1.Role of some risk factors for diabetic incidence in Ha Tay province

5,153 people who were 15 years old or more were surveyed to determine the diabetic incidence in Ha Tay province. Out of these, it was identified 77 diabetic cases that distributed in 4 districts and 2 towns. The people with high lipid consumption are 2.67 times more likely to have diabetes than the people with normal lipid consumption. The people with high alcohol consumption are 2.04 times higher in risk of diabetes. Obese people are 8.6 times higher in risk. 24/77 diabetics have hypertension. 8/77 cases have the children who had birth weigh was more than 4kg. People with family history of diabetes are 19.5 times higher in risk of diabetes.

2.Some characteristics of diabetic epidemiology in Ha Tay province

A three step cross-sectional analysis was realized on 5,153 above 15-year-old patients (2,311 male and 2,842 female), who enrolled at randomly from 6 districts and towns of Ha Tay province. Conclusion is as follows: Diabetes prevalence 1.490.33% (male 1.64%0.43%; female 1.370.54%). Glucose intolerance disturbance rate was 2.15%. 80.5% of total number of patients was detected by screening survey.

3.Role of Recepteur D'origine Nantais on Gastric Cancer Development and Progression

Recepteur d'origine nantais (RON) is a receptor tyrosine kinase belonging to the subfamily of which c-MET is the prototype. Large epidemiologic studies have confirmed the strong association between RON and gastric cancer development. Constitutive activation of RON signaling directly correlates with tumorigenic phenotypes of gastric cancer and a poor survival rate in advanced gastric cancer patients. In this review, we focus on recent evidence of the aberrant expression and activation of RON in gastric cancer tumors and provide insights into the mechanism of RON signaling associated with gastric cancer progression and metastasis. Current therapeutics against RON in gastric cancer are summarized.

Objective:
The purpose of this survey was to estimate the prevalence of viral load (VL) suppression and emergence of HIV drug resistance (HIVDR) among individuals receiving antiretroviral therapy (ART) for 36 months or longer in Viet Nam using a nationally representative sampling method.
Methods:
The survey was conducted between May and August 2014 using a two-stage cluster design. Sixteen ART clinics were selected using probability proportional to proxy size sampling, and patients receiving ART for at least 36 months were consecutively enrolled. Epidemiological information and blood specimens were collected for HIV-1 VL and HIVDR testing; HIVDR was defined by the Stanford University HIVDR algorithm.
Results:
Overall, 365 eligible individuals were recruited with a mean age of 38.2 years; 68.4% were men. The mean time on ART was 75.5 months (95% confidence interval [CI]: 69.0–81.9 months), and 93.7% of the patients were receiving non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor-based regimens. Of the 365 individuals, 345 (94.7%, 95% CI: 64.1–99.4%) had VL below 1000 copies/mL and 19 (4.6%, 95% CI: 2.8-–7.5) had HIVDR mutations.
Discussion
Our nationally representative survey found a high level of VL suppression and a low prevalence of HIVDR among individuals who received ART for at least 36 months in Viet Nam. Continued surveillance for HIVDR is important for evaluating and improving HIV programs.
5.Tetanus toxin fragment C fused to flagellin makes a potent mucosal vaccine.

PURPOSE: Recombinant subunit vaccines provide safe and targeted protection against microbial infections. However, the protective efficacy of recombinant subunit vaccines tends to be less potent than the whole cell vaccines, especially when they are administered through mucosal routes. We have reported that a bacterial flagellin has strong mucosal adjuvant activity to induce protective immune responses. In this study, we tested whether FlaB could be used as a fusion partner of subunit vaccine for tetanus. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We constructed fusion proteins consisted with tetanus toxin fragment C (TTFC), the nontoxic C-terminal portion of tetanus toxin, and a Toll-like receptor 5 agonist from Vibrio vulnificus (FlaB). Mice were intranasally administered with fusion protein and protective immune responses of the vaccinated mice were analyzed. RESULTS: FlaB-TTFC recombinant protein induced strong tetanus-specific antibody responses in both systemic and mucosal compartments and prolonged the survival of mice after challenge with a supra-lethal dose of tetanus toxin. CONCLUSION: This study establishes FlaB as a successful fusion partner for recombinant subunit tetanus vaccine applicable through mucosal route, and it further endorses our previous observations that FlaB could be a stable adjuvant partner for mucosal vaccines.
