1.Some epidemic factors and the characteristics of media otitis in Phu Vang district, Thua Thien Hue province
Journal of Practical Medicine 2003;445(3):61-64
4189 persons in Phu Vang – Hue were enrolled in an inquiry on health and morbidity. Results showed that ear diseases account for 6.1%, among them media otitis trended to increase with children age; deaf and dumb 0.2%, dull 0.1%. In the right ear and left ear the incidence of media otitis was similar. Hearing capacity was less sensitive if it has media otitis of both sides. In children, extern otitis was preponderant, while in adult the main problems were buzzed ear, hearing loss, drum membrane perforation, mainly in the centre, then in ¼ infero anterior and ¼ posterioinferior, chronic media otitis 97.75%, acute 2.25%. About ¾ cases of media otitis lost hearing capacity, 28.5% had not been treated, 31.1% treated in commune health station, 25% in private physician office, 25.2% self treated at home, 18.7% in district and provincial hospital. In > 3 children family group, 81.6% and in > 5 children family group, 46.2% had media otitis

2.Comparison of pharyngolaryngeal diseases among pediatric inpatient in Hue central Hospital Vietnam and Aue Hospital, West Germany
Journal of Practical Medicine 2002;435(11):51-54
A comparison study was carried out on 1,242 medical records of pharyngolaryngeal disease among pediatric inpatients with ages of 1 -15 in Hue Central Hospital and 2852 medical records of pharyngolaryngeal diseases among pediatric inpatients with the same ages in Aue hospital, West Germany. Results showed that the pharyngolaryngeal diseases were leading diseases among diseases of ear, nose and pharynx in both hospitals. The rate of these diseases treated by operation in Aue hospital was higher than this in Hue hospital. There was difference of the morbidity rate between age groups. The rate of treatment of infection disease and infections complication in Hue hospital was higher than this in Aue hospital. The Aue hospital considered in prophylactic operation, diagnosis and rehabitation better than Hue hospital. There was no death in Aue hospital while there were 6 deaths in Hue hospital.

4.A survey on the implement of the regulations about periodical health examination and screening of occupational diseases for the manufacturing workers
Journal of Practical Medicine 2004;481(6):33-36
4 groups of subjects including 1.590 workers with occupational diseases and exposed to the risks. 175 managers, 153 health workers, 32 officals of the Labor – Invalide – Social services, social insurance in 37 factories in 7 provinces/cities: Thai Nguyen, Quang Ninh, Hanoi, Nam Dinh, Nghe An, Hue and HoChiMinh city, were enrolled into study performed from September 2001 to June 2002. The study had showed a rate of 93.8% exposed subjects underwent regular health examination of low quality. The result table delayed < 2 weeks with the cost of 35.000 VND for each subjects. In > 71.5% of fatories, occupational health examinations were conducted. The prevalence of pneumoconiosis was 94% and the cost of consultation 83.000 VND for each. There was a rather good realization of the regime of health care allowance and subsidy.

5.Study on elaboration of method for evaluation of chitosan content in product of Pokysan demic cream
Pharmaceutical Journal 2003;325(5):24-25
One method to determine the content of chitosan present in Pokysan cream has been developed. Chitosan was separated from Pokysan by dissolving the cream in acidic solution, extracted by chemical mixtures of I and II, which were prepared by laboratory of polymers in medico – pharmacy, and then collecting the precipitate of chitosan in the alkaline medium. This precipitate was then qualified by Lugol reagent and IR spectra. Collected chitosan precipitate was also qualified and quantified. These results proved that chitosan has been included in Pokysan cream and our method is confident

Journal of Practical Medicine 2005;0(12):56-58
From 2000-2004, the authors examined medicament were imported and delivered in Lao Cai province to investigate quality of them. Results showed that: the rate of bad quality medicament was 4.9%, among which the rate of injection drugs was higher than tablet drugs. The domestic medicament had a bad quality was higher than imported medicament (5.3% vs. 3.2%, respectively). The bad quality rates of vitamins and tonic drugs were the highest (6.7%), antibiotics 2.6%. This rate in the mountain and rural areas was higher than that in the city.

10.A method for determination of trace content of protein in material of chitin/chitosan
Pharmaceutical Journal 2002;319(11):23-24
Protein trace present in chitin/chitosan product has been determined by our proposed method in which protein trace included in chitin/chitosan was extracted by refraction in 10% NaOH solution at 100oC for 5 hours. Chitin/Chitosan precipitate was discarded. protein trace in the solution was restored by neutralizing with HCl 10N to get the yellow powder. This powder was then analyzed for total nitrogen content by Kjeldahl method. The control method was conducted at the same procedure excepted from the presence of 10% NaOH. The results of different chitin/chitosan samples obtained from these two methods showed that amount of protein trace obtained from above proposed method was somewhat higher than that of the control one. Besides, the purified chitosan sample gave the lower protein trace content than that of the technical chitosan sample as well as chitin one. Protein trace bound between macromolecules of chitin/chitosan was separated in the proposed method by boiling water under alkaline condition whereas it was not completely separated in the control method because sodium hydroxide was absent.
