1.Advances of Hepatocyte Growth Factor in Cardiology(review)
Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2006;12(11):966-967
Hepatocyte growth factor(HGF) is a mesenchyme-derived pleiotropic factor which regulates cell growth, cell motility, and morphogenesis of various types of cells, and is thus considered a humoral mediator of epithelial-mesenchymal interactions responsible for angiogenesis, apoptosis and oxidative stress, etc. This article reviewed the relationships between HGF and cardiovascular diseases.

The concentration of 5 nucleosides, uracil, uridine, guanidine, adenine and adenosine in culture of Paecilomyces hepialid was determined by the developed method of HPLC. The HPLC method was performed on a Waters SunFire C18 (4.6 mm x 250 mm, 5 μm) column with methanol-water gradient elution as the mobile phase. The detection wavelength was 260 nm and the colunmn temperature was controlled at 30 °C. The linear range was 10.00-200.00 mg · L(-1) (r = 0.9994) for uracil, 10.10-202.00 mg · L(-1) (r = 0.9992) for uridine, 10.00-200.00 mg · L(-1) (r = 0.9991) for guanidine, 10.30-206.00 mg · L(-1) (r = 0.9992) for adenine and 10.45-209.00 mg · L(-1) (r = 0.9991) for adenosine, respectively. The RSD of precision was 0.032%, 0.035%, 0.039%, 0.049%, 0.00080%, respectively. The average recoveries of uracil, guanidine, adenine, and adenosine were 97.34%, 99.10%, 101.6%, 98.61% and 100.2% with RSD of 1.3%, 2.1%, 0.96%, 0.95%, and 1.3% respectively. The method showed high sensitivity, good selectivity, linearity and repeatability, which was suitable for the content analysis of 5 nucleosides components in P. hepialid and its extracts.

Objective To explore the effect of Renzhu Jianwei Granules(Granule of Semen Coicis and Rhizoma Atractylodis Macro- cephalae for strengthening the stomach)on the patients with precancerous lesions of gastric cancer(PLGC)and its mechanism. Methods The 58 patients of chronic atrophic gastritis(CAG)complicated with intestinal metaplasia(IM)and/or dysplasia(Dys) were randomized into treatment group and control group with 29 in each. The treatment group was administered Renzhu Jianwei Gran- ules while the control group was given Weifuchun Tablets. The numbers of positive cells of carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA)and cy- clooxygenase 2(COX-2)of gastric mueosa before and after treatment were observed. Results The scores of positive cells of CEA and COX-2 of gastric mucosa of both groups were greatly reduced after treatment(P0.05).Conclusion Renzhu Jianwei Granules can reduce CEA and COX-2 of PLGC patients, possibly being one of the mechanisms in treating PLGC.
5.Debates on Plasticity of Stem Ccells (review)
Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2006;12(12):1067-1069
Traditionally, stem cells in adult tissues were believed to be restricted in their differentiation potential and limited to generate the types of cell present in the tissue in which the stem cell resides. Recently, however, many studies indicate that stem cells may display a broader differentiation potential, termed plasticity or transdifferentiation, than what was previously thought. But the validity of this understanding has been challenged by some investigators. In this review, the authors present some standpoints on stem cell plasticity and discuss some phenomena of stem cell plasticity observed on animal models those have been generally accepted currently.
6.Oxygen reserve index, a new method of monitoring oxygenation status: what do we need to know?
Chinese Medical Journal 2020;133(2):229-234
The oxygen reserve index (ORI) is a new technology that provides real-time,non-invasive,and continuous monitoring of patients' oxygenation status. This review aimed to discuss its clinical utility, prospect and limitations.A systematic literature search of PubMed,MEDLINE,Google Scholar, and ScienceDirect was performed with the keywords of "oxygen reserve index," "ORI," "oxygenation," "pulse oximetry," "monitoring," and "hyperoxia." Original articles, reviews, case reports, and other relevant articles were reviewed. All articles on ORI were selected.ORI can provide an early warning before saturation begins to decrease and expands the ability to monitor the human body's oxygenation status noninvasively and continuously with the combination of pulse oximetry so as to avoid unnecessary hyperoxia or unanticipated hypoxia.Although the technology is so new that it is rarely known and has not been applied to routine practices in hospitals,it shows good prospects for critical care, oxygen therapy, and intraoperative monitoring.

Objective:To investigate the correlation between root and root canal diameter of maxillary central incisors and age by cone-beam computed tomography(CBCT).Methods:CBCT images of 420 cases of Chinese Han population were divided into 7 age groups as follows:1 5 -24,25 -34,35 -44,45 -54,55 -64,65 -74 and 75 -84(n =60).Root diameter and root canal diameter of maxillary central incisors at the 3 /4 level from the cemenal-enamel junction(CEJ)to root apical were measured.Linear-regression a-nalysis was used to analyze the correlation between root and root canal diameter of the teeth and age,T-test was used to examine the gender difference. Results:Mean root diameter(mm)of the teeth in males and females were 5.81 ±0.445 and 5.53 ±0.489(P <0.05),mean root canal diameter(mm)1 .20 ±0.396 and 0.96 ±0.236(P <0.05),mean of the ratio of root canal diameter and root diameter of the teeth 0.21 ±0.072 and 0.1 7 ±0.043(P <0.05)respectively.There were negative correlations between the ratio of root canal diameter and root diameter of the teeth with age (R2 =0.576,P <0.05).Conclusion:The ratio of root canal diameter and root diameter of maxillary central incisors is negitively correlated with age in Chinese Han population. The decrease of root canal diame-ter in males is more significant than that in females.

Chinese Journal of Virology 2015;31(3):293-298
Hepatitis E, caused by hepatitis E virus (HEV) infection, usually leads to an acute clinical course, and is the most common diagnosis among cases of acute viral hepatitis. From 2008, there have been increasing reports of chronic HEV infection in immunocompromised patients such as organ transplant recipients. Without intervention with antiviral treatment, approximately 60% of HEV infections in organ transplant recipients evolve into chronic HEV infections. Of these chronic hepatitis E patients, 10% may develop liver fibrosis and progress to liver cirrhosis. This article reviews chronic HEV infection and treatment in organ transplant recipients.
