OBJECTIVETo explore the effects of acupuncture with different filiform needles on structure of fascial connective tissues, cellular activity, arrangement and content of collagen fibers in acupoint area of rats.
METHODSA total of 32 SD rats were randomly divided into a blank group, a thin needle group, a medium needle group and a thick needle group, 8 rats in each one. Except for the blank group, rats in the remaining groups were treated with horizontal acupuncture at "Zhongwan" (CV 12) towards Conception Vessel with different filiform needles, and twirling mild reinforcing-reducing method was applied, once a day. Rats in the blank group were treated with identical anesthesia, grasping and fixation. After 3-day intervention, the fascial connective tissue of acupoint area was collected. HE staining, immumohistochemical staining of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) and MASSON staining were adopted to observe the morphology of fascial connective tissues, expression of PCNA in cells and arrangement and expression of collagenous fiber.
RESULTSAfter acupuncture in each group, the consistency of morphology of fascial connective tissues and arrangement of collagenous fiber were changed; the expression of PCNA protein in the fascial connective tissue in each group was significantly increased (P<0. 01, P<0. 05). The area distribution of collagenous fiber were changed, and that in the thin needle group was insignificantly increased compared with that in the blank group (P>0. 05), and that in the medium needle group and thick needle group were reduced compared with that in the blank group (both P<0. 05).
CONCLUSIONSAcupuncture with different filiform needles can change the local tissue morphology of acupoints, strengthen cell activity and adjust the exyression of collagenous fiber protein, which may be one of the cellular biomechanics principles of the acupuncture therapy's "regulating meridians" effects. However, the stimulation is produced by different fifiform needles, and the complex relationships exist between cells and collagen fibers.

OBJECTIVETo observe the clinical efficacy of transcutanclus electrical acupoint stimulation (TEAS) on prevention and treatment of orthodontic toothache and oral dysfunction.
METHODSA total of 85 patients of malocclusions in the preliminary diagnosis were randomly divided into a control group (20 cases), a psychological intervention group (22 cases), a medication group (20 cases) and a TEAS group (23 cases). Orthodontics treatment was given in all the groups. Patients in the control group received no further treatment; patients in the psychological intervention group received comprehensive psychological intervention, including cognitive education and music therapy; patients in the medication group received oral administration of ibuprofen; patients in the TEAS group received TEAS at Juliao (ST 3), Jiachengjiang (Extra) and auricular point Ya (LO1). The treatment was given twice a day, one in morning and one at night, for 7 days. The pain scores of orthodontic toothache and changes of oral dysfunction were observed in all groups.
RESULTS(1) At 5 time points from the 12th hour to the 4th day, the scores of spontaneous pain in TEAS group were lower than those in the control group (all P < 0.01); during the time points, the scores in TEAS group were lower than those in the psychological intervention group (P < 0.05, P < 0.01), which were similar to those in the medication group (all P > 0.05). (2) During the peak cycle of spontaneous toothache, the scores of irritation pain in TEAS group were significantly lower than those in the control group (all P < O.01), regardless of time-point statistics or general statistics; the scores of irritation pain in the TEAS group were also significantly lower than those in the psychological intervention group (all P < 0.01), which were similar to those in the medication group (all P > 0. 05). (3) Compared with control group, the grading of talking disorder in the remaining groups did not change significantly (P > 0.05). (4) Compared with control group, the grading of moderate-severe eating disorder in TEAS group was significantly reduced (P < O.05), which was not different from that in the medication group (P > 0.05). The differences of the grading of moderate-severe eating disorder were not significantly different between the psychological intervention group and control group (P > 0.05). (5) There were 3 cases of digestive system adverse reactions in the medication group.
CONCLUSIONTEAS can efficiently prevent orthodontic toothache and oral dysfunction, which is superior to psychological intervention and similar to medication. In addition, it can avoid possible side-effect of medication.

Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effects of gemcitabine regional artery perfusion combined with systemic chemotherapy for late-stage cancer of pancreas. Methods Thirteen cases of late-stage cancer of pancreas proven by operation and pathology were treated with 5-FU+MMC as a combined system chemotherapy, and use of gemcitabine for regional artery perfusion chemotherapy. Results Among the 13 patients who could be evaluated for therapeutic effect, four cases had partial response (PR), six cases had (SD), three cases were PD, and the effective rate of the clinical benifical-reflected evaluation was 76.9%, pain releive rate 75.0% the median survival time was 6.3 months. None of the patients have had serious toxious side-effects.Conclusions The gemcitabine regional artery perfusion combined with systemic chemotherapy can relieve the cancer pain of patients with late-stage cancer of pancreas, improve their general condition, increase the survival quality of life, prolong the survival time. The drug tolerance of the patients is good.

Objective To summaize the experience of application of direct digital radiography and electrohydraulic shockwave lithotripsy in treatment of residual bile duct stones. Methods A retrospective analysis of clinical records of 60 patients with residual bile duct stones treated in our hospital from 2003 to 2006 was made. Results In 59(95.9%) of 60 cases the stones were removed completely, including successful removal in one time of application of this method in 57 Patients(95.0 %),and 2 applications in 2 Patients ﹙3.3 %).One case with bile duct stone complicated with dile duct cancer was unsuccessful. The biggest stone was 3.5 cm?2.5 cm?2.0 cm.No serious complications occurred and changed to operation. The 59 cases were followed up for 6 mo to l yr,and all had a successful outcome. Conclusions The method of combination of direct digital radiography and electrohydraulic shockwave lithotripsy in treatment of postoperative residual bile duct stones after operation can facilitate removal of residual bile duct stones. The procedure is a safe way of treating residual stones.

Objective To summarize the clinical experience of three different treatments for gallbladder and common bile duct stones. Methods The clinical data of 180 cases of gallbladder stones combined with bile duct stones undergoing surgery from May 2010 to May 2013 were retrospectively analyzed. They were divided into three groups,A group of 60 patients underwent a period of endoscopic sphincterotomy (EST),under the second phase of laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC);Group B 60 patients underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) + laparoscopic common bile duct exploration surgery (LCBDE) + T tube drainage;Group C 60 patients underwent conventional open cholecystectomy (OC) + bile duct exploration (OCBDE) + T tube drainage. Results A group of 53 cases completed surgery successfully,5 cases of remaining 7 patients failured in the first phase surgery,2 cases of the 5 patients did LC + LCBDE,3 of the 5 patients underwent conventional surgery. Two patients underwent the conventional surgery in the second phase surgery.B group of 57 cases completed surgery successfully, three cases convert to open surgery. All of the group C completed the surgery successfully.Group A complication was the most in the three groups (P<0.05);group B had the shortest time of hospitalization (P<0.05),the complication rate was lower than that in group A (P<0.05),the complication had no significant difference between A and B.(P and group B > 0.05),group B had shortest operation time (P<0.05);no statistically significant differences were found among three groups in fasting time. Conclusion Three treatment methods have advantages as well as disadvantages,a reasonable treatment should be selected according to the specific circumstances.
