Objective To investigate the histologic basis of imaging manifestations on adrenal myelolipoma and evaluate the value of various imaging modalities in diagnosing the tumor. Methods The imaging manifestations and pathological features of 21 cases of adrenal myelolipoma proved by postsurgical pathology were retrospectively analysed. Results Histologically, the myelolipoma presented hematopoietic elements amidst fatty tissue and showed indefinite border. The myeloid tissue was well vascularized and were adherent closely to normal adrenal gland. Both CT and MRI detected a single mass with irregular plaque or streak of bone marrow tissues between fatty components. The capsule of the tumor was not apparent, but rarely it presented an irregular local “capsule”which was composed of adrenal tissue with compression surrounding the tumor.Enhanced-scan found foggy enhancement in fatty tissue and enhancement of bone marrow tissue which made myeloid plaque enlarged and the edge misted.Ultrasonography demonstrated highly echogenic fat-containing ball of adrenal, while intravenous urography only showed translocation and renal axis alteration of homolateral kidney. Conclusion CT scan appears to be the most accurate qualitative modality to demonstrate adrenal myelolipoma while coronal and sagittal section scanning on MRI can make its localization more exact.Ultrasonography is also an important way in detecting the mass whereas intravenous urography and abdominal plain film should not be used to be the qualitative criterion.

Objeetive To evaluate the serum concentration of sialic acid (SA) and High sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) in prehypertension patients and possible correlation of the two factors and blood pressure in prehypertension patients. Methods 61 prehypertension patients,70 hypertension patients and 50 healthy controls were included.Lipid profile,hs-CRP,SA,and body mass index (BMI) were estimated in all the groups.Associations between SA and hs-CRP and blood pressure were analyzed by multiple linear regressions. Results The levels of SA and hs-CRP were higher in the prehypertension group than those in the normal group and lower than those in the hypertension group(P < 0.05).There was significant difference in systolic blood pressure (SBP),diastolic pressure (DBP),BMI and HDL among the three groups(P < 0.05).There was significant difference between the prehypertension group and the hypertension group in LDL,TC and FBG.Multiple linear regression showed that FBG,BMI,SA and hs-CRP were correlated with SBP independently while LDL,BMI,SA and hs-CRP were correlated with DBP independently (P < 0.05).Conclusions The findings of the present study suggest that, there is an association between blood pressure and the levels of serum SA and hs-CRP which might be used as screening biomarkers in prehypertension.

Objective To investigate the effect of gastrointestinal environment on fecal occult blood test. Methods Mixed peripheral venous blood (45 ml) of 25 healthy volunteers from medical examination center of China-Japan Friendship Hospital in 2015 were collected to establish an in vitro gastrointestinal digestion model. The model was used to study the effects of different digestion time and concentration of digestive juice on the immunochemical fecal occult blood test using two kinds of occult blood detection reagents. Results When the amount of bleeding was over 5 ml,fecal occult blood test still showed positive after artificial stomach liquid digestion for 2 hours and artificial intestinal liquid digestion for 5 hours. The fecal occult blood test turned negative after artificial stomach liquid digestion for 0.5-3 hours and artificial intestinal liquid digestion for 3 hours. The positive rate of fecal occult blood test was closely related to the amount of bleeding. When the amount of bleeding was large and bleeding was acute, false negative could be caused by postzone phenomenon. The upper detection limit of two reagents was more than 3 165 ng/L,and the lower detection limit was0.2 ng/L.Conclusions Higher positive rate was detected not only in lower digestive tract bleeding but also in upper gastrointestinal bleeding with immunoassay method.Immunochemical fecal occult blood reagent had a wide detection range and could meet the clinical requirements for detection of gastrointestinal bleeding.

OBJECTIVETo explore the effect of ERK1/2 MAPK pathway on the expression of Kv1.5 channel, a voltage-gated potassium ion channel, in rat pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells (PASMCs) and its mechanisms during the process of hypoxia.
METHODSThe PASMCs derived from SD rats were cultivated primarily. The third to sixth generation of PASMCs were divided into 5 groups randomly: (1) Normal group (N); (2) Hypoxic group (H); (3) Demethy sulfoxide(DMSO) group (HD); (4) U0126 group (HU): 10 micromol/L U0126; (5) Anisomycin group (HA): 10 micromol/L anisomycin. There were three dishes of cells in each group. The cells in normal group were cultured in normoxic incubator (5% CO2, 37 degrees C), the cells in other groups were added to 0.05% DMSO in the hypoxic incubator (5% CO2, 2% O2, 37 degrees C), all cells were cultured for 60 h. RT-PCR and Western blot were used to detected the espressions of Kv1.5 mRNA and protein in PASMCs.
RESULTSCompared with N group, the expressions of Kv1.5 mRNA and protein in H, HD and HA groups were reduced significantly (P < 0.05); Compared with H group and HD groups, Kv1.5 mRNA and protein expressions in HU group were increased sharply (P < 0.05). Compared with the HU group, Kv1.5 mRNA and protein expressions in HA groups were significantly lower (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONLow oxygen reduced Kv1.5 mRNA and protein expressions, U0126 could resistant the Kv1.5 channel lower expression caused by hypoxia. Anisomycin had no significant effect on Kv1.5 channel expression under hypoxia, but the expression of Kv1.5 was still significantly lower than the normal oxygen group. These data suggest that hypoxia may cause hypoxic pulmonary hypertension by interfering ERK1/2 signaling pathway to inhibit Kv1.5

Objective To explore the relationship between 5, 10-methylenetrahydrofolate reeducates gene polymorphism of the parents and the susceptibility to their offspring having neural tube defects. To forecast and evaluate the onset risk of neural tube defects (NTDs) on the basis of 5, 10-methylenetrahydrofolate reeducates (MTHFR) C677T polymorphism on parents of the patients. Methods Electronic search strategy was carried out among the five databases from home and abroad to collect qualified research papers, according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Case-control studies on association between MTHFR polymorphism and susceptibility to NTDs were collected and divided into two groups as mothers and fathers. The combined OR values and their 95% CI were calculated with Review Manager 5.0. Results 33 eligible studies were included. Statistics of the combined data showed a significant difference between the mothers with NTDs offspring carrying TT/CC, CT/CC of MTHFR gene C677T and controls. The pooled OR (95%CI) were 1.68 (1.32-2.14)and 1.20 (1.07-1.35) respectively. These was a significant difference between the fathers of the offspring with NTDs that carrying of TT/CC, CT/CC of MTHFR gene C677T and controls. The pooled ORs (95%CI) were 1.38 (1.08-1.76) and 1.32 (1.13-1.55) respectively. Conclusion The results suggested that the paternal and maternal MTHFR gene C677T polymorphism were risk factors to NTDs.
