1.Experimental researches on treatment of end-stage nephropathy with stem cells transplantation
Journal of Interventional Radiology 2006;0(10):-
Stem cell possesses the capability of self-regeneration and multidirectional differentiation.Although renal transplantation being the best way for the treatment of end-stage nephropathy, the shortage of donor kidney arouses the treatment with transplantation of stem cells taking emphasis in recent years. The process and mechanism of this therapy are complicated and the authors review in detail the experimental research advancement on stem cells engraftment for the treatment. The correlative interventional technology is also evaluated.(J Intervent Radiol,2006,15: 632-635)
2.New Century Educational Objectives of Medical Specialty in the Field of International Vision and Reference
Chinese Journal of Medical Education Research 2002;0(01):-
In recent years, many countries in the world has established the projects of medical education objectives. The goals for the projects are to develop a consensus within the medical education community on the attributes that medical students should possess at the time of graduation, and to set several learning objectives that can guide each medical school as it establishes its own program.Chinese medical schools should feel a sense of urgency in responding to the intent of these actives.

BACKGROUND:Studies have confirmed that nicotine affects the activity of osteoblasts, osteoclasts, fibroblasts and erythrocytes.
OBJECTIVE:To study the nicotine effects on osseointegration and the expression of osteoprotegerin and bone morphogenetic protein 2 after implantation of dental implants with surface treatment by sandblasting or acid etching.
METHODS:Twenty-four Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly assigned to two groups and received daily injections for 2 weeks as folows: Nicotine 2 mg/kg twice for experimental group, saline solution for control group. Then the titanium implants with surface sandblasting or acid etching were implanted into the tibiae folowed by continuous nicotine or normal saline injection. At weeks 2 and 4 after implantation, the implants and surrounding bone tissue were prepared for CT, X-ray and hematoxylin-eosin staining examinations to evaluate bone healing and expression levels of bone-related genes were measured by quantitative RT-PCR.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Compared with the control groups, the degree of osseointegration and the expression of osteoprotegerin and bone morphogenetic protein 2 in the experimental groups were decreased significantly (P < 0.05), except that the expression of bone morphogenetic protein 2 in the experimental group with acid etching was not significantly reduced. In addition, the expression of bone morphogenetic protein 2 in the experimental group with acid etching was higher than that in the experimental group with sandblasting at 2 weeks after implantation (P < 0.05). The X-ray and CT show that the quantities of new generation bone and the degree of bone mineralization of the sandblasting group were significant lower than those of the acid etching group under the intervention of nicotine. Hematoxylin-eosin staining showed that the activity and quantity of osteoblasts around the implants down-regulated significantly, but acid etching-treated implants showed better outcomes than sandblasting-treated implants.

Capsular warning syndrome (CWS) is a subtype of recurrent stereotyped transient ischemic attacks that heralds a subsequent stroke. The mainly presumed mechanism is repeated bursts of ischemia in the region of penetrating arteries, since the structural changes of large arteries is rare in series of imaging examinations. The majority of the infarct is located in the internal capsule or pontine.CWS is usually therapeutically resistant to simple traditional antithrombotic treatment, while combined antiplatelet treatment, thrombolysis, endovascular intervention and antiepileptics may protect part of the patients from developing into permanent infarcts.

Purpose To study the clinicopathological features and immunohistochemical characteristics of IgG4-related disease. Meth-ods The microscopic characteristics and immunohistochemical staining (EnVision) of IgG, IgG4, CD138 and CD34 have been per-formed on 12 cases of IgG4-related disease. Results IgG4-related disease were characterized by diffuse fibrosis, accompanied with in-filtrating of dense lymphocytes and plasma cells surrounding neurovascular and occlusive phlebitis. Immunohistochemical staining re-sults showed the ratio of IgG4+/IgG+ cells were over 40%. Conclusions IgG4-related disease is absent of characteristic clinical and radiographic features and is easily misdiagnosed as tumor. Preoperative serum IgG4 detection could be used as the prior examina-tion for the suspected cases.

Sepsis is defined as an organ dysfunction caused by systemic inflammatory response induced by infection, and may eventually developed into multiple organ failure (MOF).The onset of sepsis often involves the activation of inflammatory cells, over expression of inflammatory cytokines, immune dysfunction, damage of tissue and organ, excessive apoptosis of cell.Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have a wide range of biological activities, including anti-inflammatory,antibacterial,immune regulation, regeneration and repair of tissue and organ,anti-apoptosis,etc.In recent years,a large number of preclinical studies had demonstrated that MSCs has good actions on sepsis. The purpose of this review is to describe the mechanism of MSCs in the treatment of sepsis, and to point out the possible clinical challenges.

Journal of Medical Research 2006;0(07):-
Objective To explore the clinical effect of the improved operation of endoscopic thoracic sympathectomy(ETS)for treatment of palmar hyperhidrosis. Methods The improved operation of ETS was used to 105 patients with palmar hyperhidrosis.T3 sympathetic was blocked in 105 cases with palmar hyperhidrosis. Results Hand sweating disappeared and axillary sweating discreased significantly in all patients. No one had any serious complications such as bleeding and Horner Syndrome except for five patients with pneumothoraces.Compensatory sweating was found in 15 patients following up from 1~12 months after operation. Conclusion The improved operation of ETS is a simple, safe, effective and less complications procedures.
