Objective To analyze and discuss the negative effects of atomization inhalation in mechanical ventilation patients in intensive care unit. Methods A retrospective study of all the mechanical ventilation patients in the general ICU of our hospital was carried out from Aprilto December 2015. The risk of multidrug-resistant organisms(MDROs)colonizationin the lower respiratory tract and ventilation associated pneumonia(VAP)in mechanical ventilation patients were analyzed. Results A total of 922 patients were monitored, 160 of whom had atomization inhalation, 92 for MDROs colonizationin the lower respiratory tract and 18 for VAP. The rates ofatomization inhalation in patients with and without MDROs colonizationin the lower respiratory tract were 30.4%(28/92)and 15.9%(132/830)with statistical difference (χ2=12.193, P=0.000). And those in patients with and without VAP were 50.0%(9/18) and 16.7%(151/904), with statistical difference (χ2=11.420, P=0.000). Atomization inhalation was the independent risk factor both of MDROs colonizationin the lower respiratory tract(OR=1.917, 95%CI1.163-3.159, P=0.011) and VAP(OR=4.613, 95%CI 1.773-12.002, P=0.000) in mechanical ventilation patients. Conclusions Atomization inhalation may increase the risk of MDROs colonizationin the lower respiratory tract and VAP in mechanical ventilation patients. Thus unnecessary and too frequent operations of atomization inhalation should be decreased.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the effect and mechanism of AngongNiuhuang Pill(AGNH) on neurological function and intestinal mucosal barrier in intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). METHODS Male CD-1 mice were randomly divided into sham, ICH, AGNH 0.1 g·kg-1, AGNH 0.2 g·kg-1, and AGNH 0.4 g·kg-1groups. The ICH mice models were prepared by intrastriatal injection with collage-nase using a stereotaxic frame.Garcia test was used to evaluate the neurological function of mice. The brain water content was measured with dry/wet weight method. The permeability of intestinal mucosa was detected by FITC-D method. H&E staining was used to observe the pathological changes of intestine. The content of endotoxin in blood and the expressions of ZO-1,occludin in intestinewere also investigated.RESULTS After AGNH administration, the neurological score of mice was increased, and the brain water content was decreased(P<0.01).AGNH attenuated the ICH-induced increase of perme-ability of intestinal mucosa(P<0.01).Treatment with AGNHnot only alleviated the pathological changes of the intestine but alsoreduced the endotoxin content in blood (P<0.01).The expressions of ZO-1, occludinin AGNH groups were significantly increased compared with that of ICH group (P<0.05). CONCLUSION AGNH improves the neurological dysfunction in ICH mice and the mechanism of action is implicated in protecting the intestinal mucosa.

OBJECTIVETo explore the expression of p-p38 MAPK protein and the number of astrocytes expressing p-p38 MAPK in CA1 hippocampus in rats during the induction of brain ischemic tolerance induced by intermittent hypobaric hypoxia (IH) preconditioning.
METHODSThirty healthy adult male Wistar rats were randomly divided into 6 groups (n = 5 in each group): sham 0 min group, IH + sham 0 min group, sham 7 d group, IH + sham 7 d group, Ischemia (Is) 7 d group, and IH + Is 7 d group. Neuropathological evaluation was performed by thionine staining in CA1 hippocampus in rats. The expression of p-p38 MAPK in CA1 hippocampus was observed by immunohistochemical staining. And the number of astrocytes expressing p-p38 MAPK was observed by immunofluorescent double labeling.
RESULTSThe results showed that IH preconditioning induced brain ischemic tolerance successfully. At the same time, IH preconditioning obviously up-regulated the expression of p-p38 MAPK protein in CA1 hippocampus, and also increased the number of astrocytes expressing p-p38 MAPK.
CONCLUSIONIt might be concluded that IH preconditioning induced brain ischemic tolerance by up-regulating the expression of p-p38 MAPK protein in pyramidal neurones and astrocytes.

Objective To explore the effects of isokinetic training on muscle endurance and the ambulatory capacity of patients with incomplete lumbar spinal cord injury ( SCI ) . Methods Sixty patients were randomly divided into a control group and a treatment group, each of 30. Both groups were given conventional rehabilitation, while the treatment group was additionally provided with isokinetic muscle strength and muscle endurance training for 3 months. The endurance ratio ( RO) of the quadriceps and hamstrings, the mean power frequency of the rectus femo-ris (RF-MPF) and the biceps flexor cruris (BF-MPF), and distance covered in the 6-minute walk test (6MWT) were evaluated before and after the treatment. An index of functional community ambulation was also compared be-tween the 2 groups. Results After the treatment significant differences were observed in all of the measurements compared to before the treatment for both groups. The average RO improvement of the quadriceps and hamstrings, the BF-MPF, the RF-MPF and the 6MWT distance of the treatment group were all significantly higher compared with the control group. After the treatment, 25 patients of the treatment group could demonstrate functional community ambula-tion, significantly better than that of 20 of the control group. Conclusion Isokinetic training can improve muscle endurance and the walking capacity of persons with an incomplete lumbar spinal cord injury.

A novel rapid method for detection of the illicit beta2-agonist additives in health foods and traditional Chinese patent medicines was developed with the desorption corona beam ionization mass spectrometry (DCBI-MS) technique. The DCBI conditions including temperature and sample volume were optimized according to the resulting mass spectra intensity. Matrix effect on 9 beta2-agonists additives was not significant in the proposed rapid determination procedure. All of the 9 target molecules were detected within 1 min. Quantification was achieved based on the typical fragment ion in MS2 spectra of each analyte. The method showed good linear coefficients in the range of 1-100 mg x L(-1) for all analytes. The relative deviation values were between 14.29% and 25.13%. Ten claimed antitussive and antiasthmatic health foods and traditional Chinese patent medicines from local pharmacies were analyzed. All of them were negative with the proposed DCBI-MS method. Without tedious sample pretreatments, the developed DCBI-MS is simple, rapid and sensitive for rapid qualification and semi-quantification of the illicit beta2-agonist additives in health foods and traditional Chinese patent medicines.
