Objective To study the recent effect of ovary dislocation during the operation of cervical squa- mous carcinoma with stageⅠon ovary function.Methods 12 cases with cervical squamous carcinoma of stageⅠwere treated with surgery.During the operation bilateral ovaries with blood vessels were dislocated the abdominal cavity over the umbilical line through postperitoneum and fixed on the postperitoneum.12 cases were hysterec- tomized simply as the control.The change of ovary function was observed in one year after the operation.Results The levels of FSH and E_2 were decreased in the dislocating group(P

Objective To estimate the cost of community medical aid programs for the urban poor in Shenyang, Chengdu, Xining and Yinchuan so as to provide the primary basis for improving the compensation mechanisms for such programs. Methods A survey was made on the cost consumption of six major categories in the course of health service delivery and the amount of various community health services actually delivered by the pilot community health service institutions in 2003. The cost of each service program was estimated and then the cost of medical aid programs for the urban poor was estimated. Results The per capita cost of the medical aid programs for the poor in the cities was less than 5 yuan and the total cost of the medical aid programs accounted mostly for 0.05‰ or so of the financial expenditure of each of the cities. Conclusion The government ought to make rational compensation for community medical aid programs, the cost of which is low. Setting up community health service based mechanisms of medical aid for the poor conforms to the actual condition of our country.

Descending nociceptive modulation from the supraspinal structures plays an important role in cancer-induced bone pain (CIBP). Rostral ventromedial medulla (RVM) is a critical component of descending nociceptive facilitation circuitry, but so far the mechanisms are poorly known. In this study, we investigated the role of RVM glial activation in the descending nociceptive facilitation circuitry in a CIBP rat model. CIBP rats showed significant activation of microglia and astrocytes, and also up-regulation of phosphorylated p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38 MAPK) and pro-inflammatory mediators released by glial cells (IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α and brain-derived neurotrophic factor) in the RVM. Stereotaxic microinjection of the glial inhibitors (minocycline and fluorocitrate) into CIBP rats' RVM could reverse the glial activation and significantly attenuate mechanical allodynia in a time-dependent manner. RVM microinjection of p38 MAPK inhibitor (SB203580) abolished the activation of microglia, reversed the associated up-regulation of pro-inflammatory mediators and significantly attenuated mechanical allodynia. Taken together, these results suggest that RVM glial activation is involved in the pathogenesis of CIBP. RVM microglial p38 MAPK signaling pathway is activated and leads to the release of downstream pro-inflammatory mediators, which contribute to the descending facilitation of CIBP.

Objective:To evaluate the feasibility and success rate of in-plane ultrasound-guided paravertebral block using laterally intercostal approach.Methods:In the study,27 patients undergoing elective thoracic surgery were selected to do paravertebral block preoperatively.The fifth intercostal space was scanned by ultrasound probe which was placed along the long axis of the rib and 8 cm lateral to the midline of the spine.The needle was advanced in increments aiming at the space between the internal and innermost intercostal muscles.Once the space between the muscles was achieved,20 mL of 0.5％ (mass fraction) ropivacaine was injected and a catheter was inserted.Whether the tip of catheter was in right place was evaluated by ultrasound image.The block dermatomes of cold sensation were recorded 10,20 and 30 min after the bolus drug was given.Then 0.2％ ropivacaine was infused with 6 mL/h via the catheter by an analgesia pump postoperatively.The block dermatomes of cold sensation and pain score were recorded 1,6,24 and 48 h postoperatively.Results:The first attempt success rate of catheteration was 81.48 ％ (22/27);the tips of catheter were proved in right places after the second or third attempt in 5 patients.The median numbers of the block dermatomes 10,20 and 30 min after the bolus drug was given were 2,3,4;the median numbers of block dermatomes were 5,5,5,4,and of pain score were 1,1,2,2 at 1,6,24,48 h postoperatively;no case of bilateral block,pneumothorax or vessel puncture occurred.Conclusion:Thoracic paravertebral block using laterally intercostal approach is feasible,which has high success rate of block and low rate of complications.

