Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of enucleation for the treatment of huge hemangiomas. Methods From 1979 to 1998, enucleation was used for the treatment of hepatic cavernous hemangiomas in 126 patients, among them 18 with multiple tumors and 6 with centrally located lesions. For the tumors larger than 10 cm in diametre or located in theⅠ or Ⅷ segment of the liver, enucleation combined with intermittent inflow vascular occlusion was adopted. Results All cavernous hemangiomas in this group were enucleated successfully, there was no mortality. The median intraoperative blood loss was 1015?577*!ml(200*!ml~4*!500*!ml). Postoperative complications developed in 15 patients including pleural effusion in 10 and wound infection in 5. 54 patients were lost from follow up. None of the remaining 72 patients had recurrence at the follow up ranging from 6 months to 18 years and 4 months. Conclusion Enucleation of cavernous hemangioma of the liver is a safe and effective alternative to hepatectomy.

Polysaccharide sulfate (PSS) is a new type of antiatherosclerotic medicine for its effects of anticoagulation, anti-thrombosis and modulation of dyslipidemia. However, it is still uncertain whether PSS could modulate the diabetic dyslipidemia or not. Here, the rat model of diabetic dyslipidemia was developed and the effects of PSS on glucose and lipid levels were investigated in this animal model. Wistar rats were iv injected with streptozotocin 20 mg·kg-1 after feeding with high fat diet for one and a half month. Then, rats received orally PSS (30, 90, and 180 mg·kg-1) for 1 month. After oral treatment with PSS (90 and 180 mg·kg-1) for 1 month, the levels of triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), low density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) were significantly reduced and the level of high density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C) increased, compared with diabetic control rats. Moreover, PSS (30, 90, and 180 mg·kg-1) had a tendency to reduce glucose and insulin levels, and significantly increased insulin sensitivity index. Our results suggest that PSS could improve insulin sensitivity and relieve dyslipidemia in diabetic dyslipidemic rats.

Journal of Experimental Hematology 2011;19(5):1255-1259
The study was aimed to explore the relationship between infection of Helicobacter Pylorus (H. Pylorus) and etiology of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) and evaluate whether H. Pylorus eradication can increase platelet count in patients with ITP. The data-bases of cqvip, Wanfang, TsingHua TongFang, CNKI and PubMed were searched, inclusion and exclusion criteria and heterogeneity test were determined. The studies of H. Pylorus infection and ITP were investigated with fixed effect mode Meta-analysis. Relationship between H. Pylorus infection and etiology of ITP, H. Pylorus eradication and curative effect of ITP were comprehensively and quantitatively evaluated. OR > 1 indicated that factor of exposure was the risk factor of disease; OR < 1 suggested that factor of exposure was the protective factor of disease; OR = 1 revealed that there were no correlation between factor of exposure and diseases. 95%CI was the confidence interval of total OR. The results showed that a total of 211 cases and 210 controls from 5 studies was included to evaluate the exposure of H. Pylorus between ITP patients and controls, the pooled OR was 1.73 (95%CI = 1.12 - 2.67); a total of 458 cases and 305 controls from 13 studies was included to evaluate the relationship between H. Pylorus eradication and curative effect of ITP, the pooled OR was 6.53 (95%CI = 4.44 - 9.61). It is concluded that H. Pylorus infection plays a role in the etiology of ITP. Eradication of H. Pylorus increases platelet count in patients with ITP. H. Pylorus eradication can be used as the first line measure to treat H. Pylorus-positive ITP.

OBJECTIVE:To study the preventive effect of Lonicera japonica alcohol extract on mice with liver injury based on metabolomics method. METHODS:30 mice were equally randomized into a normal control (isometric normal saline) group,a model(isometric normal saline)group and a group of L. japonica alcohol extract(2 g/kg). The mice were given drugs by ig once a day for 14 consecutive days. On the 8th day of administration, the models were established by giving 0.2% dimethyl sulfoxide (DMN,10 ml/kg)ip once a day for 7 consecutive days. Gas chromatography-mass spectrum(GC-MS)was used to analyze 24 h total ions chromatogram of the urine sample on the 1st,3rd,5th and 7th day of administration of drugs and DMN. The change in endogenic small molecule metabolites in urine was observed. Principal component analysis was employed to explore the change in the metabolite chromatogram and underlying biomarkers in urine. RESULTS:The contour of the chromatogram changed to a largest extent 1 to 5 d after given DMN,but showed an obvious trend towards regression 7 days thereafter. DMN resulted in increase in the contents of 8-phenyl-8-azbicyclo-[4,3,0]non-3-ene-7,9-dione,2-(6-heptynyl)-1,3 dioxolane,bis-(O-methyloxime)-4-ketoglu-cose,and decrease in the contents of malonic acid,2-(4- chlorophenylthiomethoxyl)ethyl,tetrahydro-2-furanacetaldehyde,D-ga-lactose,erythro-pentonic acid and galacturonic acid,in endogenic small molecule metabolites in mouse urine, for which Lonicera japonica alcohol extract can improve that. CONCLUSIONS:Previous administration of L. japonica alcohol extract ig has preven-tive effect to some extent on the physiological and metabolic conditions of mice with liver injury induced by DMN.
