Rhynchosia volubilis Lour has been a major drug in a folk prescription for contraception in China, whereas its mechanism remains unknown. Its antifertility effects on male mice and antimicrobial activities on sexually transmitted infection (STI) pathogens were previously reported. This study was undertaken to develop the n-Butanol extract of Rhynchosia volubilis Lour (BERVL) as a spermicidal agent with STI prevention. The spermicidal activities of BERVL with different doses were assessed using selected high-motile sperms of normal human semen samples, and their inhibitory effects on Lactobacillus acidophilus were determined. The mechanism of the spermicidal activity was explored by aqueous Eosin Y and Hoechst 33342/PI staining. The results showed spermicidal activities and inhibitory effects of BERVL on Lactobacillus acidophilus were dose-dependent. Dose of 90 mg/mL BERVL terminated all progressive sperm motility within 2 min, and had slight inhibitory effect on Lactobacillus acidophilus, suggesting it was an effective and safe dose for contraception use. About 80% sperms exposed to BERVL displayed changes consistent with high permeability of head membrane. It is concluded that BERVL as spermicide has advantages over N-9 with strong ability to instantaneously kill human sperm and possesses light inhibitory effect on Lactobacillus acidophilus.

Objective To investigate the diffevential diagnostic value of preinvasive and invasive lung adenocarcinoma (including minimally invasive adenocarcinoma and invasive adenocarcinoma) presented as pure ground-glass nodules(pGGN) by CT.Methods One hundred and fifty-six cases of pGGN verified by operative pathology were retrospectively analyzed,including 58 ca ses of preinvasive adenocarcinoma and 98 cases of invasive adenocarcinoma(TNM staging were T1N0M0).The CT features and sex were statistically processed.The difference between the CT features and sex were performed by thex2 test.The ROC curve of lesion focus size was drawn.Results Statistically significant differences were found in the lesion shape,vacuole sign,air bronchogram,blood vessel through,tumor-lung interface and vascular cluster sign between the two groups(all P＜0.05).The ROC curve showed that the accuracy rate of invasive adenocarcinoma was 75.0％ when the size of the pGGN lesions was larger than 15.35 mm.Conclusion The lesion size,shape,vacuole sign,air bronchogram,blood vessels through and vascular cluster sign have some predictive value.

The emerging nano-black phosphorus materials have created a new platform for biomedical research. Nano-black phosphorus has the following advantages: black phosphorus can produce singlet oxygen under near-infrared light irradiation, so it can be used as a photosensitizer for photodynamic therapy;black phosphorus has extensive light absorption in the long wavelength region, and this near-infrared photothermal property can be used in photothermal therapy. The high specific surface area and unique fold structure of the black phosphorus nanosheet make it have very high drug loading.This paper mainly reviews the applications of black phosphorus in biological imaging, photothermal therapy, photodynamic therapy, and as a drug carrier in recent years. Based on the photoelectric properties of black phosphorus nanomaterials combined with intelligent drug delivery platform, the synergistic effects of light/heat/chemistry, light/chemistry/gene, and light/chemistry/immunity can be produced, which has a broad application prospect.

Objective To learn the relationship between chronic complications of type 2 diabetic and stroke incidence.Methods Based on the surveillance data of type 2 diabetes and stroke in Xiuzhou district of Jiaxing City from 2009 to 2014, using logistic regression model method to analysis the relationships between chronic complications of type 2 diabetic and stroke incidence.Results Among 6 108 participants, 462 subjects developed stroke (7.56%);479 (7.84%) diabetes patients were diagnosed with chronic complications simultaneously and 116 subjects developed stroke (24.21%), higher than those no chronic complications (6.15%, P<0.05).The proportion of diabetic vasculopathy, nephropathy, neuropathy, retinopathy and skin infection were 33.33%, 24.64%, 23.23%, 13.48% and 5.32%, respectively.After adjusted for gender, age, occupation, urban and rural, obesity, hypertension and hyperlipidemia, there were significant statistical correlations between vasculopathy, neuropathy and stroke, the OR values and 95%CI were 4.95(3.41-7.19) and 2.79(1.80-4.32);patients who combined with any one,two, three or more chronic complications were significantly associated with the onset of stroke when compared with those without chronic complication, the OR values were 1.28, 2.75 and 5.38, respectively.Conclusion Vasculopathy and neuropathy of type 2 diabetes patients which found at diagnosed were risk factors of stroke,and the more for type 2 diabetes patients combined with the chronic complications, the greater the risk of stroke.

