ObjectiveTo observe the effect of Integrated Chinese-western three-stage rehabilitation on activities of daily living (ADL) in stroke patients. Methods60 stroke patients were randomly divided into the trial group and control group with 30 cases in each group. Patients of control group were treated with routine neurological interventions and three-stage rehabilitation, while those of trial group were administered resuscitating acupuncture therapy, scalp and body acupuncture in addition. All the patients were assessed with modified Barthel index (MBI) at the beginning, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months respectively after stroke. ResultsThere was no significant difference in ADL between the trial and control groups at the beginning, and both improved at the following period (P<0.01). At each of the following period, either the ADL scores (P<0.05) or the increase of the ADL scores (P<0.05) of the trial group were significant higher than those of the control group. ConclusionIntegrated Chinese-western three-stage rehabilitation could improve the ADL further for the stroke patients.

Objective To explore protective effects of curcumin on lung injury in the early hepatic ischemia/reperfsion (reperfusion for 1 and 3 hour) inrats. Methods Wistarratswererandom]y divided into the fo]]owinggroups: GroupA (shamoperation), group B (control group) and group C (cureumin applied). Contents of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), malondialdehyde (MDA), myeloperoxidase (MPO) in lung tissues were determined to evaluate the protective effect of eurcumin on lung injury in the injury of isehemia/ reperfusion. Results Curcumin relieved edema of diaphragmatic wall and exudation of blood cell and white cell in pulmonary alveoli. Curcumin increased the contents of SOD, CAT and decreased contents of MDA, MPO in lung tissue. Conclusion By repressing the generation of oxygen free radical and infiltration of polymorphonuclear leukocyte in lung tissue, curcumin can relieve lung injury in the early hepatic ischemia/repeffusion.

To reveal the colonization characteristics in host of endophytic biocontrol bacteria NJ13 isolated from Panax ginseng, this study obtained the marked strain NJ13-R which was double antibiotic resistant to rifampicin and streptomycin through enhancing the method of inducing antibiotic. The colonization characteristics in ginseng and its biocontrol efficiency against Alternaria spot of ginseng in the field were studied. The results showed that the strain could colonize in root, stem and leaf of ginseng and the colonization amount was positive correlated with inoculation concentration. Meanwhile, the strain could infect and then transfer in different tissues of ginseng The colonization amount of strain in roots and leaves of ginseng increased first and then decreased. However, the tendency of colonization amount of strain in stems was ascend at first and then descend slowly, and was more than that in roots and leaves along with time, which had a preference to specific tissue of its host. In field experiment, the endophytic bacteria NJ13 was proved to be effective in controlling Alternaria leaf spot of ginseng. The biocontrol efficiency of fermentation broth at the concentration of 0.76 x 10(8) cfu x mL(-1) reached 75.62%, which was close to the controlling level (73.06%) of 0.67 mg x L(-1) 50% cyprodinil WG.

An enantioselective method was developed for the separation and determination of three chiral hexabromocyclododecanes ( HBCDs ) including α-HBCD, β-HBCD, γ-HBCD in soil and earthworm by HPLC-ID-MS/MS. d18-HBCDs used as internal standards were added to the samples before extraction. HBCDs enantiomers were extracted from soil by accelerated solvent extraction ( ASE ) with n-hexane/DCM (1:1,V/V) at 100℃ and 10 MPa for 5 min, and further cleaned up using silica column. HBCDs enantiomers were extracted from earthworm by vortex turbulence with ethyl acetate. The extracts were orderly sulphonated by sulfuric acid, and purified by silica column. For all HBCDs enantiomers, good linearities were obtained in the concentration range of 0. 25-50 ng/mL. Limits of detection ( LOD) and limits of quantification ( LOQ) were 0. 00544-0. 00766 ng/g and 0. 0173-0. 0244 ng/g, respectively in soil. The recoveries of spiked samples at 0. 05 and 2. 5 ng/g levels were 80. 0%-95. 9% with relative standard deviations ( RSD, %) of 5. 7%-11. 9% in soil. Limits of detection (LOD) and limits of quantification (LOQ) were 0. 0103-0. 0148 ng/g and 0. 0328-0. 0471 ng/g, respectively in earthworm. The recoveries of spiked samples at 0. 1 and 5 ng/g levels were 78. 0% -94. 4% with relative standard deviations ( RSD, %) of 6. 1% -12. 2% in earthworm. This method can meet the requirements of determination of trace HBCDs in soil and earthworm.

