(P＞0.05)in the control group when compared with aluminum group[(0.282±0.012)nmol/L],and fluorine-aluminum group[(0.265±0.047)nmol/L].Fluorine and aluminum interacted with each other(F=9.82,P＜0.05).Conclusion The combined poisonous effects of fluorine and aluminum may influence sex hormone levels of male rats.

OBJECTIVETo observe the effects of electroacupuncture (EA) on circadian rhythm of temperature and melatonin (MT) in depression rats model induced by chronic stress, so as to explore the biological mechanism of EA for depression.

METHODSTwenty-four SD rats were randomly divided into a control group, a model group and an EA group, 8 cases in each one. Rats in the control group were treated with normal diet for 21 days without any treatment. In the model and EA group, rat model was established by chronic unpredictable stress combined with solitarily feeding method, and rats in the EA group was treated with EA at "Baihui" (GV 20), "Yintang" (GV 29) 1 h before stress stimulation everyday, 2 Hz in frequency and intensity was favorable with the head of rat slightly shivering. The needles were retained for 20 min, once a day for totally 21 days. After EA treatment, open-field experiment was adopted to observe the behavioral improvement; the rats temperatures were monitored at six time points (2:00, 6:00, 10:00, 14:00, 18:00, 22:00) and orbital blood sampling was collected. The level of serum MT was tested by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. The circadian rhythm changes of temperature and serum MT in each group were compared.

RESULTSThe numbers of horizontal movement and vertical movement in the model group were obviously lower than those in the control group (both P < 0.05), while those in the EA group were significantly improved compared with those in the model group (both P < 0.01). The circadian rhythm of temperature and MT disappeared in the model group, which was improved into normal level after EA treatment.

CONCLUSIONThe electroacupuncture has regulation effects on circadian rhythm of temperature and melatonin in depression rat model induced by chronic stress.

Fe3O4-grafted nitrogen-doped graphene (Fe3O4/N-G) nanomaterials were synthesized by chemical co-precipitation method, and its adsorption properties were discussed preliminarily.It was demonstrated that the adsorption of parachlormetaxylenol on Fe3O4/N-G was not limited to uniform monolayer adsorption and the adsorption kinetic followed the pseudo-second-order kinetic mode.Then, an ultrasound-assisted magnetic solid-phase extraction with Fe3O4/N-G as the magnetic adsorbent has been developed for the determination of four compounds including triclosan, chloroxylenol, hexachlorobenzene and 2,2′,4,4′,5,5′-hexachlorobiphenyl in environmental water samples, in combination with gas chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry.Several factors related to extraction efficiencies, such as the amount of adsorbent, extraction time, sample pH and desorption conditions were investigated.The proposed preparation procedure was as follows: 6.0 mg of Fe3O4/N-G was dispersed into 100 mL of water sample under ultrasound.After 15 s, the Fe3O4/N-G carrying four compounds was separated from the water sample by an external magnetic field.Then, the targets were eluted from Fe3O4/N-G with 3 mL of ethanol and 2 mL of dichloromethane, sequentially.Finally, the eluent was dried under a mild stream of nitrogen and reconstituted with methanol and dichloromethane (1∶1, V/V) for the subsequent GC-MS/MS analysis.Under the optimized condition, an excellent linearity was observed in the range of 0.1-10 ng/L for the four compounds, with the correlation coefficients ranging from 0.9983 to 0.9999.The limits of detections (S/N=3) ranged from 0.05 to 0.6 ng/L and the limits of quantity (S/N=10) ranged from 0.2 to 2.4 ng/L.The mean recoveries at three spiked levels ranged from 68.2% to 99.6%.The relative standard deviations (RSDs) of intraday and interday were in the range of 3.3%-6.9% and 3.4%-9.4% (n=6), respectively.The proposed method was demonstrated to be simple and feasible for the trace analysis of antimicrobial agents and organochlorine contaminants in environmental water samples.

