Parenteral & Enteral Nutrition 1997;0(01):-
Objectives:In order to study the immune function after postoperative parenteral nutrition enriched with arginine in patients with gastrointestinal carcinoma. Methods:Forty patients who underwent radical operation of gastrointestinal carcinoma were randomly divided into experimental group( n= 20),in which patients received TPN enriched with arginine, and control group (TPN, n =20).At day 1 before operation, day 1 and day 8 after operation,IgG,IgA,IgM,T cell subgroups.NK cell activity and IL 2 were dectected. Results:The immune function of patients with gastrointestinal carcinoma was depressed at different levels. At day 1 after operation,IgG,IgM,IgA,CD4 +,CD4 +/CD8 +,Nk cell activity and IL 2 decreased more significantly than those before operation. The immunefunction recovered rapidly and exceeded the level before preoperation in experimental group. The difference was significant( P

Cancer Research and Clinic 2008;20(4):254-255
Objective To explore the effect of lymph node metastases in gastric cancer on vagniae vasorum of gastric vessels,in order to provide evidence for the surgical treatment of gastric cancer. Methods The study included 90 specimens of left and right gastric arteries from 47 patients who underwent radical gastrectomy for carcinoma from January 2004 to 2006.All specimens were dealt with frozen section method, then they were stained with HE and immunohistochemical method respectively. Results Metastatic cancer cells were not found inside vagina vasorum in stage Ⅰ specimens.Cytokeratiu positive of tumor cens in or on vagina vasorum was showed on 25 slices from 10 tumors.Among them,2 slices from 1 tumor belonged to stage Ⅱ.8 slices from 3 tumors belonged to stage Ⅲ and 15 slices from 6 tumors belonged to stage Ⅳ.There was significant differences among cytokeratin positive rate in different stages of gastric cancer(P<0.01).Conclusion Vaginae vasorum dissection is recommended when clearing lymph node around arteries in radical gastrectomy for carcinomas in stage Ⅱ above.

Human T-cell leukemia virus type 1 (HTLV-1) is a retrovirus demonstrated to be associated with human disease. Infection by the HTLV-1 can cause T-cell leukemia (ATL) in adults. HTLV-1 bZIP factor (HBZ) is a viral protein encoded by the minus strand of the HTLV-1 provirus. Among the regulatory and accessory genes of HTLV-1, HBZ is the only gene that remains intact and which is expressed consistently in all patients with ATL. Moreover, HBZ has a critical role in the leukemogenesis of ATL. Here, we review the function of HBZ in the oncogenesis of HTLV-1 and its molecular mechanism of action.

Objective To study the separation and purification technology of iridoid glycosides and xanthones from Swertia mussotii by macroporous resin. Methods The dynamic adsorption and desorption characteristics of macroporous adsorption resins HPD-300,HPD-400,HPD-600,AB-8,DM-301,and D-101-Ⅰ for swertiamarin and swertianolin were investigated. On the base of the investigation, the better macroporous adsorption resin was chosen to finish the experiments. Results The adsorption and elution characteristics of HPD-300 used to separate and purify iridoid glycosides and xanthones were very good.In the course of adsorption, the amount of used adsorption is 0.9 g dried medicinal herb/mL resin, with about 8 pH value of adsorption solution, and the volumetric rate is 2 BV/h; In the course of elution, the resin column chromatography was eluted gradiently with 7 BV 20% and 5 BV 70% EtOH after removing impurities with water. The elution rates were both more than 90%,and the contents of iridoid glycosides and xanthones were both up to 50% in the two dried fractions of 20% and 70% ethanolic elutions. Conclusion HPD-300 is an ideal resin with the best enrichment for separating and purifying both iridoid glucosioles and xanthanoes simultanously.

Objective: To investigate the inhibitory effect of survivin antisense oligonucleotide (ASODN) on the expression of survivin gene and proliferation of human hepatocellular carcinoma cell line SMMC-7721. Methods: The 20 mer antisense oligonucleotide (ASODN) targeted to the promoter region of survivin mRNA was designed and synthesized. The expression of survivin gene in hepatocellular carcinoma cell line SMMC-7721 was blocked by means of ASODN transfection mediated by DOTAP liposomal reagent. The changes of survivin protein and mRNA expression after transfection were as-sessd by Western blot and in situ hybridization, respectively. The apoptotic rate was detected by flow cytometer. The changes of cell adherent rate, cell growth activity, and the inhibitory rate of cell growth were also studied. Results: The expression of survivin protein and mRNA were decreased markedly after survivin ASODN transfection. Meanwhile, the cell adherent rate also decreased markedly while the apoptotic rate increased markedly. Conclusions: Transfection of ASODN targeted to the promotor region of survivin mRNA by DOTAP liposomal transfection reagent could down-regulated the expression of survivin protein and mRNA significantly in 7721 cell line and inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells. Survivin could be an important target in the therapy of hepatocellular carcinoma.

ObjectiveTo investigate the effects and indication of intermittent catheterization(IC) by relative safe bladder capacity(RSBC) to treat vesical-ureteral reflux(VUR).MethodsThere were 23 male complete SCI patients, aged between 7~45 years, including 15 patients without vesicao-ureteral reflux injuried 1~3 months as control group, 3 patients in mild group affected only ureter, and 5 patients in severe group affected not only ureter but also the pelvis. All the patients were taken intermittent catheterrization according to their own RSBC companied with supersonic device. The times of IC per day is that the average total urine volume one day was divided by RSBC. The observation time is over 2 years. During the oberservation some medicine was used to enlarge some patients bladder capacity.ResultsThere were no reflux in the control group; the reflux in the mild group improved a lot, some even disappeared, and there were no change in the severe group.ConclusionIC by RSBC is effective to prevent and cure vesical-ureteral reflux in some SCI patients.
