1. Expression of metastasis-associated molecules CD99, FKBP5, FLJ13576 in primary cell renal cell carcinoma
Academic Journal of Second Military Medical University 2010;30(4):360-363
Objective: To evaluate the expression of metastasis-associated molecules CD99, FKBP5 and FLJ13576 in primary clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). Methods: Semi-quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was used to examine the differential expression of CD99, FKBP5, and FLJ13576 in the primary ccRCC tissues and the corresponding adjacent normal renal tissues. Results: The positive rates of CD99, FKBP5, and FLJ13576 in the primary ccRCC tissues were 72%, 60% and 48%, respectively, which were significantly higher than those in the adjacent normal renal tissues(28%, 24%, and 16%, P<0.05). Conclusion: Cancer metastasis-associated molecules CD99, FKBP5 and FLJ13576 are highly expressed in the primary ccRCC tissues, which might be associated with the development and progression of renal cancer. CD99, FKBP5 and FLJ13576 may serve as potential markers for detection of ccRCC.

Reactive oxygen species (ROS) is defined as the electron reduction product of oxygen with high reactivity which can maintain normal physiological functions and redox homeostasis. The tumor microenvironment is in a state of oxidative stress. ROS can affect multiple processes of tumor immune response by modulating the phenotype and functions of tumor cells and immune cells. With the rapid development of immunology, ROS-based tumor immunomodulation has been widely concerned and studied. In this review, the mechanism of ROS participating in tumor immune response is elaborated. Meanwhile, the research process and application of ROS in tumor immunomodulation in recent years are reviewed and analyzed.

Objectives To explore the relationship between illness perceptions and health behavior in the subjects. Methods Revised illness perception questionnaire and health promoting lifestyle profileⅡ (HPLPⅡ) were used to measure 101 patients′illness perception and health behavior between the groups. Results The HPLPⅡscore of LEAD was(2.17 ± 0.29) with the score of dimension. The course of disease, prognosis and perception of emotion were negatively related to health behaviour; personal control and primaty congtion of drsease were postively related to health behaviour (all P<0.01). Conclusion Medical personnel should pay attention to the relationship between illness perceptions and health behavior in patients with LEAD and effective measures should be taken to improve the patients′illness perceptions, promote their choices and persistence in health behavior and improve the quality of life.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the clinical efficiency of selective cyclo-oxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor compared to traditional nonselective NSAIDs for the prevention of heterotopic ossification (HO) after total hip arthroplasty (THA).
METHODSBy searching Medline, Embase, CENTRAL (Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials) and Science Citation Index et al, only randomised controlled studies of selective COX-2 inhibitors VS nonselective COX-1 and COX-2 inhibitors for the prevention of HO after THA were included. The quality assessment of included studies was evaluated according to the standard of the Cochrane Collaboration, and the data were analysised by statistic software Stata 10.0. The HO incidence of both groups in different degrees was compared.
RESULTSFour eligible randomised controlled trials of totally 808 patients were included. Meta-analysis results showed that no statistically significant difference was found in overall incidence of HO (RR = 1.08, 95% CI: 0.71-1.64,P = 0.73), incidence of moderate severe HO (Brooker II and III) (RR = 0.83, 95% CI: 0.48-1.42, P = 0.49) and any grade of Brooker classification between two groups. In all included studies, 16 patients receiving nonselective COX inhibitor (4.4%) discontinued treatment because of gastrointestinal toxicity, whereas 10 patients in the selective COX-2 inhibitor group (2.7%) discontinued for gastrointestinal side effects.
CONCLUSIONThe selective COX-2 inhibitors are as equally effective as nonselective NSAIDs for the prevention of HO after THA. Considering the side effects of nonselective NSAIDs, selective COX-2 inhibitors were recommend for the prevention of HO after THA.

Objective To investigate the effect of continous quality improvement (CQI) on dialysis adequacy and cardiovascular events in peritoneal dialysis patients. Methods This study was a prospective controlled study, and 98 patients with stable peritoneal dialysis in our hospital were recruited in the study.Plan,do,check, action (PDCA) was applied for improvement of peritoneal dialysis and working steps.Changes in the dialysis adequacy, nutrition, inflammation and cardiovascular events after CQI were compared. Results After CQI,standardization-reaching rate of weekly total urea clearance index(Kt/V) was increased (P < 0.05),Kt/V level was increased (P < 0.05),serum albumin (ALB) and prealbumin (PAB) were significantly elevated (P < 0.05).The standardized rate of total nitrogen was significantly improved (P < 0.05);The incidence of peritonitis was reduced (P < 0.05),and hospitalization rate due to cardiovascular events decreased (P < 0.05).Conclusion CQI can improve nutrition, inflammation and dialysis adequacy for peritoneal dialysis elderly patients, thereby reducing the incidence of cardiovascular events.

Response surface methodology was applied to optimize the fermentation conditions of FGFC1 (Fungi fibrinolytic compound 1). On the basis of single factor tests, response surface analysis was designed by Design-Expert, and the effects of culture time, ornithine hydrochloride addition and culture temperature on the yield of FGFC1 were studied, the predicted value and measured value were also contrasted. The results show the optimal culture conditions as follows: the culture time is 7 d, ornithine hydrochloride addition is 0.5% (M/V), culture temperature is 28 degrees C. Under these conditions, the yield of FGFC1 is 1 978.33 mg/L, which is consistent with the predicted value. It shows that the experiment is effective.

Objective:To observe the effects of acupuncture on the characteristics of neuro-electrophysiological activity in hippocampal CA1 and CA3 areas of rats with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).Methods:Fifty Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were randomly divided into a blank group,a model group,a grasping group,a Western medicine group and an acupuncture group, with 10 rats in each group.Except for the blank group, rats in the other 4 groups all received the combined stress modeling method.Rats in the Western medicine group were intragastrically administrated with paroxetine hydrochloride, those in the acupuncture group received acupuncture intervention, those in the grasping group received grasping fixation, and those in the model group and the blank group did not receive any interventions. After 14 d of intervention, the interspike interval (ISI) and power spectral densities (PSD) were analyzed and mapped by in vivo multiple channels to record the neuron clusters discharge in the hippocampal CA1 and CA3 areas. Results:Compared with the blank group,ISI was prolonged in the CA1 and CA3 areas of the model group and the grasping group, and the concentrated PSD distribution area moved down (P<0.05 or P<0.01).Compared with the grasping group, the ISI of the CA1 and CA3 areas in the Western medicine group and the acupuncture group was shortened, and the concentrated PSD distribution area moved up (P<0.05 or P<0.01).The ISI and PSD distributions in the CA1 and CA3 areas of the acupuncture group were not statistically different from those in the Western medicine group (both P>0.05).Conclusion:Both acupuncture and paroxetine hydrochloride can significantly regulate the neuro-electrophysiology activity of hippocampal CA1 and CA3 areas in PTSD rats, which may be one of the mechanisms of acupuncture intervention to promote PTSD recovery.
