Hydatid worms, hosted by humans and animals, impose serious human health risk and cause significant livestock production loss. To better understand the disease infection status in Xinjiang, China, we investigated the disease epidemics in 4 livestock animals, i.e., cattle, sheep (both sheep and goat), camels, and horses, slaughtered at the abattoirs in Urumqi, Yining, Tacheng, and Altay areas. The results showed that the animals were infected at different rates, in the order of sheep (9.8%), cattle (8.4%), camels (6.8%), and horses (4.3%). The infection rates were found to be different between the abattoirs in various regions even for the same animals. For sheep, the rates increased significantly as the animals grew older. It was 1.9% before 1 year of age and increased to 8.2% in the age of 1-2 years, and further increased to 12.3% when the animals were 3-4 years old, and reached 17.2% when they were 5-6 year old. Sheep older than 6 years had an infection rate of 19.5%. This study demonstrates that the 4 livestock animals in the pastoral areas in Xinjiang were infected by the parasites to various extend. This study is the first systematic investigation of the hydatid worms in various livestock animals in Xinjiang, China, which provides epidemiological information about the infection of hydatid worms in livestock, and is valuable in developing strategies for prevention and control of the hydatid disease.

Objective To investigate the protective effect of total saponins of Panax japonicus(TSPJ)against CCl4-induced acute liver injury(ALI)in rats and explore the underlying pharmacological mechanisms. Methods Male SD rat models of CCl4-induced ALI were given intraperitoneal injections of distilled water,100 mg/kg biphenyl bisabololol,or 50,100,and 200 mg/kg TSPJ during modeling(n=8).Liver functions(AST,ALT,TBil and ALP)of the rats were assessed and liver pathologies were observed with HE staining.Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expressions of PI3K/Akt/NF-κB signaling pathway molecules in liver tissue;ELISA was used to determine the levels of T-SOD,GSH-Px,and MDA.Western blotting was performed to detect the expression levels of PI3K-Akt and SIRT6-NF-κB pathways in the liver tissue. Results Network pharmacological analysis indicated that the key pathways including PI3K/Akt mediated the therapeutic effect of TSPJ on ALI.In the rat models of ALI,treatments with biphenyl bisabololol and TSPJ significantly ameliorated CCl4-induced increase of serum levels AST,ALT,ALP,TBil and MDA and decrease of T-SOD and GSH-Px levels(all P<0.01).The rat models of ALI showed significantly increased expression of p-NF-κB(P<0.01),decreased expressions of PI3K,p-Akt and SIRT6 proteins, and elevated expression levels of p-NF-κB,TNF-α and IL-6 proteins in the liver, which were all significantly improved in the treatment groups(P<0.05 or 0.01).Conclusion TSPJ can effectively alleviate CCl4-induced ALI in rats by suppressing inflammatory responses and oxidative stress in the liver viaregulating the PI3K/Akt and SIRT6/NF-κB pathways.

Objective To investigate the composition of symptom clusters in early postoperative breast cancer patients and analyze the sentinel symptoms of each cluster of symptoms. Methods A total of 309 patients who underwent mastectomy were conveniently sampled and surveyed using the Chinese version of the Anderson Symptom Inventory.Principal component analysis and varimax or-thogonal rotation were employed to analyze the symptom clusters, and their associations were analyzed using the Apriori algorithm model to identify the sentinel symptoms of each cluster of symptoms.Re-sults Three symptom clusters were identified in early postoperative breast cancer patients:neuro-sleep symptom cluster[fatigue(weakness)-distress-pain-sleepiness-restless sleep],sensory-perception symptom cluster(numbness-forgetfulness-shortness of breath-sadness-dry mouth),and digestive system symptom cluster(nausea-vomiting-loss of appetite).Fatigue was the sentinel symptom of the neuro-sleep symptom cluster, numbness was the sentinel symptom of the sensory-perception symptom cluster, and nausea was the sentinel symptom of the digestive system symptom cluster. Conclusion Early postoperative breast cancer patients experience multiple symptom clusters, with sentinel symptoms ex-isting in each cluster.Healthcare staff should develop intervention measures based on sentinel symp-toms to improve the efficiency of symptom management and reduce the degree of symptom distress for patients.

OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the outcomes of hybrid procedure in treating 10 infants/children with pulmonary stenosis under transesophageal echocardiographic guidance.
METHODS:
Between September, 2009 and December, 2015, 10 infants/children underwent hybrid procedure of transthoracic balloon pulmonary valvuloplasty for pulmonary stenosis in the Second Xiangya Hospital, Central South University. The age, height and weight at the time of admission were 0.7-42 (14.8±15.8) months, 53-97 (74.8±16.3) cm, and 4-15.5 (9.3±4.1) kg, respectively. Atrial septal defect, patent foramen ovale, patent ductus arteriosus, muscular ventricular septal defect, persistent left superior vena cava and tricuspid regurgitation were found in 2, 6, 1, 2, 1 and 5 cases, respectively.
RESULTS:
After the operation, all patients were sent into ICU. The mean duration mechanical ventilation, ICU stay and hospitalization were 0.5-41(6.8±12.3) h, 2-85 (31.1±22.8) h, and 6-20 (11.4±5.1) d, respectively. Postoperative transvalvular pressure gradient reduced to 16-45 (31.1±9.8) mmHg, which was decreased significantly compared with that in preoperative (P<0.001). There was no death during hospitalization and follow-up.
CONCLUSION
Hybrid procedure of transthoracic balloon pulmonary valvuloplasty for pulmonary stenosis under transesophageal echocardiographic guidance is a safe and effective treatment.
