1.Isolation of Flavonoids from Excoecaria cochinchinensis Lour. var. cochinchinensis
Journal of Medicinal Materials - Hanoi 2003;8(4):103-107
The remedy Excoecaria cochinchinensis Lour. var. cochinchinensis (Euphorbiaceae) has been commonly used in folk medicine for the treatment of itches, furuncles, allergies. Previous reports have examined the chemical composition of the leaves, two compounds have been isolated and identified as gallic acid (FAD1) and ellagic acid (FAD 2). This study was carried out for the isolation and identification of the other chemical constituents. The leaves of E. cochinchinensis Lour. var. cochinchinensis were collected at Ha Noi city and Thai Binh province. The ethyl acetate extract of the leaves were successively chromatographed on silica gel G 60 and Sephadex LH-20 columns to afford two compounds named FAD 7 and FAD 8. The spectral analysis performed on EIMS, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR has identified FAD7 as kaempferol 7-0-glycoside, and FAD 8 as kaempferol. These two flavonols were isolated from the leaves of the plant for the first time.

2.Influence of the iodized salt program in community on the determination of thyroid gland function by using radioimmunoassay and immunometric assay
Journal of Preventive Medicine 2002;12(1):36-40
The study was conducted on 82 simple goiter patients and 91 Basedow patients after at least one year using iodized salt daily. The results showed that the uptake of radioactive iodine (RAIU) by the thyroid gland of simple goiter and Basedow patients decreased after 2 and 24 hours taking an oral dose of radioactive iodine. Especially, the decrease was 40-50% in simple goiter patients. The concentration of T3, T4, TSH in the sera was as following: in the simple goiter patients, the concentrations of T3 and TSH were slightly decreased, and the T4 serum concentration was increased. However, all the values were still within the normal range of euthyroidism. In Basedow patients, the concentrations of T3, T4, and TSH have not changed.

Journal of Medical Research 2007;49(3):83-90
Background: Lipid peroxidation is considered that is one of the causes of pathological processes. Green bean is not only a food of high economic value but also a good medicine. Objective: To investigate the effects of green bean on (1) the lipid peroxidation in mitochondria of rat liver cell, (2) the index in blood of rabbits exposed to radiation: the activities of antioxidant enzymes (SOD, GPx), concentrations of MDA and TAS. Subjects and methods: In vitro experimental model was used to estimate the effects of green bean on lipid peroxidation in mitochondria of rat liver and in vivo experimental model was used to investigate the effects of green bean on the activities of free radicals in blood of rabbits exposed to radiation. Results and Conclusions: (1) Total green bean decreased the lipid peroxidation in mitochondria of rat liver cell without dependence onagents induced lipid peroxidation such as Fe3+.ADP/NADPH or Cumene hydroperoxid, (2) Green bean concurrently inhibited the decreased activities of SOD, GPx, TAS and the increased concentration of MDA in blood of rabbits radiated with 5 Gy dose. \r\n', u'\r\n', u'\r\n', u'

7.To evaluate the role of ultrasound and fine needle aspiration puncture of cell in the diagnosis of thyroid nucleus goiter
Journal of Practical Medicine 2003;469(12):38-39
In the year period of 1998-2002, in the Hospital N07 in Hai Duong province and the Hospital Buu Dien in HaNoi. 117 patients (99 females and 18 males, aged 17-69) who were clinically diagnosed as thyroid nucleous, goiter were undergone a fine needle puncture biopsy. Results showed a consistency between clinical diagnosis and ultrasound in 92.9% of solid form, 93.1% liquid form and in mixt form, the consistency rate was lower 55.5%. Between clinical diagnosis and ultrasound, there was a consistency in the determination of 76% of the number of goiters, and the consistency rate was higher between these 2 diagnostic methods, 81/85 in solid form and 25/27 in liquid form, while in mixt form the technique of fine needle aspiration puncture notified more cases than ultrasound 11 versus 5

8.The prevalence of streptococcus group A infection among Ha Noi pupils and error leading to misdiagnosis
Journal of Preventive Medicine 2004;14(4):23-27
1266 school children aged 6-15 years at 10 schools in Hanoi were enrolled into an investigation on Streptococci group A infection. At the pharynx a prevalence of 15.3% was shown. Predominant titre of antibody against streptolysine O was from 25 to 100 Todd units and only 9% had got the titre over 240 units. Alpha hemolytic Streptococcus viridans could be wrongly identified with beta hemolytic one leading to an error to 60% in bacitracine tests. Pseudo-positive identification may happened in ASLO test if the sample of serum had been infected

10.To evaluate the density on the upper part of femurs on elders by unigamma-plus
Journal of Practical Medicine 2005;505(3):35-37
A study on 90 people ( 62 male and 30 female) who had history of bone fracture due to serious trauma was conducted in Friendship Hospital. The result showed that: the age and BMI is equivalent between two groups. The bone mineral density in males is higher than that in females, the bone mineral density is highest on neck of femur and lowest on trochiter. The rate of osteomalacia on the upper part of femur was 31.5%. The density of the neck of femur in male group is higher than female ones. Weight, BMI and sport playing are factors related to crease bone density. Age, smoking and alcohol drinking are factors that lessen the bone density. For the elders, it is nesesay to measure the bone density in order to have preventive methods and appropriate treatment, avoid bone facture later.