Chinese Medical Journal 2013;126(14):2670-2675
BACKGROUNDVancomycin-resistant Enterococci (VRE) cause serious infections that are difficult to treat. We carried out this study to determine the mutant prevention concentration (MPC) of linezolid when combined with minocycline against VRE strains, to determine the mechanism of drug resistance in vitro, and to provide a theoretical basis for the rational use of drugs against VRE.
METHODSThe minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of linezolid and minocycline against 30 Enterococci (E.) isolates (including 20 VRE strains) were determined by the broth microdilution method. Drug interactions were assessed by the checkerboard microdilution tests and confirmed by time-kill studies. Two vancomycin-susceptible strains N27 and N40 (linezolid MIC, 2 g/ml; minocycline MIC, 4 µg/ml) and control strains E. faecalis ATCC 29212 and ATCC 51299 were also tested. The MPCs of linezolid and minocycline (alone and combined) were determined using the agar dilution method. Strains showing stable resistance were analyzed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification of domain V of the 23S rRNA gene.
RESULTSCheckerboard titration studies revealed synergistic effects of combination therapy in 26.7% of 30 E. isolates. Antagonism was not observed. The G2576U mutation was detected in stable linezolid-resistant strains of ATCC 29212, N40, and N27 before and after resistance screening, and MIC values increased with the number of G2576U mutations. The MPC of linezolid against E. decreased dramatically when combined with minocycline, and vice versa.
CONCLUSIONLinezolid or minocycline alone produce resistant strains; however, their joint use may reduce the MPC of each agent against VRE, thereby decreasing resistant mutants and bacterial infections.

Endophytic bacteria which was producing indoleacetic acid was screened from Panax ginseng by using the Salkowski method. The active strain was also tested for its ability of nitrogen fixation by using the Ashby agar plates, the PKV plates and quantitative analysis of Mo-Sb-Ascrobiology acid colorimetry was used to measure its ability of phosphate solubilization, for its ability of potassium solubilization the silicate medium and flame spectrophotometry was used, for its ability of producing siderophores the method detecting CAS was used, for its ability of producing ACC deaminase the Alpha ketone butyric acid method was applied. And the effect on promoting growth of seed by active strain was tested. The results showed that the indoleacetic acid producing strain of JJ5-2 was obtained from 118 endophytes, which the content of indoleacetic acid was 10.2 mg x L(-1). The JJ5-2 strain also had characteristics of phosphate and potassium solubilization, nitrogen fixation, producing siderophores traits, and the promoting germination of ginseng seeds. The JJ5-2 strain was identified as Bacillus thuringiensis by analyzing morphology, physiological and biochemical properties and 16S rRNA gene sequences.

Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong University(Medical Science) 2020;40(7):951-956
Objective: To investigate the effect of different suture reinforcement methods on anastomotic leakage (AL) after laparoscopic double stapled technique (DST). Methods: Data were collected from patients undergoing laparoscopic radical resection of colon-rectal cancer from July 2017 to September 2018 in the Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery, Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine (Shanghai Minimally Invasive Surgery Center). Patients were divided into 3 groups according to the different ways of suture reinforcement: intermittent suture reinforcement group (n=41), continuous suture reinforcement group (n=41) and non-reinforcement group (control group, n=41). The intraoperative and postoperative conditions of the three groups were compared. One-way ANOVA, χ2 test, Fisher's test and non-parametric test were used for statistical analysis. Results: A total of 124 patients were included in this study. There were no statistically significant differences in operation time, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative hospital stay, postoperative gastrointestinal exhaust time and postoperative fluid intake time of two experimental groups compared with control group. Nine subjects were clinically diagnosed with anastomotic leakage. The incidences of serious AL of intermittent suture reinforcement group and continuous suture reinforcement group were lower than that in the control group. The average length of stay in patients with AL in the intermittent suture reinforcement group was 31 (19-42) d, and the continuous suture reinforcement group was 41 (37-43) d, which were significantly lower when compared with the control group of 64 (54-74) d. In addition, the average treatment cost of the intermittent suture reinforcement group was (71 142.6±2 849.3) yuan, and the continuous suture reinforcement group was (71 360.1±2 072.3) yuan, which were significantly lower than the control group of (91 386.0±9 151.7) yuan. Conclusion: Laparoscopic DST using intermittent suture and continuous suture can reduce the incidence of serious AL, shorten the length of hospital stay and reduce the cost of treatment without increasing the difficulty of surgery and other postoperative complications.

OBJECTIVETo identify radiographic predictors of residual low back pain (LBP) after laminectomy for lumbar canal stenosis (LCS).
METHODSClinical results and radiographic findings in 69 patients who underwent single level laminectomy for LCS were retrospectively reviewed. Patients who had an improvement in LBP scores evaluated by Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA) scoring system during the follow-up periods were classified as the recovery group, and others were classified as the non-recovery group. Patients'clinical data and radiographic parameters like lordosis angle, range of motion and intervertebral rotational angle were analyzed using binary logistic regression analysis to detect factors significantly related with the occurrence of residual LBP.
RESULTSThe average preoperative JOA score of 14.8+/-5.05 improved to 21.59+/-5.51 at the final follow-up. Binary logistic regression analysis revealed that significant predictors of residual LBP were preoperative lumbar lordosis angle and range of motion.
CONCLUSIONSOur results suggest that patients with flat back and limited lumbar mobility before surgery tend to have poor results in terms of LBP. Therefore, these sagittal radiographic parameters should be taken into account when choosing laminectomy as the surgical option for LCS.

Chinese Journal of Stomatology 2006;41(7):411-415
OBJECTIVETo investigate the role of DNA methyltransferases (DNMT) in carcinogenesis and development of salivary adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) by detection the expression of DNMT in ACC and to assess its correlation to methylation of tumor suppressor genes and biological behavior of ACC.
METHODSThe protein expression of DNMT1 and DNMT3b were examined by immunohistochemistry in paraffin-embedded tissues of ACC from 60 patients. The association between the positive staining of DNMT1 and DNMT3b microscopically and the CpG islands methylation status of some tumor suppressor genes, tumor grade and stage was analysed by Fisher exact test.
RESULTSThe number of DNMT1 positive cells was much more than that of DNMT3b (P < 0.01). The positive expression of DNMT1 was increased concomitantly to the amounts of methylation of tumor suppressor genes occurred in ACC and was significantly correlated to the methylation status of RASSF1A (P < 0.01). A difference was found between the more and less methylation of tumor suppressor genes group (P < 0.05) The increased positive expression of DNMT1 correlated to the tumor grade (P < 0.05) and stage (P < 0.01). It was much more expressed in the lower grade or more advanced stage cases. The correlation between the expression of DNMT3b and the methylation of tumor suppressor genes, tumor grade and stage was not found.
CONCLUSIONSDNMT1 may play an important role in the maintenance of methylation of tumor suppressor genes in ACC and was related correlated to the methylation of RASSF1A, tumor grade and stage, which implied that DNMT1 may contribute to the carcinogenesis and development of ACC and was likely to be a molecular marker for evaluating the prognosis of patients with ACC.