Objective To construct practice ability index system of TCM prevention health major degree; To provide references for building of related postgraduate training mode. Methods Literature research and research group comments were comprehensively collected, to formulate practice ability index system of TCM prevention health major degree. Deplhi method was used to conduct two rounds of expert consultation to finalize the screening standard of practice index system and evaluate expert level of enthusiasm, authority degree and coordination degree. Results A total of 30 experts from top three hospitals in different regions and TCM colleges and universities attended the 2 rounds of consultation. Two rounds of effective questionnaires for recycling were 30 and 26 respectively. The effective recovery rates were 100.00% and 86.67%. After collecting, summarizing and analyzing the opinions of experts, a set of practical ability index system including 6 first-level indicators, 22 second-level indicators and 125 third-level indicators was constructed. Conclusion This study builds a reliable practice ability index system of TCM prevention health major degree.

Objective To evaluate the feasibility of quantitative analysis software for myocardial contrast echocardiography (MCE) in assessment of myocardial perfusion.Methods According to coronary occlusion and reperfusion at different times,rabbits were divided into two groups:15 min occlusion / 30 min reperfusion (group Ⅰ) and 120 min occlusion / 60 min reperfusion (group Ⅱ).MCE was performed on all rabbits at baseline,occlusion and after reperfusion,and its images were analyzed by a new quantitative analysis software based on eliminating particle swarm optimization (EPSO) clustering algorithm,by which obtain myocardial perfusion parameters.Results (1) The values of calibrated contrast intensity (CI) in risk segments of Groups Ⅰ and Ⅱ were significantly lower than those at baseline during occlusion (t =5.104 and t =4.327,P＜0.01).After reperfusion,calibrated CI in risk segments significantly improved in Group Ⅰ (t =2.933,P＜0.01) while those remained unchanged in Group Ⅱ (P＞0.05).(2) The areas of red-coded region in color-coded map and myocardial infarction in triphenyl-tetrazolium chloride (TTC) were (21.4±12.3)% and (18.0±9.5)%,respectively.The correlation between color-coded image and TTC was 0.89 (P＜0.01).(3) The histogram in all risk segments was skew distribution during occlusion.After reperfusion,the histogram in Group Ⅰ was normal distribution while that was still skewed distribution in Group Ⅱ.Conclusion The MCE image analysis software based on EPSO clustering algorithm in the quantitative assessment of myocardial microperfusion and identification of myocardial perfusion abnormalities was feasible and of high value.

Objective Midkine ( MK ) and nuclear factor-kappa B ( NF-kB ) play pivotal roles in tumorigenesis, which are considered as promising cancer biomarkers. The efficacy of MK and NF-kB as markers for diagnosis and prediction of synchronous metastasis in papillary thyroid cancer ( PTC ) was the aim of present investigation. Methods Seventy six cases of PTC and seventy cases of multi-nodular goiter ( MNG ) were retrieved. The PTC group was further divided into subgroup 1 (16 cases with synchronous metastasis) and subgroup 2 (60 cases without metastases). A retrospective review of clinical information, radiological examinations,131 I treatments and post-131 I-therapy scans were done. Immunohistochemistry of MK, NF-kB p65, and Ki-67 was performed on paraffin-embedded specimens and results were quantified. Diagnostic values of the parameters were conducted by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves. Diagnostic sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value were determined. Protein levels of MK and NF-kB p65 were then confirmed by Western blot. Results Immunoreactivities of MK and NF-kB p65, and positive percentage of Ki-67 were significantly higher in PTC group than in MNG group (all P<0. 01). ROC showed good differential diagnostic capabilities of all three parameters with diagnostic accuracies of 82. 192% , 80. 137% , and 84. 091%respectively. Moreover, all three parameters were significantly higher in subgroup 1 than those in subgroup 2 (all P<0. 01). ROC showed good predicting efficacies in synchronous metastasis of all three parameters with diagnostic accuracies of 82. 895% , 80. 263% , and 76. 316% respectively. By one-way analysis of variance, Western blot showed that MK and NF-kB p65 protein levels in lesions from subgroup 1 were significantly higher than those from subgroup 2, both were significantly higher than those in MNG lesions ( P<0. 01). Conclusion MK and NF-kB immunohistochemistry can potentially be used for differential diagnosis between PTC and MNG, and for prediction of synchronous metastases.

Thyroid cancer is the one of the most common endocrine tumors. The biological behaviors and prognoses of the thyroid cancer of different histological types remarkably differ. The highly invasive thyroid cancer responds poorly to traditional therapies. Recent research advances in the molecular mechanisms of the pathogenesis of thyroid cancer have revealed the roles of many genetic and epigenetic variations such as gene mutation, abnormal gene amplification, and abnormal gene methylation in the development of thyroid cancer, which provides new insights in the molecular diagnosis, prognosis, and target therapy of the thyroid cancer.
