1.Efficacy of oral zinc complementary for children with long anorexia
Journal of Practical Medicine 2002;435(11):31-34
To evaluate the effects of zinc on chronic anorexic children, we have divided 132 chronic anorexic children aged 3-48 months old into two groups. The test group was supplemented with iron, vitamins and 10mg of elemental zinc daily orally while the control group was supplemented with iron, vitamins. The results have shown that appetite, energy intakes and growth rate in the test group were improved better than those in the control group (P<0.001; P<0.001; P<0.001 and P<0.025). Initial serum zinc concentration of the chronic anorexic children in the test group is concerned obviously with rehabilitations of energy intakes (P<0.002). Weight and height velocities of the anorexic children with low zinc concentration in test group were lower than those of the anorexic the test group (P<0.005; P<0.005). Zinc supplementation has clearly affected to treat chronic anorexia in children.

Journal of Preventive Medicine 2007;17(6):11-16
Background: Paralysis has been eliminated in Vietnam in 2000. To maintain the achievement, Vietnam needs to have more than 90% of children under 1 age drinking 3 doses of OPV, controlling cases of acute flaccid paralysis and diagnosing for virology in laboratory to determine causes of the disease. Results of laboratory identifying Polio virus and enterovirus in patients with acute flaccid paralysis is evidence of successful in paralytic elimination annually in Vietnam.\r\n', u'Objectives: To of isolate polio virus and enterovirus in patients with acute flaccid paralysis suspected paralysis in 2005.\r\n', u'Subjects and methods: The study included 267 cases with acute flaccid paralysis from 29 provinces, cities in the North and six provinces in the Central of Vietnam during 2005.\r\n', u'Results:Results of surveillance for acute flaccid paralysis and indicators of samples tested in 2005 have reached the criteria regulated by the World Health Organization. 8 poliovirus strains and 56 other non-polio enterovirus strains were isolated from 538 stool specimens of above patients. All isolated poliovirus strains were confirmed as Sabin-like strains. 56 non-polio enterovirus strains included coxsaxkie A (3), conxsackieB (5), echoviruses (34), enterovirus 71 (1) and untyped enteroviruses (13). Wild polio virus was not isolated in 2005.\r\n', u'Conclusion: The result confirmed successfulness in maintaining of poliomyelitis free status in the North and 6 provinces of the Central of Vietnam in 2005.\r\n', u'\r\n', u'\r\n', u'

3.Comparision of the single antibiotic with the combination therapy of antibiotic in the treatment of the peritonitis.
Journal of Practical Medicine 2002;435(11):29-32
A study on 538 patients (male: 327; female: 211; age of 46.2+/-2.01) with the peritonitis received an emergency operation in Cho ray hospital during 1/1996 - 4/2000 has shown that the rate of the post operative infection changed according to the cause, the abdominal drainage can increase the infection. The efficacy of the single antibiotic was equal to this of combination therapy of antibiotics. The use of antibiotic before operation was better than use of antibiotics. The use of antibiotic before operation was better than use of antibiotics after operation. It was nesessary to culture the microbials.

4.Hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia
Journal of Medical and Pharmaceutical Information 2001;9():28-31
This was the first time in Vietnam, an infant with Hyperinsulinemic glycemia has been surgical treated in the Institute of Mother and infant protection and care. Newborn with ages of 10 days admitted to hospital with diagnosis of Hyperinsulinemic glycemia. The results have shown that liver and spleen was normal, size and density of pancreas were normal without tumor, exocrine glands were normal, there was hyperplasia of island of Langerhans which generated the abnormal size, multinuclear cells or megakaryocytic with thick wall. 95% of pancreas was removed

5.Endoscopic bronchoalveolar lavage to collect samples for microbiological diagnosis
Journal of Practical Medicine 2000;383(6):34-37
The study involved 74 patients (48 males, 26 females, and mean age 61 years). Among these, 54 cases have lower respiratory infection and 23 subjects served as controls. In was found that for selective cases of respiratory infection and have received many antibiotics, 103-4CFU/ml should be considered as positive cutoff. With the positive cutoff of 104CFU/ml, the sensitivity, specificity and predictive value of this technique are 69%, 79% and 69%, respectively.

6.Antibiotic resistance of Str.pneumoniae isolated in the recent years.
Journal of Preventive Medicine 2000;10(4):42-46
Outline on the antibiotic resistance of Streptococcus pneumoniae isolated during 1989-1995 in Viet Nam based on the data of antimicrobial susceptibility tests of NIHE and ASTS project. Comparing to the data from countries in South East Asis/India we found that: Str.pneumoniae is still susceptible to benzylpenicillin. B-lactams, macrolides, chloramphenicol. In many countries the reported incidence of drug-resistant Str.Pneumoniae has increased in the last year. The frequency and patterns of resistance vary in different geographic regions, countries and over different periods.

7.Changes of antithrombin III in patients with burn and effects of CM2 in hypercoagulation prevention
Journal of Practical Medicine 2002;435(11):8-10
Through the research from 51 patients (34 men, 17 women) suffered from serious burns (Classified according to the method of Bull and Fischer), who were treated in national institute of Burn (NIB). The results showed that: (1) the rate of patients, who have symptoms of hypercoagulation is rather high. Therefore, preventive treatment for disseminated-intravascular-coagulation (DIC) in seriously burnt patients is necessary. CM2 drug was cabaple of preventive treating hypercoagulation in seriously burnt patients.

9.Some opinions of the impact of zinc complement in the sleep disorder in children
Journal of Practical Medicine 2002;435(11):27-30
Remarks on influences of zinc deficiency to sleep in children and effects of zinc supplementation to sleep disorders in children. Exploring 104 chronic anorexic and malnourished children aged 3 -36 months were divided into two groups named A and B. Both groups have been similar age, sex, clinical symptoms and monitored, guided and treated with the same regime and scheme. A comparative study on the differences of some selected indicators between children in group A whose dietary intake was added a dose of 10 mg zinc gluconate/day/child and others in control group B have been carried out. The results show that 53% of them were low zinc deficiency, sleep duration of them were short, with 69% of them had sleep disorders and were at 3 times higher risk of getting sleep disorders compared with children without lacking zinc (p<0,01). Besides the effects were known, zinc’s supplementation has effected to treat clearly to sleep disorder in children. It may be an useful characteristic of zinc element which has been identified at the first time, so it is necessary to keep on study more.

10.Clinical and paraclinical features and the treatment of ureterocele
Journal of Medical and Pharmaceutical Information 1998;(1):34-47
Between April 1992 and March 2001, a total of 52 patients (58 ureteroceles) was diagnosed and treated at National Pediatric Institute. For ureterocele, female to male ratio was 5.2:1. Complete duplication was found in association with the ureterocele in 50 cases. Urinary tract infection was the most frequent mode of presentation (64%), abdominal mass (12%) and prolapsed ureterocele (13%). The diagnostic procedure included ultrasonographic examination, voiding cystourethrography and excretory urogram. Of 52 patients, 82% and 77% were less than 2 years old at presentation and operation respectively. The elective surgical policy was individualized, based on renal function and presence of vesicoureteral reflux. Overall results within various groups were generally satisfactory regarding the eradication of urinary tract infection, the preservation of renal function in 73% cases after the first procedures