Objective: To extract and analyze the characteristics and rules of acupoints selection of the treatment of overactive bladder (OAB) syndrome in acupuncture and moxibustion. Methods: The clinical literatures on acupuncture and moxibustion in treatment of OAB published in the last 10 years (2017.01.01-2018.05.18) were retrieved in Chinese and English electronical database, and the characteristics and rules of acupoints selection in treating OAB were analyzed and summarized. Results: According to the inclusive exclusion criteria, a total of 18 articles were included, and acupuncture and moxibustion were used to treat the disease through statistical analysis. (1) The selected acupoints in the first four places of frequency are as follows: CV3 (8.3％), BL32 (8.3％), CV4 (8.3％), SP6 (8.3％); (2) The higher frequency of meridian is followed by bladder meridian of foot-taiyang (37), conception vessel (34), spleenmeridian of foot-Taiyin (14), stomach meridian of foot-Yangming (8); (3) The site of acupoints selection is mostly concentrated in abdomen parts (34.9％) and lumbosacral parts (32.1％); (4) Specific acupoint is mainly made of Rendezvous points (30.0％) Raise points (22.2％) and Besu acupoint (12.0％); (5) Prescription consists of 8-10 acupuncture points (55.6％) . Conclusion:Acupuncture and moxibustion treatment of OAB is the method in which is mainly consisted of the CV3, BL32, CV4, SP6, in which is mainly a differentiation of meridian combined with viscera disease position, when selecting the prescription not only considering to adjust the function of zang-fu organs, but also aiming at critical pathological links. in which mainly take the main points according to distinguishing the disease and following the meridian, using the combination of local and distal points' extraction.

This study was aimed to observe the natural history and evolution of cervical spondylotic myelopa-thy , explore development law of the disease incidence in order to improve the understanding of cervical spondylotic myelopathy and provide a theoretical basis for Chinese medicine treatment . Complete clinical data of 80 cervical spondylotic myelopathy cases were collected from March 1998 to July 2007 in special and ex-pert practice of Prof . Shi's out-patient department . Chinese medicine for q i-blood regulation was given in the treatment . Related measuring scales were designed . More than two-month follow-up was given through means of returning visit, telephone calls and letter inquiries. Changes of clinical symptoms, and scores of different types of evaluations were observed . The SPSS software was used in the data analysis of results from measuring scales for the objective evaluation . The results showed that there were statistical differences on the 40-score and JOA total score between initial visiting and first time follow-up ( P < 0 . 05 ) . It suggested that through Chinese medicine qi-blood regulation treatment, the scores on spinal cord function were increased compared with the previous visiting . For patients who continued long-term Chinese medicine q i-blood regulation treat-ment, there were statistical differences on the 40-score and JOA total score between the first-time follow-up and second-time follow-up ( P < 0 . 05 ) . It suggested that through continued long-term Chinese medicine q i-blood regulation treatment , the scores on spinal cord function were increased compared with the previous visit-ing . In this group of patients , there were no statistical differences on the 40-score and JOA total score be-tween the patient's initial visiting , first time follow-up , and the first-time follow-up and second-time follow-up . The scores on spinal cord function suggested that there was no obvious difference on the relieving degree between the first-time follow-up and second-time follow-up . For patients who were unable to continue the Chinese medicine qi-blood regulation treatment, no matter if it was full score on the spinal cord function in the first-time follow-up , there were statistical differences on the 40-score and JOA total score between the first-time and second-time follow-up . It suggested that the disease became worse when patients were unable to continue the Chinese medicine qi-blood regulation treatment. It was concluded that Chinese medicine qi-blood regulation treatment for cervical spondylotic myelopathy has a significant effect in both short-term and long-term treatment with steady effectiveness. Patients who continue the Chinese medicine qi-blood regulation treatment not only can prevent disease recurrence , but also can promote further relieving of disease condition .