Objective To detect and analyze thyroid tumor by two-dimensional sonogram and Doppler parameter, and evaluate the value of high-frequency ultrasound in diagnosing thyroid benign and malignant tumors. Methods The ultrasonic images of 104 thyroid tumor from 80 patients with typical features were collected. Thyroid tumor was classified into benign and malignant nodules, based on the shape, border, or the rear wall echo, echo attenuation loss, internal echo, and microcalcifications in two-dimensional sonogram and systolic blood peak velocity (Vmax) and resistant index (RI) in Doppler examination. The expected results of high frequency ultrasound were compared with pathological results on consistency and error rate. Results Prediction of benign tumor by high frequency ultrasound was 66, and pathology 61, consistency rate of the two was 92.4%. Prediction of malignant lesions was 38, and pathological examination 32, consistency rate of the two was 84.2%. The total coincidence rate was 89.4%(93/104) and the error rate was 11.6%( 11/104). Conclusions The typical features of thyroid tumor on high-frequency ultrasound are helpful in diagnosis of benign or malignant nodules, which is valuable in guiding clinical treatment.

Objective To investigate the public's perception and attitudes on the development of nuclear power, assess their knowledge about nuclear power and radiation, and to build a database on the public's perception for the purpose of providing better public health service, associate technical support and give suggestions for decision-makers.Methods In total of 1 440 local residents who live within 30 kilometers of a proposed nuclear power were chosen for in-person interviews.Questionnaires comprised of 49 questions designed to assess the public's knowledge of radiation and nuclear power, their attitudes to the development of nuclear power, their evaluation of local government and their informational environment.ANOVA was used to compare the influence of different factors on cognitive level.Multivariate linear regression was used to analyze the main factors affecting the level of public awareness.Comparison among groups (respondents in this survey vs.other comparable surveys) was conducted using x2 test.Results Of the respondents, 29.7％ and 39.5％ of respondents knew about nuclear power and radiation, respectively, 24.2％ supported the construction of a nuclear power plant in their own area, which was lower than the average national support for construction of nuclear power plants (29.0％) (x2 =8.71 ,P ＜ 0.05).When queried about safety cncerns 36.8％ of respondents worried about the safety of nuclear power plant and 78.5％ of respondents were afraid of the damage to their health, while 34.1％ of respondents held the belief that the nuclear power plant could bring harmful effect even under normal operation.Regarding the informational environment, 90.0％ of the respondents could not or barely got access to knowledge on nuclear power plants, 71.1％ hoped to acquire the knowledge on nuclear power plants, 48.4％ hoped to acquire this knowledge by television programs, and 62.4％ mostly trusted information given by experts from universities or institutes.In comparison to other findings acquired in similar surveys on the Tianwan and Qinshan nuclear power plants before the Fukushima accident, the findings indicated that safety assessment of nuclear power plant were lower (x2 =20.49,56.96, P ＜ 0.05).Conclusions The public's knowledge level on nuclear power and radiation directly influenced their attitude on nuclear power.The related agencies should strengthen publicity and education in order to increase the public's knowledge on nuclear power and radiation.The communication platform between the related agencies and the public should be established.Active and continued risk communication should be carried out to increase public acceptance of nuclear power.

Objective To investigated cerebral structural connectivity and its relationship to neuroleptic-na?ve individuals with first episode early-onset schizophrenia using diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) which could demonstrate the white matter integrity . Methods We recruited subjects with first episode DSM-Ⅳearly-onset schizophrenia who had never been exposed to antipsychotic medication(n=19) and sex ,age-matched healthy volunteers (n= 19) .All subjects received DTI and structural magnetic resonance imaging scans .Voxel-based analysis was performed to investigate brain regions fractional anisotropy (FA) values .Results Statistics revealed that schizophrenia patients showed significant FA reduction in left inferior frontal gyrus ,left temporal gyrus ,left occipital lobe and right middle temporal gyrus as compared to healthy subjects .Conclusion Deficits of white matter integrity in widespread brain regions of the first episode neuroleptic-na?ve early-onset schizophrenia patients .The presence of white matter abnormalities in the early-onset patients is suggestive of being related to the etilology of schizophrenia .

