Objective:To illustrate a relatively complete knowledge system (e.g., research outputs, current hotspots, and future trends) in the sepsis field and to help scholars grasp the scientific research direction or clinical focus of treatment. Methods:The relevant literatures of sepsis during the time from 1985 to 2019 in Web of Science database were collected. Sepsis-related research contents were generated using softwares (CiteSpace 5.6.R2 and VOSviewer 1.6.13), which using data mining, information processing and knowledge map methods, to analyze the historical evolution and predict the development trend. Results:A total of 8 189 papers on sepsis were published. The volume of publications were increasing yearly from 1985 to 2019, and reached the top list of 1 276 in 2019. For research contents of sepsis, it has formed the basic characteristics of sepsis which focusing on epidemiological studies and animal experiments. Through cluster analysis, the researches mainly focused on six aspects: septic rat, necrotizingenterocolitis, sepsis-associated encephalopathy, acute kidney injury (AKI), gut-derived sepsis, and inflammatory mediator. And it presented the literature characteristics that related to the injury or dysfunction of intestines, brain, liver, kidney or other organs, but the heart and lung researches were more marginal. Additionally, based on the top key words with the strongest citation bursts, it reflected that the development trend of the continuous attention hotspots with "endotoxin" or "endotoxin shock", the significant attention hotspots with "inflammation", "immunity" and "multiple organ dysfunction syndrome" (MODS), and the novel burst attention hotspots with sepsis management including "diagnosis" and "chemotherapy".Conclusions:Through the hotspots and trends visualization of sepsis, the current researches are prefer to animal experiments, epidemiology, or other basic scientific aspects. Meanwhile, the researches are mostly focusing on inflammatory reaction, immune function or organ dysfunctions. Integrating the knowledge maps of hotspots and trends, based on researches of epidemiology, diagnosis, risk factors, pathogenesis, or treatment, we predict that the future scientific topics will concentrating on childhood sepsis, organ injury mechanism or intervention relating to MODS, and integrated management of sepsis by combining traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine.

Journal of Traditional Chinese Medical Sciences 2024;11(3):293-302
Objective:
To explore the neuroprotective effects of the Shaoyao Gancao decoction (SGD) against excitatory damage in PC12 cells and the role of the Src-NR2-nNOS pathway mediation by SGD in regulating γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA)-glutamate (Glu) homeostasis.
Methods:
N-Methyl-d-aspartic acid (NMDA) was used to establish a PC12 cell excitability injury model. To investigate the neuroprotective effect of SGD, a cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) assay was used to determine PC12 cell viability, Annexin V/Propidium Iodide (Annexin V/PI) double staining was used to determine PC12 cell apoptosis, and Ca2+ concentration was observed using laser confocal microscopy. GABA receptor agonists and antagonists were used to analyze the neuroprotective interactions between γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and NMDA receptors. Additionally, molecular biology techniques were used to determine mRNA and protein expression in the Src-NR2-nNOS pathway. We analyzed the correlations between the regulatory sites of GABA and NMDA interactions, excitatory neurotoxicity, and brain damage at the molecular level.
Results:
NMDA excitotoxic injury manifested as a significant decrease in cell activity, increased apoptosis and caspase-3 protein expression, and a significant increase in intracellular Ca2+ concentration. Administration of SGD, a GABAA receptor agonist (muscimol), or a GABAB receptor agonist (baclofen) decreased intracellular Ca2+ concentrations, attenuated apoptosis, and reversed NMDA-induced upregulation of caspase-3, Src, NMDAR2A, NMDAR2B, and nNOS. Unexpectedly, a GABAA receptor antagonist (bicuculline) and a GABAB receptor antagonist (saclofen) failed to significantly increase excitatory neurotoxicity.
Conclusions
Taken together, these results not only provide an experimental basis for SGD administration in the clinical treatment of central nervous system injury diseases, but also suggest that the Src-NR2A-nNOS pathway may be a valuable target in excitotoxicity treatment.

