Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (Medical Sciences) 2014;34(2):289-97
An evaluation scale of medical services quality was developed on the basis of "patients' experience". The questionnaires were developed by, among others, searching relevant literature, collecting well-established assessment scales, measuring patients' experience and satisfaction, brain-storming, literature analysis. Delphi method was adopted for expert consultation. Scale items were screened and revised. The key indexes were converted. Field surveys were conducted for testing the reliability and validity of the scale. Our modified evaluation scale for measuring medical services quality based on "patients' experience" included 6 dimensions (tangibility, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy and continuity), and 50 items. The novel scale based on "patients' experience" may better serve the purpose of assessing medical services quality.

Objective To evaluate laparoscopy assisted radio frequency ablation (LRFA) and percutaneous radiofrequency ablation ( PRFA ) for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma ( HCC ).Methods A total of 525 HCC patients were enrolled, including LRFA group of 78 cases with 106 tumor nodules, and PRFA group of 447 cases with 565 tumor nodules. Results ( 1 ) In LRFA group complete ablation rate was 97.17% (103/106); in LRFA group complete ablation rate was 93.09% (526/565)(x2 =2.523,P =0.112).(2)The 1,3,5 year overall survival rate was 96.15%,55.12% and 38.46%in LRFA group and 93.73%,48.54% and 31.54% in PRFA group respectively ( x2 =0.699,1.151,1.447 ; P =0.403,0.283,0.229 ).The 1,3,5 year disease-free survival rate was 94.87%,43.58% and 28.21% in LRFA group and 93.73%,48.54% and 31.54% in PRFA group respectively (x2 =0.915,0.303,0.174; P=0.339,0.582,0.676).The average disease-free survival time was 22.25 months in LRFA group and 21.53 months in PRFA group respectively.(3)The serious complications was 0% (0/78)in LRFA group and 1.34% ( 6/447 ) in PRFA group respectively.( 4 ) Recurrence rate was 23.07%(18/78) in LRFA group, and 34.89% (156/447) in PRFA group ( x2 =4.189,P =0.041 ).Conclusions The therapeutical effect of LRFA equals that of PRFA,while enjoying lower recurrence rate,no serious complications and higher treatment safety.
5.Progress in structure and CO2-concentrating mechanism of carboxysomes.
Chinese Journal of Biotechnology 2014;30(8):1164-1171
Carboxysomes are extremely efficient microcompartments committed to CO2 fixation due to tailored CO2-concentrating mechanism (CCM). In cyanobacteria and some chemoautotrophs, carboxysomes as organelle-like microbodies encapsulate ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase (RuBisCO) and carbonic anhydrase (CA). Together with active inorganic carbon uptake transporters, carboxysomes accumulate HCO3(-) in the cytoplasm, leading to high efficiency of carbon fixation. Based on the elucidation of structures and functionalities, heterologous production of carboxysomes has been achieved so far. In fact, the genes encoding either vacant carboxysome shell or only interior components have been characterized. This review summarizes the discovery along with types, showcases molecular structures and roles of carboxysomes in CCM, and presents their broad applications in metabolic engineering.

6.Analysis of clinical factors for pathological complete response after preoperative neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy for rectal cancer
Chinese Journal of Radiation Oncology 2014;23(1):5-8
Objective To evaluate the clinical factors associated with pathological complete response (pCR) after preoperative neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy for rectal cancer. Methods A retrospective analysis was performed on the clinical data of 116 patients with rectal cancer, who underwent neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy followed by radical surgery from January 2009 to December 2012.All patients received pelvic intensity-modulated radiotherapy (50 Gy/25 fractions) with concurrent fluorouracilbased chemotherapy and then underwent radical surgery 4-8 weeks later. The clinical factors associated with pCR or non-pCR were analyzed by Logistic regression. Results Of the 116 patients,20 (17.2%) achieved a pCR after neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy. The univariate analysis showed that percentage of circumference of the rectal tube invaded by the tumor, preoperative serum carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) level,T stage,N stage, distance from the anal verge, degree of tumor differentiation, and maximum tumor diameter were associated with pCR or non-pCR after neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy for rectal cancer. The multivariate analysis revealed that percentage of circumference of the rectal tube invaded by the tumor, preoperative serum CEA level, and T stage were predictive factors for pCR or non-pCR after neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy for rectal cancer. Conclusions Non-circumferential tumor (percentage of circumference of the rectal tube invaded by the tumor < 75 %),low CEA level, and early T stage before treatment may be associated with pCR after neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy for rectal cancer.
8.Relationship between the cervical vertebra sickness with partial upper limb edema and the operation to reduce the cervical vertebra pressure
Orthopedic Journal of China 2006;0(15):-
[Objective]To discuss the relationship between partial upper limb edema in the cervical spondylosis patients and the decompression operation.[Method]Ten cervical spondylosis cases with partial upper limb edema were reviewed, including 7 cases of cervical spondylotic myelopathy,2 cases of cervical radiculopathy and 1 case of OPLL(ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament).Seven cases were treated with subtotal vertebrectomy and anterior internal fixation, one with subtotal vertebrectomy and anterior discectomy,2 cases with posterior decompression and fusion. All the patients were available for follow-up to evaluate the decay of the edema.[Result]All the 10 patients' edema disappeared with the duration from one day to over half a year. The treatment of anterior surgery made patients' edema disappear quicker than that of posterior surgery.[Conclusion]The occurrence of the upper limb edema in the cervical spondylosis patients is related to do with the irritated sympathetic nerve. The edema can be reduced in short term after the decompression operation.
