Objective To study the choice of initial operative approach for thyroid nodule and the necessity of reoperation after local excision of differentiated thyroid cancer. Methods Clinical data of 138 patients with differentiated thyroid cancer after local tumor excision had reoperation at our hospital during a period of four year were retrospectively reviewed. All the reoperations were bilateral thyroidectomy and cervical lymph node excision. Results There were 76.8% patients with residual cancer in thyroid and cervical lymph node. There were 23 patients(16.7%) with recurrent laryngeal nerve injury that included 22 cases with unilateral and 1 case with bilateral injury after the initial operation, and 19 of the 23 patients with recurrent laryngeal nerve injury recovered after nerve repair. After thyroid reoperation,3 cases(2.2%) had recurrent laryngeal nerve injury,2 cases(1.4%) had partial parathyroid gland injury,2 cases(1.4%) had superior laryngeal nerve injury, but there were no cases of esophageal injury or postoperative bleeding. Conclusions The incidence of residual cancer is high after local excision for differentiated thyroid cancer, therefore, reoperation with bilateral thyroidectomy and cervical lymph node excision is necessary.

Objective To establish a new and convenient assay for whole blood lead concentration. Methods Whole blood sample was digested by nitric acid-perchloric. Under the condition of pH 0.8~1.0, lead concentration was examined by Hydridegeneration Atomic Fluorescence Spectrometry. Results The method had good linearity when lead concentration were between 0 to 600 ?g/L, r =0.999. The within-run CV of the method for high, middle and low lead level were 4.1%, 3.6% and 3.5% respectively. The between-run CV were 4.9%, 4.6% and 4.7% respectively. The recovery rates were 105.4%, 98.5% and 94.8% respectively. The single-blind test result of series standard lead samples provided by Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine were within the acceptable range. The detecting Limit of this method was 0.3 ng. There was no significant interference from main two-valence positiveion. The sample can be storage at lest for 1 months at 4℃. Samples of 869 children from Tianjin were tested by this method. The mean value was 91.9 ?g/L, median was 83.8 ?g/L, all data were within 23.1~386.3 ?g/L. The result showed out positive skewness distribution. Conclusion This method were sensitive, accurate, precise, quick and low-cost. It was suitable for use in clinical laboratories.

Objective To observe the morphology, cell viability and secretion function of catecholamine of the alginate-polylysine-alginate (APA) microencapsulated bovine chromaffin cells (BCCs) before and after cryopreserving with liquid nitrogen. Methods The APA microencapsulated BCCs were cryopreserved with dimethyl sulfoxide as cryopreservative agent by slow cooling and rapid rewarming for revivification. The change of cell function was observed by detecting the cell viability and secretion of catecholamine. Results As compared with the precryopreseving cells, the morphology and cell viability of the resuscitated APA microencapsulated BCCs showed no significant change. The catecholamine secretion volume of BCCs remained 80% of that by the precryopreserving cells. Conclusion It demonstrates that the resuscitated cryopreserved APA microencapsulated BCCs still remained good morphology, cell viability and secretion function of catecholamine.

Objective To develop an information system for hospital material flow management. Methods The system, taking financial accounting and hard assets controlling as the primary purpose and making the flow rebuild as the masterstroke, mainly consisted of seven functions as follows: management of medical material and non-hygiene material, management of antisepsis providing department, management of hard assets, management of drug, management of storehouse materials economical using and support in peacetime and war time, management of biohazard waste and management of the budget of finical IC card department. Results The system formed the information chain of the whole hospital material flow process and effectively controlled the hospital medical costs and operational costs.Furthermore, the system firstly developed the storehouse material economical using and support management system both in peacetime and war time in our country. Conclusion The information system for hospital material flow management can resolve the problem of financial and material management divorce and promote the hospital holistic management level.

Objective To understand the effect of estradiol in different concentrations on proliferation of diverse mammary primary cells in vitro. Methods The primary cells of cancer tissue, the adjacent tissue to tumors and normal mammary tissue from patiens with breast cancer were obtained using collagenase digesting method. All the tissue samples were cultivated in vitro, and were given estradiol in different concentrations. The effect of estradiol on the proliferation of those primary cells was measured by MTT. Results Estradiol remarkedly promoted the proliferation of primary cells of cancer tissue and peritumor tissue in vitro, whose ER expression were positive. Whereas, the promotion effect of estradiol on the proliferation of normal mammary primary cells was relatively weak, and there was no correlation between the promotion effect with the expression of ER in cancer tissue. Conclusion The risks of occurrence and relapse of breast cancer would increase significantly when the concentration of estradiol is no less than 103 pmol/L in vivo.

Objective:To investigate the changes and the adjusting effects of brain-gut peptides (BGP) on immunologic function in the rats before and after relief of biliary obstruction. Methods:One hundred Wistar rats were randomly divided into five groups, including sham common bile duct ligation group (group A),common bile duct ligation group (group B),sham relief of biliary obstruction + normal saline group (group C) ,relief of biliary obstruction + normal saline group (group D) and relief of biliary obstruction + Sandostatin (group E).At 1d,7d after the operation of each group, the changes of plasma vasoactive intestional peptide (VIP),substance P(SP),serum interleukin-2(IL-2) and serum T-lymphocytic subsets (CD4 +,CD8 +)were determinded by radioimmunoassay and flowcytometry .Results:Plasma VIP and SP were increased in group B compared with group A(P

Objective:To investigate the role of oxygen free radicals in renal dysfunction in rats with obstructive jaundice and the protective effect of Salvia Miltiorrhiae(SM) on renal mitochondria. Methods:The 54 Wistar rats were randomly divided into three groups:sham-operation control group(group A,n=18),obstructive jaundice group(group B,n=18),SM-treated group(group C,n=18).The model of obstructive jaundice in rats was established by common bile duct ligation(CBDL).In group C SM(5ml/kg?d) was given through abdominal cavity for 21 days. The rats were executed at 7th,14th,and 21th day after operation respectively. The contents of serum BIL,Cr,BUN and the contents of renal mitochondria MDA and cholesterol were determined respectively, and the changes of renal histopathology were observed. Results:The contents of renal mitochondria MDA and cholesterol in group B and group C were markedly higher than group A(P
