Objective To explore the relationship between the levels of leptin and leptin receptor in placental and intrauterine growth retardation.Methods Eighty seven newborns were studied .Auxological data(birth weight, length and biceps, triceps, subscapular and iliac skinfold thickness) were obtained and recorded.According to birth weight ,the subjects were divided into :the small for gestational age(SGA)group and the appropriate for gestational age (AGA) group.The levels of leptin and leptin receptor mRNA in 87 placental tissue were assayed by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR).Results 1. Objective To retrospectively review the experience of anesthesia for aortic valve insufficiency complicated with extremely dilated left ventricle.Methods The patients were premedieated with morphine 10 mg and scopolamine 0.3 mg IM.Anesthesia was induced with etomidate 0.1-0.2 ms/ks.sufentanil 1μ/kg and pipecuronium 0.1 mg/kg.After the patients were intubated,anesthesia wag maintained beween 1.0%and 1.5% isoflurane and intermittent Ⅳ boluses of sufentanil and pipecuronium.ECG,direct BP,SpO2,PET CO2,CVP and body temperature were monitored during anesthesia.Result All patients Were rehabilitated without ventricular fibrillation and arrhythmia.Conlusions Measures are taken before the surgery to maintain preload,increase heart rate,reduce afterload moderately and maintain myocardial contractility.After the surgery,maintenance of preload is helpful for ensuring adequate forward flow and benefcial to patients using dopamine and nitrolycerin.

Objective To explore the expression of Survivin and MHC in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and their interaction.Methods A total of 40 patients with histologically diagnosed NSCLC were enrolled in this study.Control samples were consisted of normal lung tissues from 15 patients.Expression of Survivin and MHC were detected by flow cytometry in 40 non-small cell lung cancer tissues and 15 normal lung tissues.Results The positive rates of Survivin protein expression in NSCLC tissues classified stages Ⅰ,Ⅱ and Ⅲ were 28.57% ,30.77% and 80.00% respectively.There was a correlation between Survivin protein expres-sion and stages of NSCLC.Survivin protein expression was detected in 19 of 29 patients with lymph node metas-tasis, and 3 of 11 patients with no metastasis.There was a statistically significant difference between the two groups (P<0.030).The loss expression rates of MHC-Ⅰ in NSCLC tissues of low grade,intermediate grade and high grade were 84.62% ,42.10% and 37.50% respectively.There was a correlation in expression be-tween MHC-Ⅰ and tumor grade.The positive rates of MHC-Ⅱ expression in NSCLC tissues was related to pa-thology type (P=0.005).The expression in squamous cancer and non-squamous non-adno cancer was lower than that of adenocarcinoma (P=0.002, P=0.04).There was no obvious correlation between the expression of Survivin and MHC-Ⅰ,MHC-Ⅱ in NSCLC.Conclution The expression of Survivin and MHC could be in-volved in the pathogenesis and development of NSCLC, and the combined detection will predict the prognosis of the patients with NSCLC.

Objective:To investigate the role of phosphatase and tensin homolog deleted on chromosome 10 (PTEN) in regulating proliferation of airway smooth muscle cells in ovalbumin(OVA)-induced asthma rats. Methods：Male Wistar rats (n=16) were randomized into OVA-induced asthma group and control group(8 rats each). The histomorphological changes of bronchia and lung tissues were observed by H-E staining. The expressions of proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA) and PTEN were assayed by immunohistochemistry. Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) was carried out to determine the changes in the expression of PTEN mRNA. Results: The typical pathological features of asthma were revealed in the OVA-exposed rats including numerous inflammatory cells infiltrated around the bronchia and in the lung tissues, the thickened airway smooth muscle and the narrowed airway. The levels of PCNA were distinctly increased in OVA-induced asthma group than that of control（P < 0.05），while the levels of PTEN and PTEN mRNA were significantly decreased in lung tissues of OVA-exposed rats（P < 0.05）. Conclusion：The gene inactivation of PTEN may play a pivotal role in proliferation of airway smooth muscle cells in asthma rats, and the most probable mechanism is associated with the functions of PI3K signaling pathway.

Objective:To determine the microvessel density (MVD) in laryngeal carcinoma and its clinical significance.Method:Thirty-eight tumor specimens were selected from laryngeal cancer patients from January,1994 to March,1996.Histological sections of the tumors were stained immunohistochemically for factor Ⅷ.Using light microscopy,we counted microvessels per 400×field in the most active areas of tumor angiogenesis.Result:①The tumor blood vessels,composed of only one layer of endothelium were mainly distrbuted heterogenously in the interstitial tissue of laryngeal carcinoma with irregular lumen,poorly developed structure.②The MVD in the cancer tissues were statistically higher than that in peritumoral tissues (P＜0.01).③The MVD in the cancer tissues in group of patients with metastasis to cervical lymphonodes were statistically higher than in group without metastasis (P＜0.01),the MVD in the cancer tissues in group of advanced cases (Ⅲ,Ⅳ stages) were statistically higher than that in group of early cases (Ⅰ,Ⅱ stages,P＜0.01).④There was no statistically difference in MVD in the cancer tissue between supraglottic and glottic laryngeal carcinoma patients (P＞0.05).⑤There was no statistically difference in MVD in the cancer tissue among the G1,G2 and G3 group (P＞0.05).Conclusion:The laryngeal cancer blood vessels have some characteristics that don′t appear in normal vessels.It is suggested that tumor angiogenesis can promote tumor growth and metastasis and MVD may be a new prognostic indicator of laryngeal carcinoma.

Purpose To analyze the high-frequency sonographic images of lymph nodes in mesenteric lymphadenitis of different ages. Materials and Methods 139 children with mesenteric lymphadenitis (study group) and 60 normal children (control group) were divided into 1 to 5 years, 6 to 10 years and 11 to 15 years group, the characteristics of high-frequency ultrasound sonographic images were analyzed, accuracy of longitudinal diameter (L), transverse diameter (S), aspect ratio (L/S) and color Doppler blood flow signal classification for the prediction of mesenteric lymph nodes swelling were evaluated using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. Results Mesenteric lymph nodes in the control group appeared as spindle shape with sparse blood flow signals, L, and L/S increased with age increasing (F=4.047, 9.586;P<0.05). Mesenteric lymph nodes in the study group displayed as oval or teardrop-shaped with rich blood flow signals, L, S and L/S did not change significantly with age increasing (F=0.184, 1.084, 2.083; P>0.05). Compared with the control group, blood flow signals were more abundant in all age groups of the study group, L and S were also significantly higher (L:t=-13.798,-12.813,-8.089;S:t= -8.212,-13.172,-9.606, P<0.01), only in the 1 to 5 years group statistically significant difference (t=-3.208, P<0.05) was showed between the two groups. From 1 to 5 years, the sensitivity and specificity for the judgment of lymph node swelling were 95.56%and 100.00%, respectively when using L=9.85 mm as a standard;from 6 to 10 years, the sensitivity and specificity for the judgment of lymph node swelling were 95.59%and 100.00%, respectively when using L=10.25 mm as a standard;from 11 to 15 years, the sensitivity and specificity for the judgment of lymph node swelling were 92.31%and 100.00%, respectively when using S=4.40 mm as a standard. Conclusion High-frequency ultrasound is able to display the location distribution and morphological characteristics of the mesenteric lymph nodes in children, and also to accurately measure the diameters and flow signal distribution of the lymph nodes, thus will provide valuable evidence for the diagnosis of pediatric mesenteric lymphadenitis.
