Objective To investigate dynamic change of anterior pituitary hormones (APHs), thyroid func-tion (TF) and genital hormones (GnHs) in patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and their clinical signifi-cance. Method APHs, TF and GnH were tested in 93 patients with TBI,who were admitted to Zhejiang Provin-cial People's Hopital from March 2006 to June 2007. Patients with primary injury in the hypothalamic and pituitary regions, as detected by CT and/or MR/examination, as well as those with tumors or immune diseases in the CNS,endocrine or urinogenital systems, were excluded. The clinical data were analyzed according to Glasgow coma scores (GCS), type and degree of injury, and whether there was any secondary cerebral injury. Twenty healthy people acted as controls. The data were analyzed by the Hotelling T2 test and t-tests using SAS 11.5. A P value of less than 0.05 indicated statistical significance. Results The levels of adrenocortieotropic hormone (ACTH),luteinizing hormone (LH) and prolactin (PRL) were markedly higher in all 93 TBI patients than controls, while those of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), thyroid hormone T3,T4 and FT3 were significantly lower in TBI pa-tients in the early stage after injury than in those at follow-up and controls (P<0.05). The ACTH and PRL val-ues reached (33.33±6.86) and (31.74±5.51), respectively, and the LH value was (9.48±1.14) in the secondary cerebral injury group. The TSH value (1.26±0.17) in the brain injury group was significantly lower than those in controls (P<0.05). With the exception of TSH, PRL, testosterone (T) and E2, other APHs were markedly lower in TBI patients at following-up than in controls (P<0.05). The incidence of traumatic hypothala-mus-pituitary insufficiency (THPI) associated with low levels of more than three APHs was 3.2%, while 13.8% of THPI patients showed low levels of at least one APH. The ratio of sick euthyroid syndrome (SETS) was 14.0%. Conclusions A low level of a single APH is the prevalent pattern in THPI patients. Secondary cerebral injury, such as acute high intracranial pressure, brain edema and ischemia after TBI, may be the chief causes of THPI. Early hyperprolactinemia is an important indication for presaging THPI. The dynamic levels of neurcen-docrine hormones can serve as an important index for determining the suitability of TBI patients for treatment with hormone therapy.

Chinese Journal of Trauma 1990;0(04):-
Objective To evaluate advantages of the Herbert screw in treating displaced radial head fractures. Methods The Herbert screw was used to treat 25 segmental fractures of the radial head from since 1991 and the results were compared with those of other treatment methods mentioned in the literature. Results A follow up averaging 6 years and 8 months showed that postoperative function was all excellent or good and that most cases recovered to normal absolutely, without complications. Conclusions The Herbert screw provides such rigid internal fixation for displaced radial head fractures that, after operation, a plaster cast is rarely required and most patients are able to return to work within a few weeks. This method of treatment appears to offer significant advantages over conventional techniques.

Objective With multi?center investigation, to assess the life quality of patients with maintained hemodialysis (MHD) in Liaoning Province and to explore the relationship among the mineral metabolism, the life quality of the patients with MHD, and the repeated hospitalization within the latest three years. Methods 1192 patients with hemodialysis (at least 3 months) from January to March in 2015 at ten blood purification centers in Liaoning Province were selected for the cross?————————sectional survey. The Kidney Health?related Quality of Life (HRQOL) version 1.3 was used to evaluate the MHD patients' life quality. The total length of hospitalization was divided into four groups: 0 days, 3 to 15 days, 16 to 30 days and above 30 days. Results When serum calcium value ranged from 2.1 to 2.5 mmol/L, kidney?disease component summary (KDCS), mental component summary (MCS), physical component summary (PCS) and SF?36+KDCS corresponded to a higher value (P<0.05). When serum phosphorus value ranged from 1.13 to 1.78 mmol/L, KDCS and SF?36+KDCS corresponded to a higher value (P<0.05). When the calcium phosphorus product value ranged from 40.68 to 49.94, MCS corresponded to a higher value (P<0.05). KDCS showed a linear correlation with age (P<0.001), dialysis age, serum calcium (less than or equal to 2.5 mmol/L) (P<0.05); PCS showed a linear correlation with age (P<0.001) and dialysis age (P<0.05); SF?36+KDCS showed a linear correlation with age (P<0.001), and serum calcium (less than or equal to 2.5 mmol/L) (P<0.05), while age and dialysis age were negatively correlated. The hospitalization days showed a linear correlation with age, dialysis age (P<0.001) and serum phosphorus, calcium phosphorus product value (P<0.05), while dialysis age and calcium phosphorus product value were negatively correlated. Among different groups of total hospitalization days in three years, age, hemodialysis age, serum calcium, serum phosphorus, calcium?phosphorus product value and quality of life values were all statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusions The life quality of patients with MHD were correlated with serum calcium, phosphorus, calcium and phosphorus product value, iPTH, dialysis age and age, while age and dialysis age were of negative correlation. The total number of hospitalization days in 3 years was closely linearly correlated with age and dialysis age, significantly correlated with serum phosphorus, calcium and phosphorus product value, while dialysis age, calcium and phosphorus product value were in a negative correlation. The total number of hospitalization in 3 years was correlated with the patients' age, dialysis age, serum calcium, serum phosphorus, calcium and phosphorus product value and quality of life.

Pectobacterium carotovorum subsp. carotovorum is one of the world's top ten plant pathogens, mainly infecting cruciferous economic crops and ornamental flowers. In this study, an antibacterial gene cpxP (Gene ID: 29704421) was cloned from the genome of Pectobacterium carotovorum subsp. carotovorum, and constructed on the prokaryotic expression plasmid pET-15b, and the recombinant plasmid was transformed into Escherichia coli BL21 (DE3), then stability and bacteriostatic experiments of the purified CpxP protein were performed. The final concentration of IPTG was 1 mmol/L, obtaining high-efficiency exogenous expression of the CpxP protein. There was no other protein after purification, and the destined protein exhibited good thermal stability and pH stability. The antibacterial test results showed that the inhibition rate of the CpxP protein on carrot slice was 44.89% while the inhibition rate on potato slice was 59.41%. To further explain its antibacterial mechanism, studying the spatial structure of this protein can provide new ideas for the control of soft rot and new protein pesticide targets.
