Objective To observe enhancing effect of nerve regeneration on peripheral nerve defect models bridged by a new PRGD/PDLLA/VPA composite conduit. Methods In this study from February,2012 to March,2014,PRGD/PDLLA/VPA nerve conduits were tested in the rat sciatic nerve transection model. At different periods after operation, its ability to promote nerve regeneration was evaluated by sciatic functional index(SFI),electrophysiology (CMAPs,NCVs) and histologic assessment.Forty rats were randomly divided into 4 groups (n =10),group A:PRGD/PDLLA/VPA,group B:PDLLA/VPA,group C:PRGD/VPA and group D:autograft. Results At 12 weeks after surgery, the SFI value of group A (-45 ± 3.19)and group D (-42 ± 3.01)were significantly higher than those of group B(-79 ± 3.06) and group C(-72 ± 2.07)(P < 0.05);The CMAPs of group A (24.89 ± 5.01) and group D (25.39 ± 5.63) were significantly higher than those of group B(14.88 ± 3.11) and C(15.00 ± 5.54);the NCVs of group A (31.42 ± 2.43) and group D (31.50 ± 2.16) were significantly higher than those of group B (20.11 ± 2.39) and group C(21.00 ± 2.13)(P < 0.05).At 12 weeks after surgery, the numbers of regenerated nerve in the tube of group A (258 ± 6.18) and D(259 ± 5.59) were significantly higher than those of group B (231 ± 5.00) and group C(230 ± 5.07)(P < 0.05).There was no significant difference between groups A and D(P > 0.05).Conclusion These results illustrated that this new PRGD/PDLLA/VPA conduit could significantly facilitate the regeneration of short nerve defect and recovery of motor nerve, which provides a new thought for treatment of peripheral nerve injury.

Objective To observe enhancing effect of nerve regeneration on peripheral nerve defect models bridged by silicone tube idled with valproic acid (VPA). Methods In present research we demon-strate the effect of VPA on peripheral nerve regeneration and recovery of motor function following sciatic nerve transaction in rats. An 8-mm sciatic nerve deficit was created in a rat mode land bridged by a 1-cm silicone tube. Then, 10 lad of 8% VPA were perfused into the silicone chamber in the VPA group. The same volume of normal saline was delivered in the control group. Results Each animal was observed sciatic nerve function index (SFI) at 2-week intervals and studied electrophysiology at 4-week intervals for 12 weeks. Histological and morphometrical analyses were performed at the end of the experiment, 12 weeks after operation. Using the digital image-analysis system, thickness of the myelin sheath was measured, and total numbers of regenerated axons were counted. There was a significant difference in SFI, electrophysiological index (motor-nerve conduct velocity, MCV), and morphometrical results (regenerated axon number and thickness of myelin sheath) in nerve regeneration between the VPA group and controls (P < 0.05). Conclusion The results demonstrated that VPA is able to enhance sciatic nerve regeneration in rats, suggesting the potential clinical application of VPA for the treatment of peripheral nerve injury in humans.

?AIM: To evaluate the effects on recovering of corneal wound and postoperative discomfort of different methods for primary pterygium.?METHODS: Forty-seven cases ( 60 eyes ) of primary pterygium were excised under microscope with limbal epithelial transplantation, with sharp dissection ( 24 cases, 30 eyes, Group A) and blunt dissection (23 cases, 30 eyes, Group B).All cases were followed up for 1d to 1mo.?RESULTS: The recovering of corneal wound was better in Group B on 1st day and 3rd day after surgery.Pain, photophobia and tears, foreign body sensation were more serious in group A on 1st day after surgery with a statistically significant difference (P=0.005,0.015,0.012). Pain, photophobia and tears, foreign body sensation were more serious in Group A on 3rd day after surgery with a statistically significant difference ( P=0.019,0.018, 0.015).There was no statistically significant difference on 1wk and 1mo after surgery (P>0.05).? CONCLUSION: Compared with sharp dissection, primary pterygium excised with blunt dissection can significantly improve recovering of corneal wound and postoperative discomfort.

Malignant tumors are major diseases that endanger human health. Due to their complex and variable microenvironment, most anti-tumor drugs cannot precisely reach the focal tissue and be released in a controlled manner. Intelligent responsive nano carriers have become a hot spot in the field of anti-tumor drug delivery systems. As an excellent nano material, mesoporous silica has the advantages of non-toxic, stable, adjustable pore volume and pore diameter, and easy functional modification on the surface. By virtue of its perceptive response to the tumor microenvironment or physiological changes, it can achieve the targeted drug release or controlled drug release of the drug delivery system in the tissue, making it an ideal carrier for intelligent response drug delivery system. In this paper, we review the design strategies and current research status of smart responsive anti-tumor drug delivery systems based on mesoporous silica, in order to provide a reference for the development of anti-tumor drug nanoformulations.

Intervertebral disc degeneration is considered as a primary cause of clinical low back pain, however the molecular mechanism is not clear yet. Recently, researches on the molecular basis of intervertebral disc degeneration have become a hotspot. The special structure and biomechanics properties of the disc contribute to its propensity toward degeneration. Intervertebral disc degeneration is associated with the changes of the cytological behavior, including the increase in cell death and the degradation of extracellular matrix. However, the mechanism of cell death including cell apoptosis and autophagy in intervertebral disc degeneration remains unclear. Further study on the molecular mechanism of intervertebral disc degeneration is the foundation of improving and treating the intervertebral disc degeneration in the future. Although some progresses are made in the aspect of biological study, the biological environment of intervertebral disc itself is still a challenge for the development of biological treatment. This article is to review the latest advance on the biological characteristics of normal intervertebral disc and the cell death in the process of the intervertebral disc degeneration.

Objective To explore the efficacy of biomimetic physiotherapy in preventing adhesions and promote endometrial repair and growth after Transcervical resection of adhesions ( TCRA) . Methods A prospective case-control study method, from January 2016 to May 2017 in Hunan Maternal and Child Health Hospital underwent TCRA in 92 patients were randomly divided into study (45 cases) and control (47 cases) groups. The patients in the study group were treated with biomimetic therapy after TCRA, and were treated with artificial cycles. Three menstrual cycles were treated continuously. The control group was treated with hormone artificial cycle. The menstrual recovery, ovulation endometrium thickness, uterine ar-tery blood flow resistance index ( RI) and second-look hysteroscopy were observed and compared between two groups before and after 1 course of treatment. Results After 1 course of treatment, the efficiency of the study group was significantly better than that of the control group (P<0. 05), and the cure rate of the study group was significantly higher than that of the control group ( P<0. 05 ) . The endometrial thickness of the study group were increased significantly after ovulation (P<0. 05). The uterine artery blood flow resistance was decreased significantly after treatment in the study group (P<0. 05). Conclusions Bionic physiother-apy can improve pelvic circulation, promote endometrial growth, and prevent the formation of adhesions after TCRA to a certain extent.
