Objective To investigate the protective effect of Qiweibaizhu Powder against HRV infection of intestinal mucosal epithelial cells of suckling mice.Methods The 5-day-old NIH mice were made HRV diarrhea model by oral infection,and randomly divided into six groups:normal group(NG),model group(MG),Qiweibaizhu Powder group(BG),ribavirin group(ZG),suckling mice in each group were instilled corresponding drugs 3 times/d(NG and MG with normal saline) through the mouth.5 d after treatment,suckling mice were killed,small intestine stool was taken to test HRV,and pathological changes in small intestinal mucosa were observed by HE staining.Results Intestinal faeces HRV clearance of BG was significantly better than MG(P

[Objective]To evaluate clinical results of videoassisted thoracoscopic anterior spine release combined with anterior or posterior correction of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis(AIS).[Method]Eleven cases of received video-assisted thoracoscopic anterior spine release followed by anterior or posterior instrumentation from July 2003 to December 2005 were reviewed.The average age at surgery was 14.6 years(ranged from 12 to 16 years).There were nine cases of Lenke type Ⅰ with average preoperative Cobb's angle of 59.7?(ranged from 54? to 68?),and two cases of Lenke type Ⅲ,with average preoperative Cobb's angle of 64.5?(ranged from 58?to 71?).The correction rate of thoracic curves in bending film averaged 26.4%(ranged from 21.8% to 32.4%).All 11 patients underwent release via endoscopic anterior resection of intervertebra disc through radiofrequency,and anterior or posterior correction.The coronal and sagittal Cobb's angle after surgery,and at follow-up were measured.The operative time,intraoperational blood loss,peri-operative complications and loss of carrection were analyzed.[Result]The average operation time was 4 hours and 50 min.The blood loss during surgery averaged 171 ml.The average number of released levels was 4.4(ranged from 5 to 7).The average postoperative Cobb's angle of 9 cases of Lenke type Ⅰ was 20.4? with curve correction rate of 65.5%.Postoperative Cobb's angles of 2 cases of Lenke type Ⅲ were 20? and 25?,the correction rate of thoracic curve averaged 65.1%.One patient developed thoracic effusion.The average follow-up period was 18.6 months,only one of them with loss correction of 14?.No neurologic or vascular complication occurred.[Conclusion]Compared to the open anterior surgery,video-assisted thoracoscopic anterior spinal release is a safe and effective treatment for idiopathic scoliosis.It can avoid complications incurred by traditional thoracic surgery.It has satisfactory clinical results compared to conventional thoracotomic release for AlS.

Objective To investigate the effect of corpectomy decompression by subtotal vertebrectomy and fusion of adjacent segmental artificial disc replacement through anterior intervertenral spance (Hybrid Surgery) in the anteriorcervical spondylotic myelopathy treatment . Methods Hybrid Surgery were operated on 18 patients who suffered from anterior cervi?cal spondylotic myelopathy . Follow up of 1-50 months. Patient’s conditions were assessed according to the Japanese Associ?ation for Department of orthopedics assessment score (JOA score) before and after operation. Effects of Hybrid operation were assessed by the improvement of JOA score, Odom’s follow-up grade and cervical mobility . Results The JOA scores of all 18 operated patients were improved from 10.6 ± 1.7 before operation to 13.5 ± 2.4 after operation. And the difference is statistically significant (t=1.314, P < 0.05). Among all the operated patients, 16 were cured and 2 were effective. As to Odom’s follow up grades, 6 cases were excellent, 11 cases were good and 1 case was acceptable. The postoperative move?ment range of cervical spine (40.1° ± 8.4°) show no statistically difference compared with that in preoperation (42.6° ± 11.9°) (t=0.68, P > 0.05). Conclusion Hybrid Surgery of anterior cervical decompression and fusion can both improve the nerve function and preserve cervical mobility.

Two parental strains BY-14 and BY-6,with high leavening ability in lean and sweet dough respectively,were selected.Through spore production and separation,two haploids with opposition types were selected for cross-breeding.At last one hybridization strain was obtained,with good fermentation ability as BY-14 in lean dough and better than BY-6 by 25%in sweet dough.

AIM:To evaluate the availability and our experience of intraoperative image-guidance in endoscopic nasocular operation.METHODS:Seven cases of endoscopic nasal surgery with intraoperative image-guidance were retropectively reviewed,including 3 cases of optic nerve injury;3 cases of foreign object of optic behind the eyeball;1 case of retrobulbar tumor(angeioma).RESULTS:The preoperative preparatory time would take 15 minutes,including coordination,head holder localization,conventional instrument registration.In our cases,the localization accuracy between 3-D image landmarks of navigation system and actual anatomical landmarks was less than 1.3mm.The optic nerve and other anatomical points could be orientated accurately in intraoperative procedures.No complication occurred.CONCLUSION:Nasal endoscope combined with imageguidance systems provides accurate anatomical localization of anterior skull base with enlarged operation field.It is possible for surgeons to observe important anatomical structures during endoscopic surgery.It could increase the effectiveness and decrease surgical complications,especially in complicated cases.

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effects of Astragalus polysaccharides on heart function and myocardial fibrosis in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) and corresponding mechanism. METHODS:50 SHR were randomly divided into a model group,a captopril tablets group (positive drug,30 mg/kg) and the groups of high,medium and low-dose (100,50,25 mg/kg) Astragalus polysaccharides,with 10 SHR in each group. Another 10 Wistar Kyoto rats were included into the normal group. The rats in the drug administration groups were given corresponding drugs ip,while those in the normal group and the model group were given isometric distilled water ip,once a day,for 12 consecutive weeks. The left ventricular systolic pressure (LVSP),left ventricular end diastolic pressure (LVEDP),left ventricular pressure rise rate (+dp/dtmax) and left ventricular pressure decline rate (-dp/dtmax) of the rats were recorded. The heart mass index (HMI) and left ventricular mass index (LVMI) thereof were deter-mined. The level of hydroxyproline and the mRNA and protein expression of transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1)and peroxi-some proliferator-activated receptor-γ(PPAR-γ)in the cardiac muscle tissue thereof were detected. RESULTS:Compared to the nor-mal group,the rats in the model group had lower LVSP,+dp/dtmax and-dp/dtmax,higher LVEDP,HMI and LVMI,as well as high-er levels of hydroxyproline and the mRNA and protein expression of TGF-β1 and lower level of the mRNA and protein expression of PPAR-γ in the cardiac muscle tissue (P<0.01). Compared to the model group,all the above-mentioned indexes of the rats in the group of high-dose Astragalus polysaccharides and the captopril tablets group were significantly improved (P<0.05 or P<0.01);except for LVEDP and the mRNA expression of PPAR-γ,all the above-mentioned indexes of the rats in the group of medi-um-dose Astragalus polysaccharides were significantly improved(P<0.05 or P<0.01);no statistically significant difference(P>0.05) in all the above-mentioned indexes was shown between the model group and the group of low-dose Astragalus polysaccha-rides,except that the-dp/dtmax of the latter was significantly higher and the level of the mRNA expression of TGF-β1 was obvious-ly lower (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS:Astragalus polysaccharide can improve heart function and myocardial fibrosis in SHR by a mechanism which may be related to downregulating the expression of TGF-β1 and upregulating the expression of PPAR-γin the car-diac muscle tissue.
