The physical functions of the heart and brain is based on the sufficiency, fluency and balance of qi and blood. Therefore, the basic pathogenesis of cardio-cerebrovascular diseases should be imbalance of qi and blood. Any causative agent is bound to influence the harmony of qi and blood once it attacks the heart and brain, its evolving laws are qi stagnancy and blood stasis at early stage, subsequent cementation of phlegm and blood stasis, and more qi deficiency and more blood stasis in the end. Regulating qi and activating blood circulation may harmonize qi and blood, balance yin and yang, which should be served as the basic therapeutic method for treating cardio-cerebrovascular diseases.

Objective:To investigate the clinical value of Yiqi Wenyang Huoxue Recipe in the treatment of chronic cor pulmonale. Methods:Sixty patients with clinical criteria of chronic pulmonary heart disease were collected and divided into treatment group and control group according to the random numbers table, of which 30 cases were in the treatment group and 30 cases were in the control group. In the treatment group, 30 cases were treated with routine drug treatment plus Yiqi Wenyang Huoxue Fang created by Professor Yandexin. In control group, 30 patients underwent routine treatment. The levels of left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), B-natriuretic peptide (BNP), Forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV 1)/Forced expiratory volume (FVC) and quality of life score of the two groups were compared. Results:After treatment, the BNP in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group [(218.50 ± 25.64) ng/L vs. (211.60 ± 29.51) ng/L], the LVEF in the treatment group was higher than that in the control group [(58.83 ± 3.16)% vs. (52.80 ± 4.23)%], FEV 1/FVC and quality of life score were higher than those in the control group [(89.13 ± 3.44) scores vs. (76.90 ± 3.79) scores, (79.27 ± 5.71) scores vs. (70.30 ± 5.49) scores], and there were significant differences ( P<0.05). There were no significant changes in kidney function, coagulation function and electrocardiogram in treatemnt group before and after treatment. Conclusions:Treatment of chronic cor pulmonale with traditional Chinese medicine Yiqi Wenyang Huoxue on the basis of conventional western medicine can significantly improve the clinical curative effect of the disease, reduce the burden on the heart and improve the quality of life.

Chinese Journal of Postgraduates of Medicine 2021;44(11):1015-1019
Objective:To investigate the clinical efficacy of Yixin tang in patients with chronic pulmonary heart disease (CPHD).Methods:The clinical data of 72 patients with CPHD in Shanghai Tenth People′s Hospital from April 2018 to April 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. Among them, 36 patients were treated with conventional western medicine therapy (control group), and 36 patients were treated with Conventional western medicine therapy and Yixin tang (observation group). The left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), forced expired volume in one second to forced vital capacity ratio (FEV 1/FVC), D-dimer (D-D), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6), St. George respiratory questionnaire (SGRQ) score and Chinese medicine syndrome score before and after treatment were compared between 2 groups. Results:There were no statistical differences in the indexes before treatment between 2 groups ( P>0.05). The FEV 1/FVC and LVEF after treatment in observation group were significantly higher than those in control group: (89.01 ± 3.24)% vs. (78.13 ± 3.52)% and (60.32 ± 2.36)% vs. (52.80 ± 3.23)%, the TNF-α, IL-6, D-D, Chinese medicine syndrome score and SGRQ total score, limitation of activity score, symptom score, disease impact score were significantly lower than those in control group: (6.95 ± 2.67) pg/L vs. (10.45 ± 4.07) pg/L, (4.36 ± 1.24) pg/L vs. (6.90 ± 7.42) pg/L, (0.32 ± 0.13) pg/L vs. (1.07 ± 0.43) pg/L, (14.50 ± 3.00) scores vs. (16.43 ± 3.08) scores, (20 ± 12) scores vs. (50 ± 20) scores, (21 ± 15) scores vs. (45 ± 14) scores, (22 ± 11) scores vs. (65 ± 16) scores and (17 ± 10) scores vs. (47 ± 14) scores, and there were statistical differences ( P<0.05). Conclusions:The conventional western medicine treatment combined with Yixin tang can effectively improve cardiopulmonary function, inflammatory reaction and quality of life.