Objective To investigate the evaluation of multimodality MR imaging on the transplantation of autologous marrow stromal cells transfected ex vivo by vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)gene in a porcine chronic ischemic heart disease model. Methods Pigs of chronic ischemic heart disease model were randomly divided into two groups: treatment with marrow stromal cells transfected ex vivo by VEGF(Group I,n=9) and treatment with adenovirus served as control(Group Ⅱ,n=7).Four weeks after therapy,ejection fraction,ischemic segment and infracted segment were detected by multimodality MR imaging.The percentage of infarction area,CM-DiI labeled cells on fluorescence microscopy,vessel density were detected on specimen. Objective To investigate the expression and the significance of toll-like receptor 3 (TLR-3)in placenta,tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)in maternal and cord blood of idiopathic fetal growth restriction(IFGR),and their correlation with the pathogenesis of symmetric and asymmetric IFGR.Methods From April 2008 to April 2009,42 primiparae of singleton pregnancy and their IFGR babies,who delivered at term through cesarean section, in the Third Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University were enrolled. All subjectects were divided into symmetric IFGR group (n=20) and asymmetric IFGR group (n =22). Another 42 non-IFGR pairs were randomly selected as the control group. The polink-2 plus polymerized horseradish peroxidase (HRP) immunohistochemical method and the enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) were applied to detect TLR-3 and TNF-α levels. Results (1) The expression of TLR-3 protein were observed in all maternal placenta of the three groups. TLR-3 essentially expressed in syncytiotrophoblasts and hofbouer cells in the symmetric IFGR and control group, but expressed mostly in hofbouer cells and less in syneytiotrophoblasts in the asymmetric IFGR group. (2) The expression of TLR-3 in the syncytiotrophoblasts of the symmetric and asymmetric IFGR group was significantly lower than in the control group (111±14 and 118±11 vs. 156 ± 9, P<0. 01). The number of TLR-3 positive in Hofbourer cell in the symmetric IFGR group was lower than the control group (8. 9±2. 8 vs 17.5±2. 8, P <0. 01 ), but the number in the asymmetric IFGR group was higher (23.8±3.7) compared with the control group (P <0. 01). (3) The TNF-α levels in the maternal and cord blood of the symmetric and the asymmetric group were higher than that of the control group [maternal : (90±10) μg/L and ( 86±11 ) μg/L vs. (73±9) μg/L;cord blood: (92±12) μg/L and (96±8) μg/L vs. (79±9) μg/L;P<0.01]. (4) Neither symmetric nor the asymmetric IFGR group showed any correlations between the maternal and cord blood levels of TNF-α (P>0. 05). (5) Significant correlation was found between the TNF-α level of the cord blood and TLR-3 expression in the placenta in both the symmetric and asymmetric IFGR group(P<0. 05),but no relationship was found between the maternal blood TNF-α level and TLR-3 expression in the placenta (P>0. 05). Conclusions The variantions of TLR-3 expression in placenta and the increased expression of TNF-α in cord blood are associated with the genesis IFGR. The reduced expression of TLR-3 may related to symmetric IFGR, while the increased TLR-3 level in hofbouer cells may lead to asymmetric IFGR.

This study compared the decoction's HPLC figures of the different processed rhizomes of Cibotium barometz including the raw, the sand-baked, the wined, the steamed and the salted, on the basis of which, with the sand-baked Drynaria fortunei decoction as the positive control group, comparingall groups' decoction, concentration of which was 104.2 g x L(-1), for 4 weeks, by their effects (s-TRAP and total scores of OPG, Ca, P, IL-6, TNF-alpha and IL-1) on retinoic acid induced male rats osteoporosis. The experiment results showed the sand-baked and the wined were better than the steamed, the salted and the raw;in the processing methods' selection, the sand-baked was a better heating method than the steamed and the rice wine was the better excipient than the salt. It provided a reference to explain the processing principle of rhizomes of C. barometz and work mechanism of anti-osteoporosis.
