Background The pathogenesis of pterygium has been in the study.Relative molecular biology study showed that pterygium is a tumor-like lesion, and based on overseas literatures, human papillomavirus (HPV) is positively expressed in 100% patients with pterygium in some region. However,if this result is suitable for Chinese patients is unclear. Objective This study was to identify the role of human HPV in the pathogenesis of pterygia in Wuxi area. Methods Forty-eight pterygium specimens including 7 recurrent pterygia and 41 primary pterygia were collected during the operation, and these patients were from Wuxi area. Two cervical carcinoma specimens and 2 conjunctiva specimens from normal donors were obtained as positive control and negative control respectively. The fluorescent quantitative polymerase chain reaction (FQ-PCR) was used to detect HPV DNA of specimens. Results The amplified curves of HPV 6,11 of pterygium specimens, cervical carcinoma specimens and normal specimens were all below the positive quality control curve, but the amplified curves of HPV16,18 were above the quality control curve in cervical carcinoma specimens; while those of pterygium specimens and normal conjunctival specimens were all below the quality control curve.HPV16/18 was identified in 2 cervical carcinoma specimens, but no HPV6/11 was detected in 2 cervical carcinoma specimens. However,HPV DNA expression in primary and recurrent pterygias were absent. Conclusions According to these results,HPV is not the primary cause for the pathogenesis of pterygium in Wuxi region.
3. Modeling of gene regulatory networks
Academic Journal of Second Military Medical University 2006;27(7):737-740
Gene regulatory networks (GRN), which focuses on the complex interactions of genes in life, is an important part in the study of the functional genomics and is the frontier of bioinformatics research. Application of gene-chip technique in bioinformatics provides a great number of basic data for the research of GRN. This paper reviews the origin and recent development of GRN, explicates the preconditions and rationales for construction of GRN, and analyzes several classic GRN models: Boolean networks, linear models, non-linear models and Bayesian networks. The rationales, basic algorithms, advantages, disadvantages and applicability of the models are reviewed based on the characteristics of gene-chip data.

Ophthalmology is a predominantly morphology of clinical discipline. The eye has the characteristics of small scale, close structure, complex and diverse diseases, different clinical manifestations and so on. As an effective tool, the mind map can promote thinking visualization, help learners establish the logic relation of things and cultivate their innovative ability. To achieve better teaching effect, we introduce the mind map into theory course teaching of ophthalmology. On the one hand, teachers can optimize the teaching design, clarify the teaching ideas, and on the other hand, students can draw the mind map on their own or with others which will improve their subjective initiative of learning and study efficiency, and at the same time cultivate their ability of mutual collaboration.

Relevant literatures on the relationship betw een fluorosis and oxidative stress were reviewed.Based on most of the original papers published in recent years,we can see the increased free radicals and oxidative stress may occur in certain stage of fluoride intoxication, but confirmation of the causality between oxidative stress and fluoride-induced damages still remains much work to do.

ObjectiveTo study the risk factors of childhood functional constipation.MethodsA cross-sectional analysis of risk factors associated with 182 cases of functional constipation in children was conducted from March 2013 to February 2014. ResultsThe male patients were more than females, mainly in preschool children. The risk factors were did not like fruits and vegetables (52.2%), drank less water (44.0%), did not develop the habit of daily bowel movement (39.5%), defecation fear (36.3%), inadequate food intake (25.8%). There were different risk factors in different age stages.ConclusionsFunctional constipation is related to gender, age, diet habits and mental psychology.

Objective To explore a brief regimen to treat and manage asthmatic patients. Methods 122 asthmatic patients(including 12 inpatients) treated and managed at respiratory clinic were followed up for 1~10 years. The data of these patients were collected and analysed Results On the base of asthma education patients were received inhaled glucocorticoid combined with ? 2 agonist and/or theophylline for two to five years Of 122 patients,20(16 4%) patients remised and remained good control without any medication,90(73 8%) patients relapsed within 1 to 2 years after drug withdrawal Conclusions Asthmatic patients must be treated and managed regularly according to GINA It was especially emphasized that inhaled glucocorticoid is the mainstay of ling term threapy Most patients can remise for quite a long time with agreeable quality of life while a few patients can be cured

Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis 2010;22(4):265-269
Objective To explore the multiple risk factors for family lifestyle of children with congenital heart defects (CHDs) in Shaanxi Province, China. children and their parents. The univariate and multivariable logistic regression models were used to analyze the influence of risk factors related to parents' lifestyle on CHDs. Results Several possible risk factors were found for CHDs, including fever (OR=4.465, P=0.017), pesticides contact (OR=2.234, P=0.083), passive smoking during pregnancy (OR=20.529, P=0.007) and father's smoking (OR=3.342, P=0.005); fever (OR=2.428, P=0.012) and passive smoking during pregnancy (OR=1.201, P=0.037) were also correlated with ventricular sepal defect (VSD). Conclusion Fever, pesticides contact and passive smoking are associated with CHDs during pregnancy. We should focus our attention on health care during pregnancy to avoid the above-mentioned risk factors and call on parents to hold on to a good healthy lifestyle.

Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of sinew-regulating bone-setting manipulations plus exercise therapy in treating chronic non-specific low back pain (CNLBP). Methods: A total of 65 CNLBP patients were divided into two groups by the random number table method. Thirty-three cases in the treatment group were intervened by sinew-regulating bone-setting manipulations plus exercise therapy; 32 cases in the control group were intervened by medium-frequency electrotherapy plus exercise therapy. Before and after treatment, visual analog scale (VAS), dynamic and static muscle endurance of low back, median frequency (MF) of surface electromyography (sEMG) and Oswestry disability index (ODI) were used to evaluate the low back function. The therapeutic efficacy was estimated after treatment. Results: The two groups each had 2 dropouts during the study. The total effective rate was 90.3% in the treatment group versus 66.7% in the control group, and the between-group difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). After treatment, the VAS score, dynamic and static muscle endurance of low back, MF of sEMG and ODI score all changed significantly in both groups (all P<0.05); all the items in the treatment group were significantly different from those in the control group (all P<0.05). Conclusion: Sinew-regulating bone-setting manipulations plus exercise therapy can effectively release pain in CNLBP patients, increase muscle endurance of the low back and improve the quality of life, and its therapeutic efficacy is more significant than that of medium-frequency electrotherapy plus exercise therapy.

With the deepening of research in recent years, tumor metabolic reprogramming has gradually become the focus of research, and targeting tumor cell metabolism has also become a new means of tumor therapy. The metabolic process affects almost all the physiological processes of the organism, and lipid metabolism is an important part of the metabolic process. Studies have shown that changes in lipid uptake, storage and fatty acid synthesis and decomposition have occurred in a variety of tumors. Abnormal lipid metabolism will promote the rapid proliferation of tumors. Abnormal expression of a variety of key metabolic enzymes in the process of lipid metabolism is the key to tumor progression. The purpose of this paper is to explain the metabolic regulation of lipid metabolism and related metabolic enzymes in hematological tumors, and to provide ideas for the treatment of hematological tumors.
