AIM: To discuss the effects of preoperative vitreous cavity injection of ranibizumab on 25G minimally invasive vitreoretinal surgery (VRS) in patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy(PDR).METHODS: From February 2013 to December 2015,74 patients with PDR received VRS (82 eyes) were retrospectively analyzed.Patients were divided into VRS + IVR group and VRS group according to preoperative VRS treatment.VRS+IVR group: preoperative injection of ranibizumab (10mg / mL) at 3-5d before operation;VRS group: VRS only.We recorded VRS operation time, filling situation, iatrogenic retinal hole and so on.RESULTS: The operation time and coagulation times of VRS+IVR group were significantly lower than VRS group. The two groups in operation time and coagulation times were statistically significant (all P<0.05).In the VRS+IVR group, the number of cases of iatrogenic retinal hole and the use of silicone oil were lower than those of VRS group, the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P<0.05).While the use number of C3F8 and perfusion fluid were not statistically significant (P>0.05).In VRS-IVR group within 3mo after operation,4 eyes appeared to vitreous body hematocele,VRS group was 13 eyes, the difference was statistically significant (x2=4.966,P<0.05).CONCLUSION: PDR patients with 25G minimally invasive VRS with preoperative therapy can reduce postoperative ocular bleeding, rate of retinal injury and silicone oil filling, shorten the operation time, the incidence rate and improve the success rate of surgery and reduce eye bleeding, postoperative complications such as adhesion.

Chinese Medical Equipment Journal 2015;(9):138-140
The necessity to apply medical devices properly was introduced, and the present situation of the application of hospital medical devices were discussed from the aspects of overuse, abuse, operation and supervision. Some countermeasures were put forward to solve the problems in the application of hospital medical devices. It's pointed out that the application of hospital medical devices tends to be standardized with the progress of medical reformation, the attention on medical devices management, the supervision and etc.

Objective To investigate clinical significance of computed tomography (CT) scan in diagnosis of bronchial foreign body in children. Methods Twenty-one suspected children with bronchial foreign body were studied with spiral CT cross-section scan and coronal reconstruction and diagnosis was confirmed with bronchoscopy. Results The foreign body was displayed in all of 21 cases. CT scan showed foreign body was located in right main bronchial 12 cases, right middle bronchial 1 case, right inferior lobar bronchial 2 cases and left main bronchial 6 cases. Foreign bodies were extracted with bronchoscopy. Conclusion CT scan can display and locate accurately foreign body in bronchial of children, and has very important diagnostic value in patients having atypical histories, clinical and radiological findings.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the association between cervical curvature and cervical sympathetic symptoms.
METHODSThe clinical data of 318 patients with cervical spondylosis who underwent surgical treatment in our department between July 2003 and December 2007 were retrospectively analyzed. All patients were divided into group without sympathetic symptoms (n = 284) and group with sympathetic symptoms (n = 34) . The curvatures of both groups on cervical lateral radiographs were measured using Borden method and statistical analysis was performed.
RESULTSThe incidence of abnormal cervical curvature in group with cervical sympathetic symptoms were 67.6% (23/34), which was significantly higher than that in group without cervical sympathetic symptoms (50.7%, 144/284) (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONCervical curvature abnormality may be an independent factor that affects the cervical sympathetic symptoms.

Breviscapine, a flavone glucuronide, is a cardiovascular medicine extracted from a Chinese herb Erigeron breviscapinus. Modern pharmacological research shows breviscapine has a therapeutic effect on cardiovascular diseases such as cerebral thrombus, cerebral ischemia hemiparesis and platelet aggregation et al. However, its poor water solubility and low bioavailability in vivo severely restrict the clinical application. In this article, we reviewed the marketing preparations of breviscapine and its research progress on the new dosage forms.

The tandem expression vector can effectively increase the expression level and structure stability of the target peptides(protein)with small size of molecular, and avoid toxicity towards host cell from some toxic peptides product, therefore, this approach is widely applied in biotechnology. The four construction methods of tandem expression plasmid including asymmetric and complementary cohesive ends, directional adapter, isocaudarners, and tandem expression cassette were reviewed in terms of protocol, characteristic and applicable field. In addition, selection principles from various construction methods of tandem plasmid were reviewed in terms of efficiency, accuracy and product cleavage.

Objective To improve our understanding concerning radiographic manifestations of cryptogenic organizing pneumonia(COP).Methods The diagnosis of cryptogenie organizing pneumonia was made based on clinical and radiological features, and was verified with lung biopsy and pathological examination in 23 eases. All data were analyzed and relevant literatures were reviewed. Results CT scans revealed multi-patch shadows, patchy air-space consolidations in 15 cases, often located in predominantly subpleural and(or)both inferior lungs, with or ground-glass opacities, bronehieetasis, and cords.Lesion sites changed over time in some patients.Cortieosteroid treatment led to significant improvement in most cases. Conclusions The diagnosis of cryptogenic organizing pneumonia required the converging evidence from clinical and radilogieal manifestations as well as pathologies. It is important to appreciate CT manifestations of COP.

Objective The aim of this study was to investigate the characteristic of regional cerebral glucose metabolism in patients with Wilson's disease (WD) using 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) PET.Methods Thirteen WD patients and 12 normal controls were studied by brain 18F-FDG PET, and the data were analyzed by visual analysis, semi-quantification and statistical parametric mapping (SPM). The radioactivity ratios of lenticular nuclei, caudate, thalamus and cerebellum to cerebral cortex and the ratio of lenticular nuclei to caudate were calculated, respectively. SPSS 11.0 software for statistics was also used to analyze the data. Results In WD patients, radioactivity of lenticular nuclei and candate was significantly decreased compared with controls. The radioactivity ratios of lenticular nuclei and caudate to cerebral cortex in WD patients were both significantly lower than that in normal controls (0.95±0.05 vs 1.26±0.05, t =15, P < 0.05 ; 1.02±0.06 vs 1.17±0.05, t = 8, P < 0.05), and the ratio of lenticular nuclei to caudate in WD patients was significantly higher than that in normal controls (0.93±0.06 vs 1.09±0.06, t =9, P< 0.05). Conclusion As compared with normal controls, patients with WD had significantly decreased glucose utilization in the basal ganglia, especially in the lenticullar nuclei.