Chinese Journal of Digestive Endoscopy 2018;35(1):49-54
Objective To evaluate the long-term outcome of fully covered self-expandable metal stents(FCSEMS)for the treatment of benign biliary strictures(BBS). Methods Between June 2008 and September 2013, 68 patients with BBS receiving endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography and FCSEMS placement were retrospectively enrolled. Data of endoscopic treatment, stricture resolution and recurrence were collected, and related risk factors were analyzed. Results FCSEMSs were successfully placed in all patients and removed in 93.4%(57/61). The median stent duration was 9.0(range 0.2-37.1)months. Stricture resolution occurred in 74.2%(46/62)patients. During median follow-up of 54.0 (range 2.5-96.0)months,stricture recurrences were seen in 16.7%(6/36)patients. Multivariate analysis revealed that distance between stricture and hepatic bifurcation of less than 1.5 cm(P=0.034,OR=6.395, 95%CI:1.153-35.464), and stent migration(P= 0.024, OR= 0.153, 95%CI:0.030-0.782)were significant risk factors for stricture resolution. Meanwhile, the stricture length longer than 1.0 cm(P=0.028, HR = 6.766, 95% CI:1.233-37.122)was a significant risk factor for stricture recurrence. Conclusion Endoscopic treatment combined with FCSEMS can achieve excellent efficacy in resolving BBS with low recurrence rate. However, location and length of BBS, as well as stent migration may impair its effectiveness.

Objective:
To explore the relationship between depressive symptoms, negative life events and resilience among primary and secondary school teachers, so as to provide a reference for mental health promotion in school teachers.
Methods:
During November to December 2022, a questionnaire survey was conducted using convenient cluster sampling method to select 11 332 in service teachers from 38 schools in 8 provinces (cities) including Beijing, Guangdong, Anhui, Hubei, Sichuan, Xinjiang, Liaoning, and Heilongjiang. The Patient Health Questionnaire-9 items, a self developed 21-item Adverse Life Events questionnaire, and a 10-item Conner-Davidson Resilience Scale were used to assess depressive symptoms, experiences of negative life events, and resilience levels of the teachers, respectively. The relationship between depressive symptoms, negative life events and psychological resilience were analyzed by multiple linear regression and stratified regression.
Results:
The detection rate of depressive symptoms among primary and secondary school teachers was 14.0%. Negative life events of primary and secondary school teachers were positively correlated with depressive symptoms ( r =0.35), while psychological resilience was negatively correlated with depressive symptoms ( r =-0.45) ( P <0.05). After adjusting for possible covariates including gender and marital status, negative life events were positively correlated with depressive symptoms ( β=0.22, P <0.01). Resilience played a moderating role in the association of negative life events with depressive symptoms among primary and secondary school teachers ( B=-0.15, P <0.01).
Conclusions
Negative life events experiences are associated with higher level of depressive symptoms among school teachers. However, resilience might mitigate the negative effects of negative life events on depressive symptoms, playing a protective role in teachers mental health.
9.Origin of "Disease,Pulse,Syndrome Combined Treatment" and its Relationship with Syndrome Differentiation and Treatment
Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2024;65(16):1633-1638
"Disease, pulse, and syndrome combined treatment" is a diagnosis and treatment model of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) originally created by ZHANG Zhongjing in Treatise on Cold Damage and Miscellaneous Diseases (《伤寒杂病论》), and is a theory guided practice model. By tracing back the origin, formation and the establishment of the diagnosis and treatment model of "disease, pulse, and syndrome combined treatment", as well as the proposal and extensive application of syndrome differentiation and treatment, it is believed that "disease, pulse, and syndrome combined treatment" originated from the "disease-drug" model in the pre-Qin dynasty, and the "disease-prescription-drug" model of the classical prescription school and the "disease-pulse-treatment” model of the medical classics school in the late Qin dynasty. In the Eastern Han dynasty, the model of “disease, pulse, and syndromes combined treatment" is constructed, forming a disease-symptom combined diagnosis and treatment model of "taking disease as the main principle, pulse and syndrome as the purpose, and treating the disease for its root cause", and establishing a set of clinical thinking procedures for identifying and treating the root of the diseases. Based on ZHANG's model of "disease, pulse, and syndrome combined treatment", later generations of doctors expanded and developed it further until Ming and Qing dynasties when treatment based syndrome differentiation is proposed, and then modern syndrome differentiation and treatment model is established. Furthermore, it develops into the disease-syndrome combined model based on syndrome differentiation and treatment. It is thus considered that the syndrome differentiation and treatment model is a further evolution and development of the "disease, pulse and syndrome combined treatment" model in contemporary times.
